DrVenkman PhD Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I was supposed to go with some people to a WM party in Michigan, but in my circle of friends, only two of us are actually wrestling fans and only one of us knows the guy in Michigan. Well now Drew_K has decided he no longer wants to live in this city, thus severing the link between me and the casual fans he drags with him to the bar, so the party in Michigan is off and I will most likely have to sit alone at the local bar.
The Dames Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I've been to O'Grady's...cool place to watch wrestling. Hey Bob or anyone else currently in Canada...how is Famous Players? I just think the concept of watching Mania in a theater is cool... Dames
Guest bob_barron Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I've been to O'Grady's...cool place to watch wrestling. Hey Bob or anyone else currently in Canada...how is Famous Players? I just think the concept of watching Mania in a theater is cool... Dames It's pretty awesome. It's like going to a live event as usually everyone is making noise. The crowd is usually VERY pro-Benoit so all of his matches get insane heat. It isn't that expensive either and it's a very fun way to spend a Sunday night
DrVenkman PhD Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I haven't been to Silver City (Famous Players) in almost 3 years, but it was pretty great in 2000. I won a WWF Attitude t-shirt and during Heat employees were running up and down the aisle taking concession orders for you. While Bob classifies it as "not expensive", the main reason I stopped going was the ticket price jumped from $15 to $20, and now it's even more. If you're going on your own, it's less than watching from home, but the second you go with a friend it's getting pricey. Consider this: It costs $150 for a group of 5 to go to see WrestleMania at the movie theatre, $115 more than it is at home. HOWEVER, if you look at it as an arena experience, it's much much less.
Guest bob_barron Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Damn- I wish they did that for us. I got an Unforgiven t-shirt last September but at the last two PPVs I haven't won anything
The Dames Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 That sounds fuckin' awesome. When i was in TO last year for Mania, I went to O'Grady's to watch Raw. Got a shit load of T-shirts and stuff you can't get anywhere. I was also exposed to the enchanting elixur of Molson EX. Dames
Guest MARTYEWR Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I've been to O'Grady's...cool place to watch wrestling. Hey Bob or anyone else currently in Canada...how is Famous Players? I just think the concept of watching Mania in a theater is cool... Dames O'Grady's is a cool place in general. I've only been to Silvercity for one show: Summerslam 2002. The crowd in the theatre was EXTREMELY hot for the whole show. Wouldn't go there all the time due to the cost, but it was fun. Everyone marked out for Shawn Michaels' kip-up spot against HHH, and EVERYONE booed the Rock out of the theatre. If he was ever there, of course. Very enjoyable, if you can afford it.
The Dames Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Well, considering I don't pay for PPV's, even going to a bar is more expensive. But, if I were to ever go anywhere, I'd like to go to some theater like Famous Players. O'Gradys was cool and so was chillin with Dan Lovranski...although the guy is NOT someone you want to look at all the time. Dames
Guest bob_barron Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I like that they dont mind you cursing your head off. When HBK came back and got Jericho eliminated I let the profanity fly. I've always wanted to go to O'Gradys but I don't think I'm allowed enough. The guys on the LAW are pretty cool- I got to call in last night!
The Dames Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Lovranski kept insisting that I looked like Tazz. Bugged the hell out of me. We exchanged emails after that, but lost contact after a few months. The food is pretty good there too. Dames
Guest bob_barron Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I don't see it Dames- you don't look like Tazz to me
The Dames Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 You know, I was actually going to say something like "how would you know" for a sec...wow. You and Areacode are the only 2 people I've met from the board. Who would you say I look like? Dames
Guest evilhomer Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 You remind me of that world renowned internet columnist - The Dames I've been to famous players once for an event and it was pretty cool to have that many people around, but last time I checked it was $35 for a ticket, too rich for my blood. O'Grady's gets a pretty good wrestling crowd, which is a nice switch from my usual bar which is filled with hoss marks. So do I go to O'grady's where I'd have better atmosphere but won't be able to drink, or go to my usual bar where I can get sloshed and walk home. Based on the lineup, I'd say the latter is the best choice.
Guest converge241 Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 my house a few people will come over and chip in
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 When the hell is Wrestlemania?
Guest Choken One Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I'll just go to a Bar as usual....Maybe I might even stay home and just have some of my friends come over but then I'll wind up spending not only 40 for Mania.....Then I'll pay 25 to feed their asses... So I will just go to the bar and spend 15 bucks max on Wings and Beer...
Guest candie45 Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Probably the sports bar as usual, but part of me wants to make my dad buy it from home. We'll see. At least at the bar I get food, and who knows, maybe Matt will be there again.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 My house...alone...in FRANKLIN, MASSACHUSETTS! **dead silence** ...hey, it worked for Foley... **gets hit in the head by a thrown shoe** ...wankers... Any Massholes/Rhode Islanders are welcome to partake in the festivities as long as they chip in for pizza.
Guest Coolclint Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Hopefully from this sports bar near the local mall...I haven't been there before, but friends who have say it's better than the Hooters in town that shows them.
HurriShane Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 I'll be enjoying the action at Safeco Field live and in person.
Guest Imarkout4chrisdaniels Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Yeah, I'll be there live, as well. I have always wanted to go to Wrestlemania, and I went through hell to get there this year. Ticketmaster cancelled my floor seat tickets due to a misunderstanding, and I had to buy them for a LOT more off e-Bay. That, and flying across the country put a dent in the ol' wallet.
Guest Slapnuts00 Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 I'll be ordering it at home. I usually buy the weekly NWA PPVs, but I haven't ordered it the last couple weeks to save for Mania so the 40 bucks isn't a big deal. I don't care what anyone says, Wrestlemania still has that "big-must see" feeling, and the card itself sounds better than last year's.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Fifth row behind the announcer's table. I wish/hope you have a very nice digital camera and will be taking pics. If not, I will, but just way way back there.
Guest HartFan86 Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 At my Dad's, as usual for the past 3 out of 4 Manias (Didn't get 17)
Guest Brian Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 I've got to make room on my camera. I have't decided whether I'm going to bring it to Axxess too. And I've got RAW the next night in the same area, only eighth row.
