Top 10 Most Overrated WWE Workers

I compiled this list with some other Internet smarks whose opinion on wrestling I respect a great deal. They don't come to this board because they can't deal with all of the Benoit love/anyone over 6'5" hating. Here's our Top 10:

 

1. Booker T

"DEFINITELY."

"He's a 13-year veteran who still needs to be lead by the hand, and the fact that he does his flying forearm so lazy these days really pisses me off."

 

2. Christian

"Hmm. I think Christian is ridiculously overrated."

"Unless you like lots of stomping and choking."

 

3. Kanyon

"Well, when everyone was all saying he was great...look who he was working with...DDP, Raven, Benoit, etc...of course he's gonna have good matches."

"He hasn't innovated jack shit since 1998, and he was never that good in the first place."

 

4. Lance Storm

"Lance Storm is the most overrated worker fucking EVER...except for a brief period in WCW. He sucked in WAR, he didn't really do it for me in ECW, and he had like...3 months of greatness in WCW. "

"He can't even throw a decent punch, and I take offense to his disgusting pokers."

 

5. HHH

"He's not really overrated though, is he?"

"He is by everyone at Titan Tower."

 

6. Jamie Noble

"I think Jamie Noble is overrated. Real bad. I like him, but he's not THAT great."

"Yeah. He's pretty boring for a cruiser. Good, sound psychology but boring as fuck."

 

7. The Hurricane

"He's a smart mark fan boy's dream...comic books and puro moves."

"LOL...It's so true though."

 

8 & 9. Team Angle

"I like Shelton...but Charlie Haas is Meat 2.0. They haven't been there long enough though."

"They've had like 3 matches and everybody has already decided that they are the 2nd coming. I'm sorry, but I'm not gonna mark for a couple of Angle clones."

 

10. Trish Stratus

"She fucking sucks. Fuck Trish."

"Fuck women's wrestling. No one wants to see that. At least NWA-TNA has the right idea with the cage dancers."

That's one of the most pathetic statements I've ever heard.

 

I disagree with Booker and Noble being on that last.

 

Noble incorporates psychology into his matches- see Vengeance.

Wow what a convincing point. Booker T is one of the best workers on RAW. He gets the crowd into his matches and he has a vast array of different kicks and moves.

And Booker T is just NOT a good worker. He's inept. What is "most best"? Is that like "bestest"?

 

Yes. Educated feet obviously means you're a great worker. Unless you're X-Pac.

Don't be misguided by the fact that Booker T's PARTNER is the best worker on RAW. It just shows you how great Goldust actually is that he can cover up for Booker's blahness.

It's not boring as fuck- watch as he kills Kidman's shoulder the whole match and counters all of his comebacks and then incorporates psychology into the finisher.

 

He's one of the few guys in WWE to actually do that.

The Hurricane? Yeah... high-flying moves are *really* overrated. And what he lacks in the ring, if anything, he more than makes up for it with his comedy.

 

Christian? Same deal as Hurricane...what he lacks in the ring, he makes up for it.

You say Booker is a good worker because he has a "vast array of different kicks and moves". Well, great. Having a bunch of kicks in your arsenal doesn't make you a great worker. Being a great worker means that you can WORK. And a great worker doesn't blow spots and have to be lead by the hand by superior workers like Jericho.

And Goldust? He's good for backstage stuff? But in the ring? Bleh...pretty boring, in my opinion. I'm talking in terms of moves, not how he can get the crowd to react.

Yes it does- He does a bunch of different moves each match.

 

I don't really notice Booker blowing spots or being led by the hand by Jericho either. He always holds his own in matches and doesn't need to be carried at all.

The fact is that most workers over 6'5 in WWE do in fact suck. I like The Rock and Brock off the top of my head but I can't think of anyone else.

Agreed on Booker T, thought he was an above-average worker in WCW, but has gotten pretty bad. I can only recall his WCW title matches with Angle as good matches he has had in the WWF.

Does anyone still regard him as a good worker? People give him props for his promos and especially backstage skits which he is really good in. I admit I used to be on the Christian bandwagon (as a wrestler) but that was long ago, it's clear he's best suited as a tag wrestler now.

You're SO far off here. Kanyon was getting love when he was Mortis, and fighting with stiffs like Glacier, Wrath, Ernest Miller, etc.

 

Saying someone is overrated just because they had good opponents in some matches is one of the all-time smark fallacies. STFU with that. It takes two, you know. You gonna tell me that Benoit/Albert was a good match? Or Angle/Big Show at the Dec. PPV?

 

And since when were DDP and Raven such automatics when it comes to carrying people to good matches? I missed that memo..

 

4. Lance Storm

Disagreed on Storm, when they give him time to go (not often), he comes through. For example, he had a great match vs. Edge at SS 2001, and carried RVD to a couple of very good matches.

Actually I have no problem with LaParka. He was your average luchadore in WCW and did a good job. He was entertaining, which was what made me mark out for him.
