Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 4, 2003 Hell I already knew he'd be out for a year...I knew it as soon as the injury was reported on.
Guest Aero Report post Posted March 4, 2003 I guess the next best thing would be to have Benoit step up, but of course, Rock vs. Austin will be the final match on the card.
EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2003 Everybody is worried about having a heel face Brock for the title...but why not let Benoit face Brock in a "respect" like match? I mean, shit, it couldn't hurt...
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 4, 2003 Rock vs. Austin would've been the main regardless. Hell Vince vs. Hogan would've likely been above Angle vs. Brock as well.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted March 4, 2003 I still find this as a positive for a few reasons. For one, it's a GOOD THING that they are going to pull him right now instead of push him to go to Mania anyhow. He can now take the time off he DESERVES, and get all healed up. You do have to admit that Kurt could use some time off for a couple of reasons. Has he EVER had an extended time off? I don't WANT him gone, but you have to admit that it could possibly help him long term. By now you know what I think they should do now, so I wont go into that. 2003 may not be the year of Team Angle, but it WILL be the year of The Wolverine! We're going to see Benoit, Rhyno, Nathan Jones, Lesner, John Cena, and other such guys getting a LOT of exposure this year, and by the time Angle gets back maybe, just MAYBE, we can have a much more meaningfull Benoit/Angle feud, and Lesner/Angle feud. My only question is this... ...just what happens to "Team Angle"? Will they stay together with Heyman just being a tag team? Will they drop that name for them and just have someone like Rhyno or Benoit join them? What would you do with this team right now?
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted March 4, 2003 I took this from the other thread about Angle yesterday. Obviously, some of the things I say in here are not going to happen...so just take it for what it's worth: Okay, here's my backup plan. Tonight on Raw, have Rock/Austin confrontation, Austin challenges for Mania (very similiar to Rock/Hogan confrontation from last year), Rock simply says "No", and leaves for the evening. Austin starts a program with.....who the fuck knows. Move Rock to SD, have him beat Angle on SD for the title in a squash (Don't ask how the fuck they will explain it, but it's logical) and do Rock/Brock at Mania. If they call pull it off, Do Austin/Goldberg...but I sincerely don't see that happening at all. And you can't do Brock/Austin cause the fans will boo Austin. Then again, it would make a lot of sense if Austin/Brock happened. Austin says tonight his contract isn't with Raw, it's with SD (he either signed while he was gone or his stipulation match with Ric Flair before he left included having control if he walked out about what brand he returned to or something stupid like that, but at least an explanation). Rock can go to.....Goldberg if they do it. Angle comes out in a neckbrace, says he's hurt from S. Africa tour, and is going to rest up til Mania....Austin comes out, says when he signed with SD, he got a title shot in his contract, KICK WHAM SUPER SAFE DONT HURT KURT ANYMORE WHAT? I SAID DONT HURT KURT ANYMORE stunner, Austin/Brock at Mania.

Guest Downhome Report post Posted March 4, 2003 There is no need at ALL to bring in an Austin, Rocky, Goldberg, or ANYONE else new to Smackdown, not for Lesner anyhow.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 4, 2003 Everybody is worried about having a heel face Brock for the title...but why not let Benoit face Brock in a "respect" like match? I mean, shit, it couldn't hurt... Mostly because Angle doesn't look like he could take Brock, but since Angle can handle Benoit, benoit looks like a write off. As for the news, oh well. Look at the bright side of this. He gets out of the feud from all hell, gets a paid year off, and will get a neck surgery that might make his neck stronger than ever. Okay, it sucks quite a bit, but isntead of being Negative-Sault, I'm looking at the positive
Guest pochorenella Report post Posted March 4, 2003 My God, what a bad break for Kurt and for the WWE. One one hand you have the biggest how of the year being nicely built up with Kurt and Lesnar and BAM! That goes down the drain. But on the other hand, you really have to wonder if Kurt could've pushed it for that last match. I think it's better he's pulled out and gets well rested and recovered instead of forcing him to do the Mania match. Still, it really sucks that this happened. Hopefully Kurt Angle gets back to 100% a year from now. I know I'll miss him terribly. I truly think Benoit should be the top choice for that Mania spot, hopefully in a "respect" match. Don't turn him heel at this point. Get well soon, Kurt.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 4, 2003 I'd keep them with the "Team Angle" amateur background gimmick but I would possibly rename them. What other guys do they have that could take the role of "amateur wrestler" and look legit. Rhyno would fit that gimmick and I don't think Kanyon would either. If Benoit turned he would fit with them. Likely they will just keep them as a tag team with Heyman as their mouth piece. I doubt they change their look, gimmick or name. They may include someone else who needs Heyman as a mouthpiece as a enforcer.

