Guest Trivia247 Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Knowing Vince, he will mis-use him and he will be just a waste of space. heh they will just use him to get A Train over....
Guest Brian Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 With Rey picking up the title at WrestleMania, and Ultimo coming in, this will be great. They can still run Matt vs. Shannon and actually have some steam in the division.
Guest nikowwf Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 If I was Ultimo, I would get some sort of decent guaranteed base salary for the first year, fulfill it, and then take the money & run. He really has no place in the WWE, besides along side of Tajiri which means NOTHING, unfortunately. Yes, hes much better off in japan where they will ask him to do the same amount of matches, but longer and with more wear and tear on him for less money! MORE WORK / LESS MONEY! Oh, and don't forget about performing in front of smaller crowds. But, he might get a cruiserweight belt in japan. That big piece of plastic will make everything worthwhile...... niko
Guest Brian Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Their not having to ask him to work more in Japan because it's for his own promotion and basically with his experience, if he was working a full schedule for New Japan or NOAH he'd be working less dates with the breaks between tours and nearly the same amount of money. Of course, like alot of people (TAKA) he probably just likes working in America. Popular misconception.
Guest nikowwf Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I disagree with the money being similar, but its neither here nor there so I wont belabor the point. Its an interesting time for the WWE, as Vince's love of HOSSES is going to be severely tested as HOSSES break down if they sneeze too hard. Ultimo Dragon in the WWE being allowed to have good matches. Wow....i know, it sounds ridiculous but they have let Rey be involved in some great stuff so far, so who knows... niko
Guest TheGame2705 Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Ultimo would work a way more hectic schedule in WWE than in his own promotion so you're wrong there buddy. Ultimo Dragon coming in will further nothing and it'll all be a waste of time.
Guest TheGame2705 Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Knowing Vince, he will mis-use him and he will be just a waste of space. heh they will just use him to get A Train over.... I find this ironic coming from the guy who likes the guy who likes A-Train.
Guest Pigsy Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 The big question is: will they call him Ultimate Dragon? Maybe Vince thinks he's a Japanese hoss with face paint, who likes to shake the ring ropes...
Guest Goodear Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Not to step in the hoss hate, but A-Train and Show are perfectly healthy while Angle and Edge are out for a year apiece. Not to mention that Rey seems to have to take three months off every year to get his knees worked on again. But lets not let facts get in the way of anything... continue on...
Guest saturnmark4life Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I have to say, if he finishes all his matches with La Magistral he has no chance. However, we need video packages, and 10,000 of them NOW, bah gawd so people know who he actually is. Still, they'll get a ppv match at least and that should be all dandy.
Guest El Satanico Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Not to step in the hoss hate, but A-Train and Show are perfectly healthy while Angle and Edge are out for a year apiece. Wow they haven't been hurt doing the "i'm big and i do nothing but power moves with both feet on the ground" routine...do they deserve a fucking cookie.
Guest Brian Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 No, he'll make pretty close to what he'd make under a NOAH or NJ deal. Not that he'd make that much in Toryumon, but with a bigger promotion the numbers would be similar and the dates less. I doubt he's signing for big money, but more as looking at a way to get some more exposure and start getting his kids in the states.

Not to quibble too much, but Show is suffering from a bad back. Granted, it's due more to weight issues than wrestling, but it'd be quite a stretch to call him "perfectly healthy."

Big Show has severe back problems. I wouldn't call that "perfectly healthy".

Hey if you want to say that fine. But then don't say "oh these cruisers are so much more durable than the big guys" because they aren't. Oh and I guess A Train never left his feet taking Germans from Benoit like two weeks ago or when Brock dropped him on his head with the F5.
Guest The Hamburglar Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Seeing as Ultimo is something of a big cheese when it comes to cruisers I really can't see why they'd bring him in if they're going to misuse him. They have plenty of lesser but competent cruisers to pick up from the indies so they obviously recognise Ultimo's talent and worth. And hey, WWE philosophy had to change sometime, so why not now?
Guest nikowwf Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 WWE low money (we're talking 100k plus with ppv's and such) is more than Japan normal to high money. Japanese wrestlers don't make anywhere close what their american counterparts make. nikowwf
Guest Brian Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Dragon as the top cruiserweight in Noah or NJ, would make around 300,000-500,000 base.

