The WWF Championship (pre-Attitude version)

I hope this isn't considered SPAM, but then again, I guess most of us can't afford this anyway.

I just can't help but wonder how these kinds of items wind up in the hands of miscellaneous collectors. The WCW Hunk O' Gold kinda left me thinking they keep the old belts around just because they can.

If I knew 100% that this was real, and if I was working and had money saved up, I would gladly pay $2,000 to own that piece of history, from the sport that I love so much.

I don't think it's supposed to be the actual one that was on TV. It says it is the same "style" as the one used on TV and held but all those guys.

How often do they make a new copy of the belt (or do they ever)? Something I've always wondered is whether or not the wrestlers got to keep their belts after they lost them on TV.

but it also says

This is Not a replica! This is the real wwf belt as used from 1988-1998.

If you win the title i'm pretty sure you get to keep a replica of it. In all the shows they've done showing wrestlers houses they always seem to have a replica of the belt

I want the various different color leather ones. The black is my favorite, but the blue one was pretty phat.

Remember when Sgt. Slaughter won the fuschia one?

If I had the money, I'd pick up THIS-

A Smackdown Tag Title Belt.

You can pick up a few different belt straps and face plates for each belt, off of eBay. The SD! Tag Title auction gives you one to choose for free (Anyone from the Smackdown Six, Cena, or Mattitude)

The Smackdown Tag Titles have nameplates on them?

Don't know where they go on the belt, but the seller confirmed that there's a space on the belt for them.

At the theatre where I watch the PPVs, they're having a raffle for a replica Undisputed title belt at WrestleMania.

Cross your fingers for me.

The World Tag Belts have nameplates on them- I know that

OK, the nameplate is right below the words "Tag Team Champion". You can tell it's a nameplate, by how "smooth" it looks.

Supposedly wrestlers get to take the belt home? I've seen enough shots of Matt Hardy covering his moneymaker with the tag belt and enough Confidential repeats of Trish showing the Womens belt on her bookshelf to think that they do.

Ric Flair put down a $25,000 deposit for his NWA title run, and when the company was sold to Turner, his deposit got lost in the sale. So Flair just took the belt with him when he left, figuring he bought it since he never got his money back.

Supposedly, this model of the title was reproduced quite a few times, because The Ultimate Warrior would keep checking out of hotel rooms and leaving the belt behind at the hotel. They made so many belts that they actually supposedly had some custom ones designed to coordinate with his different colored outfits? Not sure if all or part of that is rumor or fact.

This could be the real title, at some point in the 90s. Because from about WM6 to WM7, there were about 6 or 7 World titles floating around for the Warrior. This could be one of those, they broke the title in 1991, it was falling apart around WM15, and its one reason new titles were giving out durring the attitude era. They had to replace whay they had.

And besides, isn't the hardcore title just the World title ran over, and over, and over again?

I can't remember exactly, but they ran an angle at one point (sometime in the early 90's if memory serves me) in which the then current WWF Title was broke with a hammer or something, thus having them bring in the new title design.

You're a bit off on that one.

Mr. Perfect stole it from Hogan and, along with the Genius, broke it up with a hammer on Saturday Night's Main Event (I believe). But they didn't bring in a new design. They just brought in a new belt of the exact same design (winged eagle design)... and it was used up until Steve Austin won the title from Shawn Michaels (the next night on RAW, Vince had the "Attitude Era" belt... Austin saw it, dropped the old one and snatched up the new one to kick off his title reign).

"Rumor has it" that the broken belt was the same one used for the Hardcore title.. who knows on that one though...

The belt being auctioned is DEFINITELY NOT the real WWF Title belt.

Why?

Look at where the WWF logos would be on the top of the main plate and sideplates.

That's a modified Weezer logo, which is what beltmakers have to put on the belts unless they have express written permission from the WWE to use their logo on belts.

Reggie Parks has made belts for WWF/WWE superstars before (i.e. Mabel's KOTR Title belt that he still uses at house shows) but he can't use the WWF or WWE logo. Other companies, such as the one featured at Highspots.com, have the official license and can therefore make authentic replicas.

I don't think Vince would let the actual title leave his company and fall into the hands of some punk collector who's just going to off it on Ebay. A guy with a rating of 18 doesn't get my vote of trust when he claims he has the real thing.

It's a replica...people have been known to lie on Ebay before.

You could obviously tell the Hardcore title is the old world title.

I remember Mick Foley saying long after he was champ that he still had his belt in a bag in his closet.

Didn't Waltman put his Lightheavyweight title up for auction?

That's what I looked for in the pictures. Being Weezer World Heavyweight Champion isn't so bad, though. =w=

That belt is a good fake, but it's just that- a fake. Besides the "Weezer Wrestling Federation" logo on it, there's something else to note. When Austin beat Michaels at WM14, they still had the old belt (the new design didn't debut until the night after on Raw). The edge of the front plate on one side had a piece broken off. Very tough to notice on first glance, but I realized that during footage of that press conference after WM with Austin and Tyson.

Also, I think every belt in the company now has a nameplate on it. That includes the women's belt, which was modified to have one.

And yes, Mr. Perfect destroyed a world title belt that belonged to Hulk Hogan with a hammer on SNME. It happened in 1989. The belt was kept around and it became the hardcore belt in 1998. Originally that title was meant to be a gimmick title that had no shelf life, but somehow, it lasted for about 4 years.

Not like they needed that belt anyway.

Alright, well that's definitely not real then.

I guess the weirdest wrestling item I've seen on eBay is STILL Hogan's torn shirt from WMX8. O_o

The WWF used more than one "Winged Eagle" belt during its 10 year lifespan.

Ultimate warrior used to lose the belts, leave them behind in hotel rooms, at gyms and even give them away to fans.

I had the opportunity to purchase a real WWF Ring Used belt from between 1988-1998 from the official belt maker of all the belts for the WWF/WWE but i just didnt have a spare 10,000 laying around.

Groups.yahoo.com/groups/championship_belt_collectors is his group.

The dude that bought the WWF Light Heavyweight belt is also a member there.

guys.....thats not the real WWF belt. If you look on the top on top of the eagle it deosnt say WWF. You can go to different sites to have them custom made from the guy who originally made the real wwf belts and created the designs. the site is www.midwestwrestling.com

The designer says on his website that he has to replace the "WWF" plate with that symbol to avoid lawsuits.

Belt = real
