Yeah. That whole necrophilia stuff was pretty much a publicity stint that had no publicity. I can't complain about the Al Wilson storyline though, as I liked Al, and it gave Funaki something to do.

I am surprised at the lack of outrage toward the Al Wilson angle. They spent WAY TOO MUCH time dedicated to an angle that went NOWHERE and benefited NO ONE and now is forgotten. The time they put into that angle could have been spent enhancing the cruiserweight division and, you know, making money and entertaining the fans.

I just wonder if after they write storylines, they think, "Wow. This is a good storyline/idea." I honestly cannot see how they can think that half the time.

It's really strange. My only explanation is "Vince is a Moron".

Which answers every question conveniently and 9/10 times correctly.

God they're stupid.

I have another theory.

They have a list of wrestlers and personalities and then a list of angles. Anything goes - they generally rip the angles off soap operas, crappy sitcoms, and c-movies. They get really drunk, close their eyes, and point to however many wrestlers they want in an angle, and then point to the type of angle they will do.

So that's why we get "HHH" vs. "Kane" with "Necrophilia".

If the WWE writing team were writing for any other TV show or whatever and they constantly put out the crappy product they are now they would have been fired long ago, but Vince keeps them on.

*Yawn*

To the original poster: this entire topic reeks of flame-baiting, and those quotes you used to back up your list only showed how unreliable and full of it your peers were.

If they want to stay away from the board--good.

Booker support comes from his charisma, overness, and that even though he isn't a great worker, he's still one of the top ones on Raw. Face it, the Raw roster sucks, and the few decent guys stick out.

Kanyon carried Wrath and Glacier. Nuff said. After that he worked under the Russo regime, and didn't do much in the Alliance and just came back from injury. Who has been overrating him?

Storm is above average, but his current matches bore me. His punches do suck, though. He should just not do them.

Noble puts on awesome matches, but unless someone is slow and rest-hold loving, it's hard to be "boring." I guess working a body part is boring, right?

Hurricane was a very good worker in WCW, but is all WWE-style now. Also, anyone saying "LOL" is branded a complete idiot by default in my book, so that also invalidates their opinion. I hate comic books and don't watch puro, either.

Team Angle: some board backlash already has begun. Pardon me, but for guys as young as they are, I think they're pretty damn good. I don't have a Team Angle banner, though.

The comments on Trish Stratus just serves to cement my opinion that your peers are idiots and assholes--and I don't even like Trish but admire her improvement in the ring and bump-taking.

I'll defend The Hurricane!! I just didn't see this before. Don't come up to the WWE folder to often, sadly...

For one, the comic book comment was actually kind of stupid. I love comics, but Hurricane having that gimmick is just kind of a plus, and I think it is for a lot of fans. I, for one, was a huge "Sugar Shane" fan.

Man, I wish you would have given some reasons for thinking he was overrated... would make this easier. You seem to have watched WCW when it was on... so I don't see how you could say that Shane Helms is overrated. You must have seen him with Three Count (where he was integral in pulling good matches out of people like The Dog and Brian Knobbs) or after his Cruiserweight title win when he was having great matches with every one on Thunder every week.

As the Hurricane, he hasn't been given the chance to show what he can really do. On about his biggest stage, at KOTR, he had a very good match with Jaime Noble (**1/2 stars according to Kieth, but I believe it was actually a great deal better than he thought).

Hope that helped a little.

The positive with this is that

1) We won't get a nercophilia angle again

and

2) We won't get a 'deal al wilson' angle again.

However, we still don't have the much anticipated, often contemplated, but never orientated incest angle. So look out boys and girls, cause Jamie and Nidia are about to be related.

we're still debating the original topic?!

The problem is Vince' writers still think of themselves as TV writers rather than bookers and imo thats where they go wrong, they don't need Dallas storylines to sell wrestling (Except the inevitable "who shot JR" of course)

Wouldn't Steph say Nidia was too fat to have relations?

Part of me wishes something big would happen. I'm tired of the endless train of bad storylines and quick fixes.

Part of me wishes the WWE hit a serious low so they would wake up and turn things around, but that doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon.

"I guess" the problem is with everyone trying to write what they think Vince wants, rather than anything particularly good. It's sort of a "If a tree falls..." situation where you have to give the tree big breasts and a lame schtick before Vince hears the sound. The main problem is Vince -he is WAY behind the times and is frightingly out-of-touch with what wrestling fans want. He still thinks it's 98/99 like he thought it was 88/89 in 93.

Yeah it was brutal. Months were spent on that lame story with no payoff at all. Unless you count the death of Al Wilson, but he didn't exist before the angle started. It was a zero-sum angle. So many hours of TV wasted.

And what did they see in Al Wilson? Why was it so important to get him on TV? The whole thing seemed to be built around him. Really, really, REALLY strange shit.

If there was ever a clearer example that they start angles with no clue how they're going to finish them..

The last month of the angle they dedicated 3 segments to it. THREE SEGMENTS! That's uncalled for, it wasn't over in the first place, and it doesn't do anyone any favours. It was all for shits and giggles - Red Rooster, IRS, Doink for a newer generation. Vince trying to live through his characters, or some shit like that.

It's also disgusting how the angle evolved. At first Tazz and Cole were mocking it - but then they acted very serious toward it. Just insane.

I always kind of thought that the Al Wilson was originally going to be like a 2-3 week thing, then became some bizarre running gag between the writers. At least that is how they came off to me.

