Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Which were your favorite all time tag teams???? Your Top Ten. Judge them by these factors, Workrate, Character presentation, Entertainment value or just the inexplainable reason. You can explain why you pick them or..... Not... no one needs to defend their favorites one rule though you can't name a team you never really saw... claiming your favorite team was the Brainbusters when you never really saw the Brainbusters doesn't say much, other than you heard others say it and you had concurred with them. So only those 10 you personally seen tapes of, or seen them live. Here we go for mine. 10. The Islanders there just had to be a number 10 and these are it. Mid 80's Haku and Tama were really a Team that had opportunity, they are in fact the only Samoan team that never weight at a total combined weight of 700 pounds. the Islanders were fast and had strength and agility and had real promise. Its a shame they never did anything serious with them. For those who never considered Haku being much of a wrestler watch Survivor series 87 and watch The Islanders hang in there in the tag team SS match. and that particular match was the longest of the PPV and the Islanders was in the longest of their team and were at the end. 9. The Rougeus Bros another team that had loads of potential for themselves. all but dubbed the Eastern Canadian Hart foundation, the team went from babyface to classic heels when they went with Jimmy Hart and tried to transplant themselves as Americans. Of course the team broke up and Jacque manage to get a longer career stint in the WWF Wrestling wise as the Mountie, then teaming with Pierre as the Quebeccers. While Raymond left the Wrestling portion but like Tito Santana did for the Spannish announce table, joined the Commentator's table for the French speaking Audience. 8. Power & Glory Though not a well established team that didn't last as long as most, it also had some potiental, Hercules and Paul Roma meshed Power and wrestling technique. Paul Roma of course moving on to be a member of the Horsemen in WCW in their WONDERFUL Early 90's years heh. And Hercules because the Super Invader. Hercules should have at least once wore the IC belt back in the day. But hell what can ya do? 7. Strike Force you may wonder why this is so High up, in reality, I only saw a handful of matches by Santana and Martel in recent years on tapes. Of course I grew up watching wrestling, but I don't got every PPV yet so I got just a vague recollection. What I know is that both were Skilled Fast and impactful heh. The kind of team that can come up with those Double team moves. Tito in my opinion should had gotten more out of his WWF career, even though he was IC champ before I started watching in 86 but his career spanned for what is at least a decade. Tito manage to make everyone who faces him look good, and lot of wrestlers you may known today got a win off a ring vet like Santana. Martel is another great wrestler, its unfortunate his career got terminated relatively early when he went to WCW. 6. Demolition This isn't a Team of excellent wrestling ability... But they are a Great Character team. Its one of those things where these guys just compelled you to cheer for them. They had great Entrance Music, their Road Warrior Knock off Facepaint and Black Jason style hockeymasks. Demolition was a great Power team and was definately successful in their years in WWF. Crush of course joined up about the time Ax was in Decline and left all together. Crush and Smash didn't have the same chemistry. Crush of course because Crush and ummm Crush and Ummm Crush again then Brian Adams of nWo and Kronik. Smash became the Repo Man, a heel with few wrestling abilities but another character gimmick which you just love to boo at...and as Barry Darsow...which I hardly ever saw. Ax left wrestling and last I heard joined up with the NWA terrtory of the Mid Atlantic wrestling. 5. The Rockers As a tag team they were stellar in character and wrestling ability. What they were was pure speed and hit and run moves. Rockers vs Orient Express feud was one of their best in their careers. Its a shame they never really got much Belt time but hell the Rockers opened the door for at least one of them to go one to a bigger and better career and singles...and that man is.... MARTY JENNETTY! No just kidding, Marty is somewhere on the highway with a sign that says WILL WRESTLE FOR FOOD. Shawn Michaels was the Charisma of the team even back then, and in singles he was able to develope his singles style which help him catapult his career too the top. 4. Eliminators A lil ECW flavor for ya. Eliminators wasn't just a Garbage wrestling tag team like alot of their peers were in ECW. Eliminators both Saturn and Kronus manage to mesh Great Crisp Wrestling ability, Strength and Speed. Even manage to pull off some Cruiserweight moves from Kronus and Saturn whom weighed aroun 280 and 235 respectively. Eliminators in ECW was deffinately a unusual Style for the promotion more suitable for Japanese Feds. But it help them both lots in their career. Saturn moved on to WCW where he is creditied for busting up Raven's Flock there, and went to WWF as one of the Radicals, but seem to be the Radical that was least likely to succeed, even though he manage to win the European and Hardcore title here and there. Kronus kept on in ECW for another year before moving off to XPW where he just can't seem to leave a match without blading. 