Linkin Park: Meteora

Recommended Posts

In the Forest?

If so, that made it cooler. I had no clue that was tied into the LOTR type stuff.

And The Martyr comes out of my speakers and kicks my arse. I saw a Blind Guardian CD in Best Buy but was in a hurry and trying to watch my money, but once I have the dough I'm going back. They're not the easiest to find to download.

And I'm starting to get into a mindset of wanting to really monetarily support the bands I like. Not that they're poor or anything but still. I guess me wanting to start a comic publishing/entertainment company has given me a new appreciation for that kind of thing.

No, I meant their Nightfall In Middle-Earth album.

I generally don't have too much trouble finding their stuff on Kazaa.

Some bands support dling of stuff, or reasons and such and such. And because with Metal, you still need to buy the album, for that feel I guess.

Read up on artist first, some should NOT have any support in any way, due to their views.

Indeed.

Music is starting to overtake other forms of entertainment for me. I guess sooner or later I'll have to get into the literature with it, too.

The one complaint I have with Meteora is that it's way too short. 36 minutes!!

heh, I think I saw one DT song that was over a half hour. I believe it was the last disc of the recent live album they made.

I'm glad i didn't buy this cd. While the first half of it is fairly solid, it treads water after "Easier to run" which is just god awful.

Maybe the remix cd will be better.

(That wasn't a joke, I loved Reanimation)

I could say something about quality over quantity, but the joke's too obvious.

Heh, 36 minutes. That just tells me they went in there, put every bit of effort into...hm...3 songs (the singles) and then just said to hell with the rest of the album. As stated, Dream Theatre has songs that long.I'm not saying you have to record a 60 minute epic every time you go into the studio, but Christ, give me at least 40 minutes. And I bet at least 3 minutes of that CD is a DJ breakdown thing with nothing else except that.

You know, Revolver isn't 36 minutes long, and it's one of the best albums ever made.

Certainly not to compare the Beatles to Linkin Park, but length doesn't determine an album's merit. If an album's 30 minutes long but absolutely amazing, I won't hesitate to listen to it three times in one day and have myself one great hour-and-a-half.

Though I suppose the argument these days would be "30 minutes long? I may as well just download it."

You're making the point that a album being short doesn't mean it's a bad album by pointing out a great long album?

...does...not...compute...

Iced Earth is awesome man, how can you say such a thing, when they can actually play live well, unlike others *cough*Slayer*cough*

You must've been drunk, or beat up in the pit, or seeing a canadian punk band sarcastically calling themselves "Slayer." I saw them in 99, and everything was dead-on perfect. Incredibly great performance. Granted, I haven't seen them recently, but I can't imagine them going downhill by much. Hell, that perfomance got me into them more than I was before.

I should have said "not even" 36 minutes long so you wouldn't get confused. The album I mentioned isn't even 36 minutes long. Short length = bad with length as the sole variable is a generally invalid argument, short of "I want to feel like I'm getting more for my money."

I always found them to be hit or miss live. I have seen them 3 or 4 times in the last 12 years. They have a rep for going on stage stoned and/or drunk at times and playing shitty. When they are on though, watch the fuck out, few are better.

Isn't that what most new bands do? Put all their effort into a few radio friendly singles and then just throw the rest together?

My problem with Linkin Park is the get really old really quick. Their songs don't have much replay value. Once I've heard one of their songs twice I don't really want to hear them again, atleast not for awhile.

I'm already sick and tired of the song they play on the radio off the new album.

Not that this is really relevant, but Rocket From The motherfucking Crypt's new album is 26 minutes and still fucking brilliant. Of course, such a short length means no room for filler.