I just wish the writers would give more effort into storylines they push. Like, instead of trotting guys like Albert and Bill DeMott out there, saying "They're BULLIES! Boo them!" that they would have done more to give them some sort of character. They seem to sort of be doing this with guys like O'Haire and Nathan Jones, so, for that, I commend them.

Braintrust #1: "Ok guys, let's have some ideas"

Braintrust #2: "I say we put Funaki and Chuck Palumbo together - they'd be the new odd couple everyone would love. Funaki would still think Chuck is gay and Chuck wouldn't be able to understand a single word he says. It would kinda be like Fez from That 70's Show meeting up with Joey from friends. We'd call em "Funakalumbo" and we would put em on wild adventures throughout the weeks to follow."

Braintrust #1: "Hmm, interesting idea - any thoughts?"

Braintrust #3: "I like it, but can we have the two be recruited by the CIA to help try and find a murderous villain that is in the WWE - and throughout the weeks we'd see this odd couple try to find out who the bad guy is, but their differences keep getting in the way?"

Braintrust #4: "Hmm a CIA agent eh? Sounds too pedestrian."

Braintrust #3: "How about NSA"

Braintrust #4: "NSA?"

Braintrust #3: "The National Security Agency - they are the CIA of the 90's."

Braintrust #4: "Sounds good."

Braintrust #1: "Sounds good?"

Braintrust #2: "Sounds good."

Braintrust #3: "Great!"

Braintrust #1: "I'll pitch it to Vince in the morning"

They don't come to this board because they can't deal with all of the Benoit love

My heart breaks. Really.

I agree with 6 or 7 of your choices though.

1. Booker T

2. Christian

3. Kanyon

4. Lance Storm

5. HHH

6. Jamie Noble

7. The Hurricane

8 & 9. Team Angle

10. Trish Stratus

First, Trips isn't overrated by us or anyone I know of. He's just about what us and the average fan think. Not Albert bad, but not Angle good. I'll be honest, he's not as bad in the ring as people think, but he's not overrated by anyone.

Christian I agree with, but since he's become Resthold boy, I don't think anyone holds him in high regard. I haven't found him interesting as a singles competitor at any point.

Lance Storm can WORK. Watch him make Edge look awesome at SummerSlam 2001. These days he isn't nearly as good for the simple fact that he's taken a lot of his offense out to accomodate for tag team matches and that WWE probably wasn't a fan of his moveset since it wasn't punch-kick material. When was the last time anyone's seen his springboard clothesline into the ring?

Jamie Knoble is mini-Benoit. His moves are all crisp and fluid, his matches make sense psychologically. Shouldn't be on here.

Hurricane isn't tops in my mind as far as working goes, but his matches are still very entertaining, and I don't watch Puro, so don't even try that as a counter-argument. He isn't bad, but he isn't super great either. Shouldn't be on this list.

Team Angle has yet to really prove themselves since they've yet to be given a carrying job themselves, what with matches against only the Smackdown Six so far as I can remember. People act like they're a second coming not because of their work, but because of their chracters and such. Since this is about working, they do deserve a spot on there.

If you can't see Trish's improvement, you're blind. She's an incredible competitor, and it seems that this was simply put on there because your friends are tits and ass marks who can't appreciate women's wrestling. Delightfully sexist to say that NWA-TNA is right to put them in the cages, with a pinch of misogyny for flavor. Trish and Victoria have been doing very well to carry the tiny women's division from the floor during the eras of evening gown pool matches to legitimate contests now.

Booker shouldn't be on here, but you were right about Goldust being a great worker himself. Booker's flying forearm isn't meant to be a flying one so much as just one he puts a lot of force into.

Kanyon can bump like a madman, and that alone keeps him off the list. I don't know how he'll do with this latest run, but now that he's no longer the whipping boy buddy of DDP in storyline terms, we'll soon find out when they give him matches against guys who will actually sell and not bury him. You say he had great matches only because of the people you named (I disagree with the Raven and DDP parts, the former because I don't think he's all that great, the latter because DDP couldn't work on the fly if he was put on an airplane), but you're sorely mistaken, as you'll find out in the coming weeks, assuming they actually give him matches instead of beatdown segments or pointless storylines that go nowhere.

So you were right on 2, 8, and 9.

Oh, and most of us love Benoit for a reason. If your friends can't handle that (which doesn't surprise me, since they can't even handle the idea of actual women's matches), then they can stay away for all I care. Just less idiots to clog up this folder.

What's everyone's problem with women's wrestling? If Vince were to give them a decent set of storylines, sort of like the Victoria vs Trish feud and the Jazz-Victoria story they're building on, then that might help. Put them in proper matches...Molly is the best women's worker on the roster, yet she's jobbing to Jazz and Victoria too easily.

Plus, most marks have been brought up on the T & A stuff, so proper women's wrestling always gets the boring chants from these sort of morons...even if it's not boring. Survivor Series, people were 'ooohing' and 'aaahing' because of the weapon shots Trish and Victoria used, yet if it were two guys out there no-one would give a damn. Most of the marks, and obviously some people around here, are a bit too sexist to appreciate the work the women put in, and the fact their matches are usually better than half the other stuff on the show.

Oh, and that Funakalumbo idea would be great. Even better if it turned out Palumbo was investigating his new family...hell, have him investigate himself. Seeing Palumbo cuffing himself, and reading himself his rights would be so surreal it'd be funny.
