Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Stat Tracker is free until July in Yahoo. Its free until July as long as July starts April 7th.. And a check of the stat tracker shows I am in DEAD LAST. Way to go me!!WHOOO!
Guest razazteca Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 the stats really don't count until the next day well its free for now so use it while you can
Guest alkeiper Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Corey Patterson hits 2 HRs, 7 RBIs, and he's sitting on my bench. Crap. Kerry Wood picks up a victory, and Mike MacDougal picks up a save. Not bad.
Guest razazteca Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 my last minute FA pick ups did well for me, got 2 HR and some RBIs.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Crawford and Pierzynski Homered Buerhle pitched well but lost.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 If my current level of suckiness continues much longer..Im going to go mad.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 I haven't had a pitcher Win a game yet.
Guest razazteca Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 You think you have it bad, I have more than one pitcher with a ERA above 9.00 and only 6 strikeouts. anybody in the other league care to send me a trade offer.
Guest jimmy no nose Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 I don't think my team looks too good, but they've performed well so far. First place may be gone soon though.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Honestly I'm not that concerend. Buehrle, Garcia, Mulder, and Morris are all good starters, and should give me all at least 15 wins each.
Guest alkeiper Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 I'm waiting for someone to panic and start trading good players with bad first months.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Im about ready to start taking offers for Adam Dunn and or Andruw Jones.. After unsucessful attempts at landing a backup SS, I picked up Royce Clayton.. How Mark Redman passed under everyone's radar after a win and 10 Ks beats me.. And Im in 11th place, out of the basement..
Guest CanadianChris Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 0 saves...of course, when your two relievers are on teams that get swept in their opeining series, you gotta expect that, I guess. Perfectly middle of the road, exactly where I expected to be.
Guest razazteca Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 I'm waiting for someone to panic and start trading good players with bad first months I already gave you Kevin Brown and Roberto Alomar. me = ?
Guest alkeiper Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Not quite you, yet at least. Here's an example. Juan Cruz gets 6 Ks in two innings, so someone in my Yahoo public league picked him up. Problem is, he dropped Billy Wagner to get him. Now, why the hell would you drop Billy Wagner?
Guest razazteca Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Are you sure your not refering me? I picked up Juan Cruz and dropped Eric Karros. Me personally I need strike outs badly.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 lol at dropping Billy Wagner for Juan Cruz..
Guest Kingpk Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 I'm fairly satisfied with my team, and I think I could stand to lose a good hitter if I get a good pitcher in return. Make your offers!
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 lol at me saying I want to trade Dunn and Jones and they both bust out and hit homers, even though I had Dunn on the bench..
Guest alkeiper Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 Dropping Karros is a good move regardless of who you get back in return.
Guest alkeiper Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 Two homers for Dunn. I should've grabbed Dunn from Marvin while I had the chance.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 Two homers for Dunn. I should've grabbed Dunn from Marvin while I had the chance. Yeah, you should of cause I probably would have taken just about any offer. Zambrano got me 8 Ks in like 5 innings..Dunn's 2 HR (played him today whoohoo) Julio blew a save though..but the Os still won (God Bless the Red Sox horrible bullpen!)
Guest DrTom Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 The money league draft was this weekend. I only had $75 to spend on 13 players, but given those financial constraints, I think I did pretty well. I probably overpaid for one fellow (Matsui, $25), but that's it. I got several bargains, including Jeff Conine at $5, Ken Harvey at $6, Ruben Sierra at $5, and Gene Kingsale at $6. The quest to defend the title is now officially underway.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Who is Ken Harvey? DH for the Royals, has 3 runs, 3 RBI and a .429 OBP according to yahoo from the fantasy player lookup in the SM league. And btw Dr. Tom, I don't think I would have ponied up a third of my money for an unproven Japanese league hitter whose main strength is hitting homers, and not speed, average and OBP. As far as my team goes, my pitching is off an on, doing well in Wins and K's, but so far getting blown away in WHIP and ERA. On the hitting side I've got a lot of pop, but no speed and Im average at best with runs and OBP. Hopefully Xavier Nady, who plays for the piss poor Padres can provide me with some speed and pop, although I'm probably going to have to sit some one in the OF or a utility man. At the present time it might be Gibbons, although Im going to play Gibbons for the O's series with Tampa because Gibbons did well last year playing in Tampa if I remember correctly. I might need to trade someone, but Im going to hold off and see if Nady can keep it up and if I can afford to trade someone..
Guest alkeiper Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 And btw Dr. Tom, I don't think I would have ponied up a third of my money for an unproven Japanese league hitter whose main strength is hitting homers, and not speed, average and OBP. Matsui had OBPs of .443, .466, and .458 the last three years.

Matsui had OBPs of .443, .466, and .458 the last three years. I could get those kinda numbers in the Japanese League...
Guest DrTom Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 The Japanese league isn't the walk in the park a lot of people think it is. The ballparks have gotten bigger over the years, and they're pretty comparable with MLB stadiums. The quality of pitching is probably a little lower in Japan, but it's not like it's AAA ball. Batting averages (the money leaguye doesn't use OBP, though I wish it did) can be slightly inflated because fewer errors are scored (cultural intolerance for mistakes). While I know Matsui is unproven, his numbers and underlying skill indicators are off the charts, and there's no reason not to think he won't be successful as a major-leage player in this country. I think he was a little pricey at $25 (by comparison, Ichiro went for $27 his first year), but if he hits .280-.290 with 25-30 homers, he'll earn it back nicely.