3. Roadwarriors Another great Character team. and a Longtime team that span More Promotions together as many others have. AWA NWA WWF WCW and Japan. This was a Power team but most of all a straight charismatic Character team. Like the Demolition they had a Aura from their Facepaint Spikey shoulder pads and music people would cheer them for being Bad asses. Animal last seen officially on National TV as a Member of Flair's last stable in WCW. and Hawk went to Japan. The Roadwarriors and as the Legion of Dooms held tag team titles of three Premier promotions a record that was recently matched by the Dudley boys. 2. The British Bulldogs What you got here was one of the best 80's tag team bar none. Dynamite the Precursor of Chris benoit, which technical Abilities that was all but unmatched. and Davey boy who was the Great Powerhouse of the Team. The Great rivaries Between the Bulldogs vs the Dream team, Islanders, and the Hart Foundations is Legendary. Bulldogs winning the belts at Wm2 and in my opinion should have won them more. Had Dynamite not gotten injured nor had he had his problem with Raymond Rougeus the Bulldogs could have had the drive to go through the 80's and into the 90's. Dynamite of course is back home , and Davey boy went on to a better than Average Singles career winning European IC and Hardcore title, went to WCW, went back to WWF teaming with Owen hart for another tag team title stint, then back to WCW and came back after Owen's death. Davey boy of course also tragically died. 1. Hart Foundation Greatest long lasting tag team that went from the mid 80's too the mid 90's. Bret Hart being the obviously technically Sound wrestler and Neihart brought the strength and strange charisma. the Hart Foundations great feuds includes Strike Force, Brainbusters, Demolitions, Rougeus, Rhythum and Blues and countless others. Single's wise Bret Hart was proven to be one of the greatest Main event level wrestlers who isn't monsterously big and tall. Who got his spot from Skill and ability. Its a pity his sour relationship with Vince and what happen in Montreal. Bret Singles wise is a former IC World champ, US champ and World champ in WCW. not to mention the various titles he won back in his Stampede days and IWA in Puerto Rico. Jim Neihart was a company man and hung around WWF a few months after Bret left. Neihart also went to WCW where he had a Medicore career there similar too Bulldog's career there. Neihart rejoined WWF and became the MCW's a Former WWF Farm fed promotion tag team champion with of all people the Blue Meanie. Neihart also worked as a Trainer before was canned. Honorable mentions those that could have been named had there been a top 20 or 30. Can - Am Connection, Dream Team, the Dark Horsemen (Hennig & Windiam) Brainbusters, Rock n Roll Express, Midnight Express, Harlem Heat, Orient Express, Benoit & Malenko, Los Guerrero, Dudley boys, Edge & Christian, Hardy Boys, Team Angle, Mystero & Kidman thats my ten, what are yours? Guest Stunt Granny Report post Posted March 8, 2003 I've been watching since '93 or so, this is my list. No order Edge & Christian Funny as hell. The way the played off one another was nothing less than brilliant. The Quebecers If only for the gimmick, and theme music ruled ass. Rock 'n Sock Connection The only Superteam on the list cuz Rock and Foley were hilarious in and out of the ring. The Head Shrinkers I remember them being un-stoppable samoans that you could not hurt. Scary stuff when you're a kid. The New Age Outlaws The chemestry between these two was great until it got stale. Not as funny as E&C though. Owen Hart & Davery Boy Smith Heaven's tag team champs, Owen and Davey ruled and thats all I need to tell you. Hollywood Blonds Just like the New Age Outlaw but TALENTED!! Money Inc. I hate hate hated them when I first started watching, their classic fued with the Steiners is one of the things that got me hooked. Dudley Boyz Stale as all hell now, but in ECW and early WWF Buh Buh and DVon were two sick sadistic motherfuckers. Harlem Heat I dunno I just tought they were cool whether they were faces or heels. I can't remeber what led to thier split though. There is my 10, I didn't really go for who I though were the best workers since workrate wise some of the teams I listed stunk up the ring sometimes. But they all had that X factor (damn I forgot to mention them) that made them memorable.
EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2003 1. The Holy Demon Army-When you talk about some of the great tag teams anywhere at any time, I automatically think of Toshiaki Kawada and Akira Taue, who tagged together in AJPW during the 90s. This team, after being fierce rivals, had such great chemistry that it astounded me. You just watch some of their matches with The Burning and when they faced any of Johnny Ace's teams or the MVC, and you tell me if some of those matches aren't some of the greatest you've ever seen. Match you need to see with this team: 6/9/95 vs. The Burning or 12/6/96 vs. Misawa/Jun Akiyama 2. The Midnight Express-The epitome, in my opinion, of good old fashioned southern heel tag team wrestling. These guys could do it all with any team you can think of. Both versions of the tag team, Eaton and Lane and Eaton and Condrey were just absolutely awesome, although I prefer the Lane/Eaton combination. They're matches with the likes of the Rock N' Roll Express, The Fantastics, and many other teams are absolutely outstanding. MYNTSWTT-Any match against the RnR Express, vs. Fantastics at Clash I 3. The Rock N Roll Express-The ULTIMATE face team, preceding the Hardy Boyz in terms of female love by nearly 20 years. Robert Gibson would be kicking ass, and then here comes Ricky Morton, and he makes a mistake, and he just gets his ass WHOOPED. I remember a match with the RnR Express against the Andersons at Starrcade 84, I believe, and dammit if Ricky Morton didn't make me fear for his life after some of those near tags. Their matches with the Midnight Express are some of the greatest in history. MYNTSWTT-Any match against the Midnights, vs. The Andersons at Starrcade 84 4. The Burning-You got the ace of AJPW in Mitsuharu Misawa, and the Orange Crush, Kenta Kobashi. You got one of the greatest wrestlers in history, and then you have probably the most innovative wrestler in AJPW history, the man who hit these great moves. These two, just like The Holy Demon Army, had awesome chemistry, and you watch their match with the Army on 6/9/95 and you TELL me that they aren't an awesome team in that match. Of course, Kenta crying like a little girl as the Army dismantles his leg is a great thing, too, but that's just me... MYNTSWTT-6/9/95 vs. the Army, 10/15/95 vs. the Army 5. The Steiner Brothers-For 10 years, they dominated. Numerous tag titles, awesome athletic ability, and untapped natural charisma. Rick's power and Scott's explosiveness was just absolutely awe-inspiring sometimes. Scotty hit these great moves, and Rick had one of the best lariats in the business. Some of their matches were just great. MYNTSWTT-vs. Sting/Luger at SuperBrawl I. 6. TenKoji-Say what you will, but this team had the longest reign as IWGP Tag Champs in NJPW history. Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Satoshi Kojima had this strange and beautiful chemistry that led to these matches that were just fun and great to watch. If you need to see what made them a great team, watch every title defense they made and you'll see what I'm talking about. MYNTSWTT-vs. Kawada/Mitsuya Nagai in 2001 7. British Bulldogs-Power and speed, this team had it all. Dynamite was exactly what his name implied and Davey Boy was as tough as the bulldog that his nickname proceeds him by. Watch them drag a great match out of Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine, even though Valentine could work. MYNTSWTT-vs. The Dream Team at WrestleMania II 8. The Miracle Violence Connection-Although they were only together for a brief time, these guys could do no wrong in that ring. They were tough as nails, they could wrestle, they could brawl, they could kill you with their power. I loved watching this team wrestle. They were just fun to watch. MYNTSWTT-vs. Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham on WCWSN from 1992 9. The Dudley Boyz-They've won the tag titles SEVENTEEN TIMES. OK, so a few were one nighters and such, but regardless, they are still over, they still bring DA PLUNDAH, and putting somebody through a table is still very fun to watch. They have a great charisma together and they could definitely do some great things in that ring. MYNTSWTT-All the TLC matches, the Triangle Ladder Match, Tables Match vs. The Hardyz at RR 2000 10. Harlem Heat-11-time tag team champions in WCW. These guys had great charisma because they were brothers and they could do great things in that ring. Some of their matches weren't that great, but they had some very good matches with the likes of the Steiners and such. MYNTSWTT-Matches vs. The Steiners

