Guest swan Report post Posted March 21, 2003 , they manage to follow up 2001's HIGHEST SELLING CD (Cry Linkin Park haters, CRY...) with another belter. Umm, record sales don't equal good music. See N'Synch, backdoor Boys, Brittney, etc etc etc.
Guest Bloodice Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Can't wait to see them on April 23rd in Spokane, Washington. They'll be here with Xzibit, blindside and mudvayne on the project evolution tour!
Guest Nanks Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Did any of them have the highest sales in 2001?? If you think that shit music sells the most of anyone in a whole year, then you're the minority. Music taste is obviously just that, an opinion, but Linkin Park makes good stuff that appeals to a huge cross section. I told Linkin Park haters to stay away. This CD is good stuff. Good stuff from Mr. Hahn, good work from Mike, and Chester at his usual high level.

You might think they are a good group, and based on cd sales, millions of other kids might think so too... but when you get down to the facts... they're your typical three chord (its all been done before) fly-by-night group. now Jazz, that is where it's at. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted March 21, 2003 one thing is being a Linkin Park hater, and another is being an unbiased opinion who just doesn't see the appeal behind nu-metal...
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Nu Metal takes some good genres, and takes the worst out of them. Nu Metal consist of: Alt Rock (85%-99%) and an X Factor (Any Genre, whatever's left, always takes from the poor end of the genre) It takes the low end bits, because they are simple, and their members have little talent. They writting, plain, repeative, angst filled music to get money from stupid people that think the band has music that connects with them. It's for the people to lazy or stupid to find something deep, that has beening, and that is good. Good Music: Something with complex lyricc. Different forms and structers, high end languge usage. Music that contains different parts, complexly written, that create a sound that isn't totally commom. Requires talent. it's a shame that actual talent and musicianship are not opinion though. That's very true.
Guest EricMM Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Linkim Park along with Nelly and Shakira, and alllll of pop, is PARTY music. It's music anyone can listen to and enjoy and have a good time to. It's not the kind of music I'd listen to in my spare time, but it has it's place. That place is downloaded onto my harddrive
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted March 21, 2003 I wouldn't be happy listening to party music in any form. It can kill atmospheres, mainly if you're used to a higher standerd of music. Why download it? And if you wouldnt listen to it in your spare time too?
Guest EricMM Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Party music is for parties, in which people don't really want to listen to music, they just want to have something to yell over. Kinda. It's just background noise not something to be appreciated you know? And it can be something to dance to, that's why songs like Tweek's song was popular. It goes on my hard drive because it can be used at parties. I meant that I wouldn't invest in the CD's, because that's what I do for bands that I listen to (TOOL, Radiohead, Goldfinger, Rancid, Jewel...)
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Ahh, that makes sense with the explaintions. Personally, I dont want to have something to shout over. It just sucks. Dancing sucks too. The good form is slow dancing, and melodic songs in metal have that down far better than most slow dance songs. That was personally for those that jump in. I see the point about the music too. (Goldfinger .. 0_o, meh, Tool and Radiohead make it all good) I guess I'm just not a party person. I think it goes hand in hand with being ugly.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted March 21, 2003 The thing is, it's just a way of making more money out of 'party music' by injecting the worst bits of metal as has been said, and I'm sure if you asked some moron from a band like Linkin Park he'd spit out a load of drivel about how his music wasn't just background noise and that some of his 'innermost feelings' were expressed through the music and how it was all 'so fuckin' deep, maaaaan'. I have nothing against background noise or party music when it's intended for those purposes and doesn't try to pass itself off as something more. And people who put that stuff on at parties and start shouting 'fuck' and waving their hands in the air can expect a roofing slate through the middle of their faces from me. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Go away Linkin Park haters You do understand that a title like that only invites them in really. Linkin Park doesn't do anything for me...little too much rap in their stuff for my taste.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 21, 2003 And from everything I've seen about "LinKin Park"...they do take their music serious. That would be like Andrew WK taking himself serious.

Guest Incandenza Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Did any of them have the highest sales in 2001?? If you think that shit music sells the most of anyone in a whole year, then you're the minority. More people bought that album than didn't. Also, Linkin Park is no better than Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, et al; the only differences are loud, dully tuned guitars and some profanity. It's all pop music, and it's all crap. Come to think of it, I'd rather listen to any boy band than this shit; Justin Timberlake lacks the delusion of edginess that so many nü metal bands have in spades. Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Justin Timberlake fucking rules. I'll take him over almost any contemporary rock band of the last couple of years.

Guest converge241 Report post Posted March 21, 2003 i am one of the few who like them (and one of the oldest usualy) i saw and did a review of the first night of the us tour for meteora i didnt like the new tracks compared to Hybrid's just seem like they pale in comparison BTW even as afan , i totally defend the idea that commercial success does not equal quality of the artist sure sometines the two coincide but its up to everyones tastes the album is around 11 million sold as far as official sales figures go

Guest swan Report post Posted March 21, 2003 the album is around 11 million sold as far as official sales figures go Where did you get that figure? here is a quote: "Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory sold another 91,000 copies to top 6 million sold. " from an article in Rolling Stone dated Feb 6, 2002. I don't believe they almost doubled that number in the past year.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted March 21, 2003 I hate it when people down a band because they don't like a genre or it's not fucking artsy enough. Seriously. It's almost as bad as HHHate. That said, I'm a big fan of Linkin Park, and the more recent Evanescence. It is music charged with various emotions, and infused with technically sound music and timing. If you don't like it, that's fine, but trying to rob it of any artistic merit is just fucking stupid and, i daresay, a little arrogant. If this is what manages to touch someone, let it touch them. Go and listen to whatever kewl Indy band is "not" all the rage right now and let people enjoy whatever they enjoy. I'm going to pick up Meteroa as soon as I have the cash to. I had a chance to listen to the new single and I really liked it. LP, much like Evanescence's recent effort, have demonstrated the ability to produce CD's that I can listen to all the way through and love every song, pretty much. To me, that's not a one hit wonder of fly by night kind of band at all.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2003 I want to pick it up....well, I don't really buy CD's, but I'll listen to it somehow. The only gripe I have with it right now is that its only about a half hour long....WTF? Dames
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted March 21, 2003 but a band like Linkin Park has no musical merit at all.
