Tommy Dreamer off writing team

Recommended Posts

Guest oldschoolwrestling

Tommy Dreamer's stint as a member of the writing team is over. Dreamer was given a "tryout" spot in the creative end last month, while he continued to wrestle. He was given the slot with the plan being that it would reevaluated down the road. WWE decided to move forward without Dreamer on the team, though I am not exactly sure why. He was taken off off the writing team two weeks ago.

Then why bother even giving him a trial run? Jeez...WWE wonders why it continues to produce shit.

Are there any other wrestlers on the writing team besides HHH?

Anyone have a pool on how many replies this thread gets before HHH is blamed?

Dames

I give it until Anglesault steps in.

Trips and Regal sit in on the meetings but aren't *officially* part of the writing or booking teams. That doesn't mean they don't have significant influence, though.

That sucks a big one. It's a shame that he's been removed.

Maybe Dreamer didn't live up to the strict standards of the WWE Creative team.

Yeah, he is not only a wrestling fan but actually knows how the business works. That immediately DQs him from a spot as a writer there.

Dreamer: How about HHH puts ov-

HHH: NO.

Steph: NO.

Vince: OUT.

(Blame Dames - he's the one who suggested the HHH/Dreamer connection)

It's kinda sad that the real life conflicts backstage are more entertaining than the ACTUAL product they put out.

welp I won't join the HHH Bashing.........till the next post I make on this thread.

But I wonder if they put him on the writing team for such a short time, what did he contribute? What storyline had his fingerprints on in the past month.

He wasn't ALLOWED to do anything... he was on "apprenticeship", apparently.

Tommy Dreamer has been dropped off the WWE writing committee already. The word is because he asked too many logical questions in meetings and thus it was determined he didn't understand the wrestling business. In other words, he was saying things the writing committee didn't want to hear about gaps in logic in their storytelling...

In order not to upset the more easily irritated board members, I will now add my own opinion.

If the writing committee get this offended when someone points out their flaws, then they'll never get anywhere. Vince needs new writers.

Now is the HHH bashing portion of my contribution.

If HHH was involved in this then screw him heh...

Intelligent ain't it???

Actually HHH could have felt threatened of his spot, even though he is banging his future mcmahon bride to keep his spot. But if another Active wrestler got a spot on the writing team??? He might do something like write a storyline to benefit himself...Parrish the thought HHH would Nevah Do that. NNeevvahhh.

I almost love hearing about this type of stuff. I find it very entertaining, seriously. I don't like it, but this is funny as hell.

I don't even question WWE anymore, it's already obvious that basicly EVERYONE in power is totally fucking lost. It used to fun to ask yourself "why in the hell" about stuff like this, but now, we're beyond ever understanding.

All I can say now, is that it's apparent WWE standard of business.

At least they are constant in fuckups.

Dreamer being kicked off after a few weeks couldn't have anything to do with Heyman having a problem with HHH and Stephanie...

nooo of course not...Vince would never do such things.

Sounds reminiscent of WCW during its dying days...

I was going to post something witty about Dreamer having too many good ideas then I read this:

And then I decide that sadly he made too much sense so they fired him. I would like to extend a "merci beaucoup" to the WWE for yet again entertaining me with their backstage idiocy. Too bad they can't do that on the tv shows.

... They fired him because he pointed out the mistakes they made? Tommy, please go find that 'continuity editor' guy and Dusty the Fat Bitter Cat, and form a club so future writing team rejects who were fired for making sense or criticising can join it.

Yeah, Tommy Dreamer a man who has been a WRESTLER all his life doesn't know the business, but a bunch a failed soap writers do. They truly have become WCW. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

If only the stories Heyman wrote were as good as the ones he leaked to save face.

The Test/Stacy/Jericho/Christian hand-cuff-to-the-ropes thing smelled a lil like Dreamer as it was very similar to the Dreamer/Beulah/Dudleys fiasco.

Gee, I guess the idea of someone who could bring SOMETHING NEW to the show was just more then they could handle.

I am not saying what happened is right but these are the two periods when Dreamer had the most influence and wrote shows for ECW:

Post wrestlepalooza 1997 when raven left he gained some of the booking power raven had. Despite popular belief it was Raven who created his storyline with Dreamer and was given the role of assistant booker by Heyman in mid-1995. Once Raven was gone Dreamer picked up some of his duties, such as producing backstage videos and working on lower card storylines. He held this job until Raven came back and Raven was once again put in charge of backstage videos and some storylines. Mid January Raven and Tommy, who were co-producing at the time got into arguments over things involving match importance. Raven said there only needed to be one person to help Paul produce the storylines and backstage stuff so he left and Dreamer was once again the assistant booker. Dreamer became Paul's road agent of sorts, basically running the shows when Paul didn't make the trips because they were now running in markets that Paul couldn't make the trip to, because of the hassles with keeping the company afloat and the fact that the markets were costing more time and travel.

In my opinion mid 1998 until mid-1999 and April of 2000 until its death were the worst periods in ECW history, both times when Dreamer had a lot of power.

Do y'all think that if they used all this backstage stuff on TV it would help the ratings ?