cawthon777 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2003 1. The Hart Foundation Consistantly one of the top teams in the world for 6 years straight. Could put on solid bouts with anyone. Could break into singles runs (88-89), come back as a tag team, and not miss a beat. 2. Rick & Scott Steiner Like the Harts, had a very long run as a successful team (89-98). Great mixture of power wrestling and amateur styles. "Smash mouth" as Jim Ross would say. 3. The Hollywood Blondes I loved to hate these guys. Fantastic chemistray. Seemed like they had been together for years when in actuality, the Blondes were around for only one. Had classic bouts with Steamboat / Douglas, the Horsemen, and Scorpio / Bagwell. 4. Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard No nonsence, technical, tag team greats. One of my favorite matches of all time is their bout with the Harts at Summer Slam 89. 5. Owen Hart & the British Bulldog The cream of the crop in an era dominated by hog farmers, workout enthusiasts, cowboys, and Hall & Nash. What Hall & Nash had in charisma and mic skills, Owen & Bulldog had in wrestling psychology and tag team ability. 6. Edge & Christian Their promos alone are good enough for a high mention. 7. Ted Dibiase & IRS Both men were great on the mic and had the fans hating them before the bell even rang. Their bouts with the LOD, Natural Disasters, Nasty Boys, and Steiners showcase the ability of Money Inc. The cage match with the Steiners was very good and I always liked their Summer Slam match with the LOD in London. 8. Jacques & Raymond Rougeau Like E&C, their promos and theme music alone are good enough to get a high mention. 9. The British Bulldogs Paved the way for a smaller, more agile, more technically sound era of tag team wrestling. 10. The Midnight Express (Eaton & Lane) Great tag team psychology. Could work great as faces or heels.

Guest Anorak Report post Posted March 8, 2003 This is definately a 'favourite' top 10 rather than a 'best' list. No particular order....... Edge and Christian: For their promo's and TLC matches first and foremost, they had a couple of really great years together in the WWF. British Bulldogs: Loved them for being British and having a really hard hitting and exiting style. And Matilda. Small handfull of matches i've seen outside WWF (Japan & Stampede) were also good. Rockers: I've nver seen any of their AWA stuff or even the SNME Brainbusters match but i've seen enough great matches of theirs to say I found them the most entertaining team i've ever seen. Could have hot matches against The Conquisadors! Brilliant break-up angle & feud as well. Midnight Express: The old NWA was before my time but I was a huge Cornette mark from the moment I read a great interview with him in some old wrestling mag. Seen a fair bit of both versions from 86-90 (although there's a shitload more I need to see) and I loved it all. They just had tag team wrestling down to a fine art and knew how to time everything perfectly so their matches had crowd heat and exitement to the finish. Made it look easy. The Heavenly Bodies: Sounds weird and all but I was a completely gutted 12 year old mark at Summerslam 93 when they lost to The Steiners. I wanted them to go over BAD in that match. Cornette was my favourite manager by an mile and the Bodies were a really solid team to boot. The Gangsters: New Jack was a star on the mike and some of his stuff had me in stiches at times. The Gangsters had an attitude and an image that fitted into ECW perfectly and were always in the thick of some kind of crazy hardcore mayhem. The Hart Foundation: Had a really nice contrast in styleswhich worked well in the ring and were good heels and faces in their day. I liked the fact they didn't look similar either because so many tag partners had such similar build, it made them stand out from the crowd a bit. I was abig Bret fan from day one. Rock'n'Roll Express: Over time i've come to love them almost as much as the Midnights because they were equally smart workers and played their roles to perfection. El Dandy put it the best, you know you're the ultimate face team when the fan reaction sounds more suited to a pop concert than a wrestling show. Demolition: When I first started watching wrestling Demolition were the epitome of the larger than life spectacle I was enthralled by. They looked like especially cool baddies from some x-rated film and were always portrayed as being amazingly tough. FBI: Liked the gimmick, the wrestlers themselves and the matches they had in ECW. Mikey and Tajiri were always more favs of mine as singles wrestlers plus JT Smith was a full bloodied Italian too. How good was the Los Gringos Locos team in Mexico? How about Gedo & Jado? I've only seen them wrestle singles matches.

