Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 On Byte This today, Dr. Tom Prichard and Howard Finkel said that Kevin Kelly, who usually hosts the show with Prichard, has left the company to "pursue other opportunities". Kelly had worked in many capacities for the company over his career, including as an announcer, in talent relations, on the WWE website, as well as in the production end of Confidential. 1wrestling.com
Guest Downhome Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 God, first we loose Raven, then D'Lo, then Edge, then ANGLE, and now... ...and NOW... ...KEVIN KELLY!? I can't take much more.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I never cared much for Kelly, but I used to love when the Rock would talk crap to him and make him pick his nose or do something stupid.
Guest Will Scarlet Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Darn. That sucks. I always liked Kevin Kelly.
The Dames Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I never cared for him as an announcer or as an interviewer. I heard he did amazing things in ECWA, but I just can't picture it. Dames
Guest The Superstar Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 And the former ECWA Champion (!!!!!) bites the dust. Oh well.
Guest Miss Indy Queen Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Wow I'm surprised by this. I wonder why he left. I know he'll be at the Super 8 again this year.
The Dames Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Maybe they really need guys in the Super 8 this year. Dames
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 He and Foley did probably one of the funniest commentaries of a match I've ever heard (Kennel from Hell match on Foley's DVD). That and his stuff with the Rock is all I really remember..
Guest Miss Indy Queen Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Well he's not going to be in the Super 8, he's just going to be at the show. Usually he helps out with the booking of the Super 8 and some of their shows.
DrVenkman PhD Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I couldn't even listen to Byte This to hear this big announcement. I was listening to theme music being played before 4pm est with a green screen, then a Rock/Hurricane promo was playing. I figured if I downloaded WMP 9 like the website says I'm supposed to, the green screen would be replaced by video. Well, I do that, install, get the codecs, install, click on Byte This... NOTHING. Now nothing plays. Stupid WMP and stupid WWE.com (none of the videos on the site will work for me... though the rarely did in the past)
Guest Phoenix Fury Legdrop Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Good riddance...I heard the guy was a prick to indy guys who didn't work for Jim Kettner (he organized tryout matches).
Guest bob_barron Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Looks like we know what NWATNA's suprise is next week!
Guest HartFan86 Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I never really had a problem with Kelly...ah well. They come, they go.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I always liked his bickering with Dr. Tom on Byte This. I wonder if he was fired or if he really quit. I can't see him quitting because he has been there for so long in so many different capacities. Byte This was unusually short today. I wonder if it had anything to do with KK's exit.
Guest Rob Edwards Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I've not really got anything good or bad to say about the guy umm I quite enjoyed it when Austin beat him up at Unforgiven in 2000 I guess.
Rob E Dangerously Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 I blame (insert bad guy here) Kevin Kelly was held down by Michael Cole
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 I just hope this doesn't ruin their relationship with the ECWA, cause I know they did most of their dealing through Kelly.
Guest wwF1587 Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 his stuff with the rock was classic... i will always remember when he had kelly put his finger in his nose while the rock talked... hilarious stuff
Guest tank_abbott Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 On a serious note... Kelly has been a valued employee of the WWF for 6+ years... I bet this loss hurts them on the same level as losing Craig DeGeogre and dare I say Sean Mooney?
Guest papacita Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Dang...I still owe him a slap in the face from 98. Oh well.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Maybe Vince found out who was hiding in the closets and under the tables calling Dave and 1Bob for every little thing? Kevin Kelly = Big Ol' Snitch!
Guest Repo Man jr Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Craig DeGeogre Who? I used to think he was called "Greg The George", but that makes more sense! He was Sean Mooney version 1.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Maybe Vince found out who was hiding in the closets and under the tables calling Dave and 1Bob for every little thing? Kevin Kelly = Big Ol' Snitch! Nobody likes a rat. That'd be great if he was the one who leaked out all of the backstage altercations.
Guest Brian Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 You guys don't give Tazz, Heyman, and Ross enough credit.
