Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Update from 1wrestling: To follow up on the Kurt Angle item posted in the Newsline, I have received more details on the situation. Angle has been working with a hurt neck for some time, and it was aggravated while wrestling this past weekend in South Africa. There was not a specific incident or a new injury, but Angle simply reaggravated his already hurt neck while working on the shows. I have been told that he will see a doctor this week for tests, and that is what is being discussed backstage at Raw. While there is concern over Angle's neck, the general consensus is that Angle will make it to Wrestlemania unless someone tells him he can't wrestle. Obviously, there is always concern when talking about neck injuries, but if I was a betting man, I would put my money on Angle making it to the big show.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 I would put Benoit over to build to a rematch with Brock at Summerslam. But who knows how long Angle is out for If it's Angle's knee again (that wouldn't be good) that he just had surgery on before, I'd suspect he's gone for a couple of months this time around. Edit: Scratch that... Crisis isn't bad as it first seems.
Rob E Dangerously Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 i'm sure that Angle will just lay back and job quickly at Wrestlemania to Lesnar
Guest bob_barron Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 If HBK can wrestle Austin in HIS condition, then Angle can do the J-O-B in his. Good point except the fact that HBK knew that after this one there'd be no more. HBK even managed to do a kip-up in his condition which still amazes me. I think he should gut it out and do the job- but of course we don't know the severity of it yet . Just read Old School's post- Thank god
Guest Choken One Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Benoit is not nearly ready to be in a Wrestlemania main event against Brock. They basically would have no choice but to send Rock back to Smackdown and do Rock/Brock for the title. No Chance...Now that Goldberg isn't going to happen for the time being for Mania...Rock/Austin is NEEDED for the Main event draw now...The best choice is clearly Benoit/Lesnar which has SOME back story...
Guest Zack Malibu Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 If HBK could wrestle Austin in HIS condition at XIV, then Angle can do the J-O-B in his. I was just going to post the same thing. If Angle feels he can work through it, he would go out there and do the right thing for Brock. Worst case scenario-Austin goes to Smackdown, and they play off him not wanting to face Brock as a stepping stone before. Austin/Brock at WM, while Rock puts someone new over for a change.
Guest bob_barron Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Hey- why not bring in Goldberg?? Him v. Lesnar could draw. I'm against bringing him in but desperate times call for desperate measures

Rock/Austin has been done so many times that it no longer has any drawing power left.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Hey- why not bring in Goldberg?? Him v. Lesnar could draw. I'm against bringing him in but desperate times call for desperate measures Goldberg refuses to face Lesnar.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Unless he's got a stomach ache there's no reason he can't take an F-5. As for the rest of the match: Take it easy on the suplexs, do a lot of amatuer stuff, and do a spot where Brock kills Heyman to kill some time.
Guest Choken One Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 If they HAVE to use some one other then Benoit...Rock is better rather then Lesnar...since Rocko won't be around to do that angle...They could do Austin/Lesnar anytime they feel like it...

Guest Lightning Flik Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Austin/Brock at WM, while Rock puts someone new over for a change. I'd die if that someone was the Hurricane.

Just read Old School's post- Thank god If it's the same injury Edge, Benoit, Austin, and Rhyno got then he can still do simple bumps and take an F-5.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 The only problem I have with Kurt doing a quick job to Lesnar is that to the marks it will make Angle look like a weak pussy. Not that they haven't already done that to him, but in the biggest ppv of the year, that would hurt him quite a bit.l
Guest bob_barron Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Hey- why not bring in Goldberg?? Him v. Lesnar could draw. I'm against bringing him in but desperate times call for desperate measures Goldberg refuses to face Lesnar. I think the prospect of a big payoff could bring him in but I forgot that Goldberg refused to work with him. Angle v. Benoit v. Lesnar is the way to go I say
Guest Choken One Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 I like the Three way but I don't like it at Mania...Oh Well...Angle can take big bump in the middle and let Benoit and Lesnar wrestle out for about 20 minutes...Revive himself...and Job to Lesnar cleanly... OF COURSE ROCK/AUSTIN still has Drawing Power! Are U nutty!
Guest Lightning Flik Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 This RAW will show whether it's a draw or not. They could also do a three way with Benoit if Angle can't go Hm... Has it's possibilities and makes both Benoit and Lesnar get a little heat going before they go toe to toe. Yet, how would Benoit end up in this specified match? Angle's gotta screw Benoit good somehow. And besides, I just remembered, isn't Benoit and Rhyno facing Los Guerreros and Team Angle for the Tag Titles?

They could also do a three way with Benoit if Angle can't go No, it won't. This RAW is built around the Austin return, not the Austin/Rock feud. It will draw just because it is the first time Austin will have been on free TV in months. Rock & Austin aren't even feuding yet. Rock just took a cheapshot at Austin in one interview. That's it.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Austin/Brock will immediately turn Brock heel. A bad idea since they are building him up as the next big face. WWE needs to start looking towards the future, like RIGHT NOW!
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 I was just thinking to myself last night while watching Vengeance 2001 how Angle has managed to go pretty injury-free in his WWE career so far. So much for that. Fuck.
Guest Choken One Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 What do you mean there is NO fued? They have been Hyping ROCK/AUSTIN on TNN non stop for a whole week...selling an Face to Face confrontation... Rock called him out before the Hurricane segment...I think it's crystal clear they have a " fued" going and besides the fued from 2001 NEVER actually ended...

Not that they haven't already done that to him, but in the biggest ppv of the year, that would hurt him quite a bit.l I don't think they have much choice. This is the first time IN YEARS. That they've had a long-running UBER-HOT storyline come to a close at 'Mania, namely Brock's hunt for the title and vengeance on Heyman. To end it any other way but having Angle job to Brock at 'Mania is anti-climactic at best, and stupid at worst. I'm pretty sure Angle could tough-out ten good minutes with Brock, but if he couldn't then when the marks read about how hurt he was, they will understand.

Guest Zack Malibu Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Benoit and Rhyno are rumored for the Tag Title match, right? I'd say they'd scrap that, and just have a straight up Los Guerreros vs. Team Angle match, maybe with some type of gimmick thrown in (2/3 falls, anyone?). Goldberg coming in just to be fed right away to Brock is sort of counterproductive. I don't like Goldberg, but he'd need to be built up again before putting anyone over. And having him go over Brock is a no-no. Worst Case Scenario: Lesnar vs. Austin The Rock vs. Shawn Michaels (blowoff the Jericho feud on RAW, or have RVD go over Rock. I'd like to see the latter, but they'd most likely be tempted by the star power of Rock vs HBK.)

Actually, I'd more inclined to say that if Austin went to face Brock, Rock would probably end up facing Hurricane a little sooner than he said he wanted to.

WWE needs to start looking towards the future, like RIGHT NOW! Geez, you'd think we were talking about the Rock instead of Brock. Kahran, while Brock wouldn't out-pop Austin, if you go the "mutual respect" road with both men getting increasingly brutal equally then neitherman has to turn heel. They can both be faces with Austin getting a slightly better reaction.