Guest Trivia247 Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Ultimo would work a way more hectic schedule in WWE than in his own promotion so you're wrong there buddy. Ultimo Dragon coming in will further nothing and it'll all be a waste of time. Heh the guy I Liked also Liked Rikishi and Mideon... No Accounting for tastes... Anyway If Ultimo Came in I feeel the True DREAM Fantasy what if would be Ultimo come in with his own stable straight out of Toryumon that he directs but doesn't wrestle (not knocking his Phenonial ability but I would rather not have in reinjured because A Train needs to be pushed by Good ol JR the Cruiserweight lovah) But imagine like in the past, When Tenryu came over he brought with him Kitao and Greak Kabuki. When Great Sasuke came over, he came in trade with a cross promotional PPV with WWF at Michinoku Pro. so Imagine if you will a great storyline that Ultimo Dragon proclaims (Rightly) That Juniorweights of Japan are Far Superior to the American Crusierweight. and Ultimo sends out a Horde of Toryumon Greats, Magnum Tokyo (Ex WCW misused Jobber and Phenom of Japan) All of Crazy Maxx, Dragon Kid and Maybe Darkness Dragon. having Rey, or Jamie, Shannon Moore, Nova etc going up with these guys...that would be Stellar. Of course I highly doubt they do anything of the kind. another good role would be more Administrative have Ultimo Dragon, both a seasoned wrestler and Promotional Chairman of Toryumon to run a Tour of WWE in Japan, or be the Middle man between deals of Japanese feds and WWE. Another impossibility. blah... Anyway...HAKUMANIA RUNNING WILD!
EL DANDY~! Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Dragon needs to be treated like the legendary performer that he is, no doubt. But see, I don't think the schedule is that big of a deal to him, because in his few years with WCW, he did just fine. His arm is supposedly fine, and I think, that for him to come in gives them that star power in the division that WCW had in theirs. I think it's a great addition.
Guest Hitman Jebus Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Maybe Ultimo Dragon can teach Chuck Palumbo and Nathan Jones how to do a proper kick. Whoa now, DO NOT diss the Jungle Kick! The most devasting kick to the mush in WWE!
Rob E Dangerously Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Ultimo Dragon has a damned good sort of thing to mention when he is coming to the WWE. Videos can air talking about how his career in America was ended by a botched surgery, but he never gave up until he could come back to America to reclaim his success and eclipse it. Ultimo Dragon can also unleash the Dragon Sleeper (which could be more deadly since the Undertaker stole it and they'd want to keep that finisher deadly)
Guest Crux Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 I saw (not in person) Ultimo Dragon wrestle against Chris Jericho...Ive never seen him otherwise, but what I saw was pretty damn good. If they utilize him right...which they probably wont...he'd be a great asset to the company.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 I remember Dragon in WCW back in 96 or 97..good times. He had a good Starcade match with Malenko.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 I think it would be too costly to bring him in just to stick him in a 3 minute match every now and again. They wouldn't bother spending the money on him just to use him like a current CW.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 WWE has renewed interest in using the Ultimo Dragon for Smackdown. With Edge out of action for a year, there are reports that WWE wants to use the Dragon as Rey Mysterio’s tag team partner on Smackdown. Dragon had what was thought to have been career ending elbow surgery. There are some concerns that at 36, he wouldn’t be able to hold up for a full WWE schedule. credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 Rey Mysterio/Ultimo Dragon = Most kickass tag team ever. Take your time and get healthy Edge, the WWE has got you covered.
Guest Vitamin X Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 I was just about to post that.. anyways a good idea would seem to have Ultimo come in as a heel to replace Kurt Angle in Heyman's stable. Then again, since Ultimo Dragon is like my main star in my EWR fed, I'm kind of biased towards creating huge angles with him.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 I don't really see the point in bringing Ultimo in as a heel, that will do nothing for his heat. They need vid packages to establish who he is, with various superstars talking about why he is a legend etc, then have him come in as a face. Again, I have to stress WWE would not bother spending the money on him just to treat him like a jobber. Surely?
