Guest mace Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Hi all - long time lurker, first time poster. I've been hanging around TSM for a while now and it's about time I got this off my chest. I'm Australian. Not American, not Canadian, but Australian. Yes, we do exist (and you know what? We're out in Iraq too but who knows it? Anyway...) We get relatively little wrestling down under. We get the latest DVDs, sure - but at the moment we get one WWE program - WWE Raw. Yes, one show a week. YES, it's Raw at that. Vince's love for the almighty dollar resulted in us losing Smackdown, which really is kind of unfair considering we managed to have one of teh biggest crowds for the WWE/WWF/WWWF ever. (56,000-odd. Nothing to sneeze at!) Hogan refused to come to that show. There were hundreds of kids in boas waiting for the Hulk, and he didn't show. Then, they left three matches off the DVD, making it a rather lacklustre affair. Can you see where I'm going here? Late last year our PPV provider couldn't come to terms with the WWE so now not only do we get no Smackdown, but we get no PPV's on Tv either. We actually DO get PPVs now - they're screened in limited sessions at cinemas (maybe 20 around the country) and it costs $25 for us to get in, per person!! Just six months ago you could order the show, watch it with mates, and tape it to watch later for a mere $30. So next time you have a whinge about wrestling please remember - there's folks out there worse off than you. Namely, me. Looking forward to contributing to thse excellent boards in the future. We never got anything more than NBC/ABC/CBS in the way of local channels until January 1st, 2002, so we never had SmackDown. At the same time, WWF and DTV had a fallout over PPV money, so Vince took the PPVs away starting with No Mercy 2001 (which is, ironically, right about where buyrates dropped HARD) and never gave them back until No Way Out. So, from October to Feburary, all we got was Raw. I can't even fucking REMEMBER what the goddamn buildup for Vengeance looked like, since I honestly didn't give a rat's ass. I started paying attention when Flair came back, and then we got PPVs back. Sadly, right around that time, the world started spinning backwards and the shows began falling.

Don't quote me numbers - instead tell me who our PM is. Tell me what "Bali" means. We're in there, and you guys don't even care - or want to care. Don't try to tell me an Aussie KIA is less important than a US soldier. Or a Brit - a chopper goes down and CNN sympathises with the "families of the four who lost their lives." Excuse me - there were 8 from the UK who died too! You can fight your own fucking war next time - there won't be any allies "willing" to help because you keep kicking them in the teeth. </rant>

I found out later that most of it is made in Canada. You've been fooled by advertising. If you want Australian beer you're probably drinking Victoria Bitter or depending on where you are...XXX, Cascade, etc... And mace? John Howard.
