Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted February 20, 2003 As I talked about on my premium hotline yesterday, Edge missed the Smackdown brand house shows and television taping this week due to a neck injury. He has been getting tests to determine the extent of the injury and is scheduled to have a full evaluation by WWE neck specialist Dr. Lloyd Youngblood, the man who operated on Steve Austin, Chris Benoit, Rhyno and Lita, tomorrow after Youngblood looks at the test results. The hope is that Edge will not need surgery. If he doesn't, he should be able to heal the injury with rehab and be back in a month or two. If he does need surgery, his length of absence will be determined by the type of procedure that he needs to have done. Credit:1wrestling.com
Guest Downhome Report post Posted February 20, 2003 What will they do for the PPV then? Will someone replace him? Perhaps, once certain Rhyno?
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Well, this sucks. Let's hope he doesn't need surgery and can be back in a month or two.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Oh, son of a bitch. I was really starting to like Edge. This sucks.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 20, 2003 It's a 6-man so they should be able to keep him from working too much. Hopefully he can rest up and be able to go for Wrestlemania. They could always replace with Rey or Eddy if needed though

They could always replace with Rey or Eddy if needed though That's what I'm hoping for too. I'm really hoping that Edge will be back for Wrestlemania... And I think it would be smart of WWE to replace Edge with Rey/Eddy.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted February 20, 2003 It should be Eddy. Get the guy on the PPV.
Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted February 20, 2003 To follow up on a story from earlier today, the results came back from the tests that Edge had to determine the extent of his neck injury and the news is not good. The results have showed that Edge will need to have neck surgery with Dr. Lloyd Youngblood to heal his injury. I believe that it will be the less serious of the two possible procedures, with Edge needing the one where Youngblood operates from the front of the neck, but I am not completely sure of that. There is no word at this time as to whether he will work in his six man match with Chris Benoit and Brock Lesnar against Team Angle at the No Way Out PPV on Sunday. If Edge can't go, one candidate that I would like to see take his place would be Rhyno. A few weeks ago, Rhyno was slated to join HHH's Evolution group, but WWE changed directions when they liked how Evolution was getting over as it was currently constituted. It is well known throughout the Smackdown locker room that lead Smackdown writer Paul Heyman has been pushing hard for Rhyno to be a part of show upon his return. For those unaware, it was Heyman who gave Rhyno his big break in ECW and pushed to the top of the card as a monster. I have heard from a few people that Edge was even telling people he liked the idea, and hoped Heyman could get it pushed through if the situation called for it. 1wrestling.com
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Crap. How long will he be out with that type of surgery?
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Fuck- hopefully he'll still be able to go at Mania and then he can take time off. At least they can use Eddy or Rey as backup plans
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 20, 2003 I don't see how they plan on writing Edge out of this match...Do they have team angle attack him early in the show and have that Who is his replacement buildup? Although, Eddy makes perfect sense, I expect WWE to go with Rey because he is more over and he is still a face while Eddy isn't though... Either way...Rey/Eddy both are suitable replacements... I still don't think Rhyno works here....I always thought of him as a Heel... The real issue, if it is serious and he takes the surgery...What happens to Benoit for Mania...Edge was pretty much his only possibility...They MIGHT have to rush him with Rey and put them in a 4 Way tag title match...or they could Have Benoit/Rhyno... Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted February 20, 2003 If they use A-Train to set up the injury angle yet again.....
Guest Brian Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Matt Hardy! Matt Hardy! Perfect set-up for Mania with Matt/Rey, and Matt has ties to Heyman.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 20, 2003 I expect Team Angle to do a beatdown on HEAT on Edge if he can't make it. Or Edge could get taken out during the match and make it two on three. f he can't just go just sub Eddy or Rey
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 20, 2003 or they could go with the super sell of 3 Vs 2...and ignore intelligent logical booking...
Guest EternallyLazy Report post Posted February 20, 2003 What if Rhyno turns on Benoit and Brock at the end of the match, costing them the victory, joining Team Angle (as an enforcer role)? If Brock goes over Angle at Mania, Rhyno would be a good opponent for Brock leading into Backlash
Guest Brian Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Then Rey subs in, Matt and Shannon interferes, allowing Team Angle to get a win and beatdown on Brock. Far too optimistic today.
Guest Brian Report post Posted February 20, 2003 What if Rhyno's not ready yet and you guys are all just jumping the gun? Because it doesn't sound like he's worked out in a ring lately, and has he worked a stint in OVW?
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2003 He has worked for OVW, actually.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 20, 2003 I think Rhyno IS ready...they just haven't put him on yet... It wouldn't make sense...Why would Rhyno join anyways...He has no history with Brock or Benoit...Edge he does... I still think Rhyno would work better in TBS role...Loner who doesn't work with the rest of the family...but still does what Heyman says... I say go with the 3 Vs 2 angle...no replacement...Have Benoit and Angle kicking ass around 30 minutes into it...Then Rhyno charges in...GORES GORES GORES Benoit and leaves...Benoit is crippled and Brock is left on his own and TBS comes out and Chokeslams Brock through the table and Angle takes a lead pipe and shatters Brock's left ankle...places him into the Angle Lock and Brock passes out from the pain amisdt the shattered remains of the table... Guest Anglesault Report post Posted February 20, 2003 I'm not thrilled with any of those. Angle should go over Lesnar semi/totally cleanly, IMO.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 20, 2003 AS...Get out of here...You never have anything important to say...It's the same old tired bullshit...fuck off.
Guest Brian Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Rhyno should be saved at this point, not thrown into the WrestleMania mix. Night after Mania, they pull the trigger on Angle/Rhyno when Angle breaks off from Heyman.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Makes sense...as I could see Heyman doing a "You're a disgrace, Kurt, You ruined my beautiful plan, But Don't you worry kurt, I'll make sure that my prodigy teaches you a lesson..." BOOM! GORE GORE GORE! Rhyno from no where...Heyman "GORE GORE GORE! Baby! See Kurt, I was wrong, Rhyno here...he is what can get the job done...not you Kurt". but it won't happen... Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Its too early to turn Angle face again. They can't keep flip flopping guys between face and heel so much because it makes face/heel turns seem unimportant.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Did they ever give Rhyno an injury angle or anything? Cause I remember his last match was against Angle
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted February 20, 2003 I think Rhyno got suspended from the Alliance for losing a title match. Don't think he's been seen since.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Wait...Remember he and Bischoff had a convo eariler this year...I think they clearly said Rhyno was hurt...and he also make a segment on HEAT in a one on one with Tazz and he said he injuried his neck...
