Guest Angle-plex Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Anyone think they *may* use Cena? I definetly don't want to see it, but I understand he's been calling out Brock lately, and the WWE probably figures they will get enough buys with Rock/Austin.
Guest The Last Free Voice Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 sadly wwE will most likely go with taker- brock III as opposed to beniot/brock
Guest Lightning Flik Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 We are in store for a VERY interesting month leading up to Wrestlemania. Hm... So many what ifs can occur... Can't wait till Thursday....
Guest HartFan86 Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Tonight's Smackdown is going to be the biggest Taping in a LONG time. I'm imaging there is absoulte mayhem backstage right now.
Guest Anglesault Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 The WWE shouldn't waste Benoit vs. Lesnar on this short of notice. This match is obviously not going to be the finishing match on the show, so use this chance the elevate a star. The build for Lesnar vs. Benoit at SS. That kind of feud deserves a healthy build-up as they are the 2 biggest stars left on Smackdown. No way. if you are talking about who I think you are, that match as one of the main matches of wrestlemania will be laughed out of the building.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Austin vs Brock for title unifaction at WM. Rock and Vince interferes and screws Austin, allows Lesnar to win, and the titles remain split through Dusty Finish. Thus setting Austin/Rock for Backlash, allows time for Lesnar to feud with Benoit, and keeps Austin happy because Lesnar didn't go over him clean. That's the best way I can book it.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 As a Kurt Angle fan I'm happy that this ridiculous feud won't have to end with him jobbing after being embarrassed every night. When he comes back they'll have to push him strong. But a year WITHOUT ANGLE???? They won't push Benoit or Eddy in a meaningful way...any workrate in the main events is out.
Guest El Satanico Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Since Beniot is kinda lost at sea with no real direction I see them turning him heel since they need someone on the main event level that directly opposes Brock. But hopefully they don't pull that trigger quickly and lets the heel turn build up some steam.
Guest Rob Edwards Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Rhyno has to be the wa to go here, Cena just isn't credible as a threat yet
Guest Lightning Flik Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Anyone think they *may* use Cena? I definetly don't want to see it, but I understand he's been calling out Brock lately, and the WWE probably figures they will get enough buys with Rock/Austin. Actually, that sadly makes sense. What's worse, is if Cena were to beat Brock... I mean, Cena's definitely getting beat with his mic work, but in ring...? ugh...
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Is this the first time ever that the World Champion has been taken out just weeks before Wrestlemania? No. Shawn Michaels screwed up booking plans before Wrestlemania XIII. It was a couple of weeks earlier, right before Final Four, but it really screwed up Wrestlemania that year.
Guest Anglesault Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 I also think of it like this. We are in store for a VERY interesting month leading up to Wrestlemania. In the sense that a car wreck makes us stop and look? As a Kurt Angle fan I'm happy that this ridiculous feud won't have to end with him jobbing after being embarrassed every night. But a year WITHOUT ANGLE???? I know. Damned if you do it on a double edged sword or something.
Guest HartFan86 Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Austin vs Brock for title unifaction at WM. Why not have Austin job clean to Lesnar? He said he would for a big match (Wrestlemania if they do it) and not on some fucking last minute bullshit (On Raw). It's a possiblity.
Guest teke184 Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Is this the first time ever that the World Champion has been taken out just weeks before Wrestlemania? I also think of it like this. We are in store for a VERY interesting month leading up to Wrestlemania. Well, HBK DID come up with a "knee injury" in 1997 about 6-7 weeks before Wrestlemania which completely screwed up the title situation. No matter how you cut it, Taker vs. Sid was NEVER the big plan going into Wrestlemania 13. On the plus side, all the screwy shit ended up with Austin-Bret in an I Quit match which ended up making Wrestlemania 14 HUGE because it made Austin a superstar.
Guest Banky Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Why is Cena a joke? I'm confused. This could be his chance to get the rub. This kid is 25 years old, with ridiculous amounts of charisma. Even if everyone thinks the decision is a joke right now, in the long run it'll be the best for everyone involved. I'd say Rhyno is far more unproven than Cena. Cena has the feud made for him already. If everything unfolds correctly, Cena would look like a star. He is the Great White Hope.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 I would rather have Angle get crushed in 30 seconds by Brock than be without him for a year.