Guest bravesfan Report post Posted March 9, 2003 1. Hart Foundation. Contrasting styles? Superb shit all the way around. 2. Steiner Brothers. Birthed the idea of "the ass-whoopin'". Need a corkscrew piledriver with that powerbomb, to go? Call up Rick and Scott. Scott used a little too much power moves for my liking, as I had grown up with the "contrasting styles team" being my favorites. Their match against Sting & Luger at Superbrawl I = best match in WCW's history. 3.Owen Hart/Davey Boy. Screw the teams with longevity such as the Road Warriors - this was the team that I religously followed in 1996 and 1997. The WWF was a little short on tag-teams with actual credibility going into 1996 - so what do you know - they paired two upper-midcarders and asked them to carry the division on their backs. 4. Blanchard/Anderson. The Brainbusters. Damn, the poster child of technical wrestling in the 1980's for the division. Summerslam 1989 with the Hart Foundation is a prime example of why I love tag-team wrestling. 5. Michaels/Jannetty. The high-flying version of the Brainbusters. Gave the wrestling world the best tag-team break-up EVER, and are being emulated as we speak via the Hardy Brothers - but this time, the blonde one is getting the shaft. 6. British Bulldogs. Not aware of most of their work in the 80's. I respect what they've brought to the United States scene as a result, along with the Steiners and Rockers. Left the door open for tag teams to be taken seriously as they turned the corner to the 1990's. What I wouldn't give for more footage of this team in action. 7.Road Warriors. The definition of the "cool team". They're also representing the Demos in this position, but neither are representing the workrate aspect of tag-team wrestling. 8.The Fabolous Rougeaus. Damn, did the 1989 WWF Tag Title Scene kick major ass or what? Rougeaus, Hart Foundation, Rockers and Brainbusters all in one division? And I still mark for those little American flags that they waved to the ring circa 1989- what a nice touch to their gimmick. 9. Edge & Christian. Probably bumped entertaining teams with short runs out of this spot, such as Bret/Owen, Rock n' Sock, Sting/Luger and Eaton/Anderson. Still, they're representing the 2000 style of tag-team wrestling, with the year of the uber-bump. 10. Hollywood Blondes What two more years would've done to this combination. Sad thing is, they were YEARS ahead of their time, and just a few years past the era of tag-team wrestling in the United States.

EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2003 How good was the Los Gringos Locos team in Mexico? How about Gedo & Jado? I've only seen them wrestle singles matches. Gedo and Jado had a FANTABULOUS run in 2001-2002 as they played these two absolutely dicktastic southern heel bitches, with Gedo doing these great heel tactics that were so basic, yet so great. How good were they? SK had to RECIND HIS HATE FOR GEDO BEATING BENOIT IN THE J CUP. If you get that cynical bastard to recind some hate, well, there you go. Los Gringos Locos, "Love Machine" Art Barr and Eddie Guerrero, were fucking GREAT heels in Mexico, and their match at "When Worlds Collide" against SANTITO~!