Guest Downhome Report post Posted March 4, 2003 Am I just crazy, or didn't they make the piledriver and other such "neck risk" moves "illegal" in order to stop these sort of injury's? I don't think that plan is working out.

But yet, I don't think anyone is happy about it. Probably Kurt, least of all.
Guest Banky Report post Posted March 4, 2003 It sounds ghey, but the WWE has a tailor made feud between Lesnar/Cena already made. This *IS* Cena's time to shine. He must step up and prove himself to be a big player in the company. He has the chance to be the #1 heel on Smackdown. I say (biasely of course) that Cena should be given the ultimate shove. Guest evilhomer Report post Posted March 4, 2003 FUUUUUUUUCK So how does he relinquish the title? I hope they let him come out, give an emotional heartfelt speech, and vow to come back better than ever. I also hope the crowd shows enough class to lay off the "You suck" chants. The worst they could do is have a "backstage altercation" where Angle is left lying, then the following week have Stephanie strip him of the title.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted March 4, 2003 I wonder if he'll show up to sign autographs and whatnot at Fan Axcess? I don't want to spend an hour in a line to talk to HHH. *snooze*
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 4, 2003 My God, what a bad break for Kurt and for the WWE. One one hand you have the biggest how of the year being nicely built up with Kurt and Lesnar and BAM! That goes down the drain. That match was ruined a LONG time ago. I'm not quite sure why everyone thinks it will be hard to replace.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted March 4, 2003 I see Benoit/Brock, but doesn't that make Benoit look weak when he loses because he's NEVER won the WWE Title match yet. Would it not be fantastic if they decided to save Brock Lesner's big win for the first Smackdown exclusive PPV in order to boost that buyrate? I say have Benoit win it, have him defend it succesfully a few times, and THEN have Lesner beat him at that first SD exclusive. That's exactly how I'd book it. You know, to truely build up anticipation in the fans eyes for Brock to finally win it back.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 4, 2003 Well they could get by that with focusing on Brock and Beniot having mutual respect for each other after a long hard match. That would lead to a potential heel turn for one of them.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 4, 2003 My God that is the toughest break ever. Will they hold up the title and have Brock beat someone else for it now? If he starts squashing Benoit on SD! this week we'll now who his opponent is.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted March 4, 2003 I say have Benoit win it This is Wrestlemania....WRESTLEMANIA. MAIN EVENT. Do you honestly see Vince putting Benoit over his pet project at HIS creation show? I'd be the biggest markout moment ever, but I honestly don't see Benoit getting put over. And Benoit losing the WWE title match hurts him even more. Then again, he gets a main event match at Mania which would fucking rule.
Guest Banky Report post Posted March 4, 2003 The WWE shouldn't waste Benoit vs. Lesnar on this short of notice. This match is obviously not going to be the finishing match on the show, so use this chance the elevate a star. The build for Lesnar vs. Benoit at SS. That kind of feud deserves a healthy build-up as they are the 2 biggest stars left on Smackdown.

You know, to truely build up anticipation in the fans eyes for Brock to finally win it back. Not only that, but Benoit would also be the only person in the WWE who's able to claim that he's beaten Lesnar clean. Last time I checked no one's done it yet. Wouldn't that be a hell of a boost for Benoit? I don't think he'd be a midcard/uppercard player after that. I say, I'm all for this "respect" match.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted March 4, 2003 Is this the first time ever that the World Champion has been taken out just weeks before Wrestlemania? I also think of it like this. We are in store for a VERY interesting month leading up to Wrestlemania.

I don't think that plan is working out. I don't know. HHH got a boo boo or something on the tombstone from Judgment Day 00 and with Austin coming back with the bad neck everything went to hell. If he starts squashing Benoit on SD! this week we'll now who his opponent is. Well obviously. Why would that change that moeny making title feud plan at this point?
