Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 We have received word that there is a great deal of talk backstage at Raw in Long Island regarding Kurt Angle and his immediate future in regards to an injury either suffered or aggravated during the Smackdown tour in South Africa. Details are very sketchy at this time, but I was told by a source that Angle has been working hurt for some time, and that he is scheduled to have tests done this week to see what the extent of his injury is, and what kind of shape he is in as Wrestlemania approaches. I could not get a confirmation if this was a neck or knee injury, or what, if anything, happened in South Africa, but it was confirmed to me that Angle will be seeing a doctor this week for tests, and that the situation is serious enough that there is discussions regarding what will be done if he can't wrestle at Wrestlemania. We will post more on this situation as it becomes available. 1wrestling.com
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Guest bob_barron Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 With all the recent injuries I wonder if they're gonna ban house shows after NWO till WM
Guest fazzle Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Your NEW Wrestlemania main event: Brock Lesnar vs. Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin, A-Train, Big Show, and Paul Heyman in a 5 on 1 Hell in a Cell. Brock wins in under 4 minutes.
Guest Choken One Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Woah...Forget Batistia and Orton...This is the REAL injury scare...We'll If it's serious...I expect Angle to go ahead and wrestle the match regardless and take the leave of absence...I really can't believe WWE's luck...The WWE champion getting injured 4 weeks before Mania...
Guest El Satanico Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Smackdown was touring South Africa?
Guest Showstoppa Icon Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 well, im sure HHH will use this an excuse to have his match be the main event. Seriously, though, this sux bigtime. Even if he does make it to mania, he could be out for a while.
Guest Nevermortal Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Dammit, I hate these tours to the outside the US. Something bad usually comes of it.
Guest Choken One Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 The only Alternative is this... Heyman secrectly tricks lesnar into signing a contract that says if Heyman wins the Cage match...Angle doesn't have to Defend the title at MANIA...Heyman wins BUT Stephanie realizes what Heyman did and ANNOUNCED Benoit/Angle on the SPOT...they do a 10 minute match...Benoit wins it and fights Lesnar... Or Angle can be a man and do the match
Guest Lightning Flik Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Smackdown was touring South Africa? Yah. There were just doing an international tour down there. AND DAMMIT~! I wouldn't be surprised if Angle was hurt seriously enough that he can't go... God, not another of the SD 6... It's now SD4.... As far as backup plan is concerned, all I could see is Angle getting stripped of the title, and then Lesnar vs Benoit at Mania for the title...
Guest Choken One Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Hoo Hoo...Can't WAIT for AS's reaction...
Guest bob_barron Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Mania is 27 days away- Just not have him wrestle and hopefully he'll be fine
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Or Angle can be a man and do the match The last thing you want someone with a neck injury to do is make it worse by wrestling. It could make his time off a lot longer.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Mania is 27 days away- Just not have him wrestle and hopefully he'll be fine That's assuming that nothings serious. But knowing the WWE's luck, I'd imagine it is.
Guest Choken One Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Yeah, That is the best Idea... Have Lesnar face Each member of Team Angle as "Warm Ups" for Mania...and Angle can revive the Crutches and be uber bad ass agayne..
Guest nikowwf Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 I'll believe it when i see it in Meltzer...its not even a dave report right now (buck woodward) so im not going to panic YET. niko
Guest bob_barron Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Does anyone other confirmation besides 1bob? Angle should suck it up and do the match if it's not THAT bad. But I think Benoit v. Lesnar is the perfect alternative

True for the most part but on some occasions...the injury reached the fucked up point to the limit and you could actully motivate yourself to wrestle/perform knowing it CAN'T get worse...and it won't make any difference...
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Some of the people here will be happy. The feud was corny anyway....... So many WWE injuries.....this looks like a bad injury year for the WWE.

Lesnar is the perfect alternative Would win though? Seriously, if Benoit vs Lesnar happened, who would you give the title to? I mean, sure Lesnar has been on his quest to get it back, but Benoit has been proving that he CAN carry it with all the great matches he's having (hey, he did a decent match with Albert that = GREAT in my opinion).
Guest MrRant Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Eh.. this is what is called having a backup plan.
Guest jester Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 The whole locker room is getting hit with injuries, and they're adding more house shows to the schedules too, aren't they? This is just the beginning.

I would put Benoit over to build to a rematch with Brock at Summerslam. But who knows how long Angle is out for
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Benoit is not nearly ready to be in a Wrestlemania main event against Brock. They basically would have no choice but to send Rock back to Smackdown and do Rock/Brock for the title.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 If HBK could wrestle Austin in HIS condition at XIV, then Angle can do the J-O-B in his.
Guest Choken One Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Yeah, Then you really book yourself into a Corner...Logic suggests now that what MIGHT have been the Main event is now the 9:25 match...I was certain LaRock and Austin was Main eventing anyhoo...if Angle is indeed out...it's pretty confirmed... It would be the BEST time to put it on Benoit and do the Rematch title switch at Backlash or J.D and then if Angle is back soon enough, Angle can have the HUGE First SD only ppv match with Brock...