Guest HartFan86 Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Alright, after thinking about this, I think the best thing to do is have Angle pull the "HBK drops the title" speech on Smackdown tonight....except he actually fucking MEANS it and it's seriously to the heart. I could see the entire arena in tears if they play it up right.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 I would not buy a pay per view with Cena vs. Brock for the WWE title at this point in time. Not even WrestleMania.
Guest Downhome Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 I also think of it like this. We are in store for a VERY interesting month leading up to Wrestlemania. In the sense that a car wreck makes us stop and look? Something like that, yes. We have basicly NO idea what they are going to do now, and pretty much all of us are interested in finding out. I know it's not for the right reasons, but when was the last time that we've had that feeling? We could get anything from a truly classic situation to a pure shit situation, it's just wait and see now. I can't wait to see how they possibly work this out on TV this Thursday, and then the weeks leading up to WM.
Guest Banky Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 I would not buy a pay per view with Cena vs. Brock for the WWE title at this point in time. Not even WrestleMania. Besides Lesnar vs. Benoit, what would be an ideal match? There isn't. This match won't be headlining the card anyway, so why not use it to elevate someone?
Guest BoboBrazil Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Team Angle is so fucked. They have no purpose now. I think they'll bring in Goldberg to replace Angle. It would give the fans a match they want and he would be a credible opponent for Lesnar.
Guest Downhome Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Alright, after thinking about this, I think the best thing to do is have Angle pull the "HBK drops the title" speech on Smackdown tonight... As oppose to the "Angle lost his smile speach", I think you have the right idea, heh.
Guest NoSelfWorth Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 If Angle does do the the vacating-the-title speech, it will be next week, as Smackdown is in his hometown. He'll get ultra face heat.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Why not have Austin job clean to Lesnar? He said he would for a big match (Wrestlemania if they do it) and not on some fucking last minute bullshit (On Raw). It's a possiblity. Because this IS last minute bullshit, put together at the last possible moment to fill a gap. Austin is usually a company man, but this is the reason he left in the first place and I think he wants a proper buildup if he's to job clean. Also, I think if they take HHH's belt and put it on Austin RIGHT NOW, then just use him as a transitional champ for Lesnar... Yuck. I think that, for the moment, two champs are better than one floating champ. But you need the title unifaction thing for the two of them to actually be in each others' universe. Unless Austin just goes to SD next week and challenges Brock.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Team Angle is so fucked. They have no purpose now. Hmph... I can beat ya that they'll become something OTHER than Team Angle.
Guest HartFan86 Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Why not have Austin job clean to Lesnar? He said he would for a big match (Wrestlemania if they do it) and not on some fucking last minute bullshit (On Raw). It's a possiblity. Because this IS last minute bullshit, put together at the last possible moment to fill a gap. 4 weeks of buildup is better than whatever amount of time on that Raw they were going to give it.
Guest snuffbox Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Well if I was the bookerman...Id hold the title up and do Benoit vs Brock at the WM. Benoit wins with interferance from Heyman/Team Angle. Brock chases Benoit before winning back title. Spend the year pushing Benoit back away from Heyman and towards being a babyface. Angle shows up with a few appearances/vignettes/promos jealous of Benoit and pissed at TA/Heyman deserting him. Benoit and Brock trade title in good matches. When Angle returns he can realign with his Team Angle and destroy Benoit setting up finally their meaninful main event fued after a year of clever booking around Angles injury and all the variables I listed.

Besides Lesnar vs. Benoit, what would be an ideal match? There isn't. This match won't be headlining the card anyway, so why not use it to elevate someone? Even Rhyno has more credibility than John Cena right now. The fact is that for the past few weeks, John Cena has been NOTHING but a joke. Just look at his VERY over the top gimmick, look at who he's worked with in the past (Red Dogg and BB). I am one of the biggest fans of Cena here, as I proclaimed him future world champ, and a superstar the very first time I saw him in OVW and then when he was on WWE TV, but not even I can look at him as anything other than a Lesner squash. If they started right NOW however, and lightened up on the gimmick, and made him look something of a serious threat, maybe just MAYBE we could have it, but NOT as he is right now.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 clever booking WWE + clever booking = not happening right now
Guest HartFan86 Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 If Angle does do the the vacating-the-title speech, it will be next week, as Smackdown is in his hometown. He'll get ultra face heat. NO WAY....Oh my god if this isn't the most perfect timing to a bad situation, I have no idea what is.
