Nightmare on Elm Street Series..

Best to worst.......

NOES 1: Simply the best.

NOES 3: Dream Warriors, Nancy(Heather Langenkamp) makes her return and unfortunately gets killed in the final battle.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare: Nice twist to the series, fortunately made by the creator of the series so it wouldn't be all for not.

NOES 4:Dreammasters: A solid follow-up to part 3, in which the powers that Kristin possesed in 3 are given to Alice, Freddy's new #1 enemy.

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare: A lot of people hate this one, but comparing it too "Jason Goes To Hell" I'd say they handled the "final death" of Freddy a lot better, and kept more continuity. I thought it was solid, and the peek into Freddy's past was nice.

NOES 5: Dreamchild: Not all bad, but this is definately when an overexposed Freddy took away from the movie. He was already being overexposed by part 3, but in this movie it was just Waaaaay too much. He wasn't a scary monster anymore, he was a standup comedian.

NOES 2: Freddy's Revenge: The highlight of this stinker was the bus sequence in the beginning. Freddy jumping out of the pool was pretty tight, and you had to laugh at the dance number the lead actor did while unpacking his clothes. Who can forget this travesty. This installment could have easily NEVER happened, because it didn't really add anything at all to the series and there was nothing really memorable besides what I just mentioned. The concept itself was not bad, but the execution and end result sucked in my opinion.

So there you have it, my NOES rankings. I was thinking of doing more detailed reviews of each movie, and maybe I will later today or sometime in the next few days, that is, if no one else does first.

I would have to go with:

Nightmare 1

Nightmare 3

Nightmare 4

New Nightmare

Nightmare 5

Nightmare 6

Nightmare 2

If you watch Nightmare 2: Freddy's Revenge and just think about how much Jessie is a closet homosexual, you'll have a hell of a time.

3: Dream Warriors-Nice, stupid, fun that never once takes it self seriously. Dungen and Dragon references, Dokken on the soundtrack, Superpowers, Disembodied tounges, it really doesn't get much better than this.

1: A Nightmare on Elm Street-A pretty innovative concept as far as I know. Probably the creepiest of the series, in fact it's really the only creepy one. Though I always thought the move kind of suffered from the fact that it was torn between camp and more serious horror, but that's just my IMO. It works in some movies, but I think it hurt this one.

New Nightmare-Not too bad. A good way to freshen up the series, and somewhat return the creepy atmoshpere of the original.

4: Dreammasters-I haven't seen this since it first came out, but I remember it being pretty decent. Isn't this the one where the dude goes to sleep on the toliet, and has a Karate fight with an invisible Freddy. Now that's entertainment. Maybe it's just because I was younger and dumber, but I don't understand the mirror thing at all at the ending.

Freddy's Dead-The POWER GLOVE! Stupid but less fun than 3 and 4.

5: Dreamchild-It's watchable, but rather forgetable. Just generic Freddy too me.

2: Freddy's Revenage-Sure it's a piece of shit, but just watch the bus scene, fast forward to the exploding bird, and than fast forward to the Pool Party. Not that bad if you watch it like that, watch it as a whole, and it's easly the worse of the series. And that's how I'm ranking it.

Wow, I don't get the hate for part 2. What's so wrong with part 2? At least it was still a horror movie and not slapstick comedy. There's no way in hell I'd put part 2 at the bottom as long as Freddy's Dead and New Nightmare exist.

NOES 1: Highly original. One of the better horror movies to come out in the 80's. It has Johnny Depp getting killed in one of the goriest movie deaths. I like horror movies when you don't know what the killer looks like right away. Freddie creeped me out when I was younger.

NOES New Nightmare: I thought this was a very interesting concept. A sort of what if your horror creation actually enter reality. A very under rated horror movie, IMO.

NOES 3: This should have been the last movie. Great action and a cool ending and a twist to it (Heather gets killed)

NOES 4: If you are going to restart a series, I guess this is how you do it. A solid, but unspectacular movie.

NOES Freddies Dead: I liked Freddie's history in it, but this was a sloppy movie, plain and simple.

NOES 2: Why did they make this movie again?

I didn't see NOES 5, so I can't comment on it.

The hate for Part 2 surprises me. Sure it didn't have as many highlights as the others, but it had a great, pervasive feeling of doom and terror throughout the whole movie. In other words, it was actually scary.

Anywho:

Part 1

Part 2

New Nightmare

Freddy's Dead

Part 4

Part 3

Part 5

Part 1: didn't like the cop out ending

Part 3: Why don't this one get TV time?

New Nightmare: went back to the Part 1 concept, Scream 3 bite this concept.

Part 4: I liked when continued where part 3 left off, Was classic when Kristen gave Alice her powers.

Part 2: Kinda lame, Jessie, I think was a Closet Homo, That Shower scene made that suspect, that and Freddy always was coming out "inside him."

Part 5: I liked it but it wasn't scary just silly.

Part 6: Damn you would think that somebody would figured out a way to kill Freddy by now, so this movie wouldn't have to been made.

ANOES - the original and the best

ANOES 3 - pretty cool movie that was the transition of Freddy from scary psycho to pop icon, but he wasn't too over the top here. Cool effects and story with the Dream Warrios

New Nightmare - Good, i loved the intro scene and the scenes that emulated the first movie with Nancy and Freddy, altough something about this one makes it feel completely different than the other movies, not sure if it's bad or good.

ANOES 4 - pretty good pop corn movie, i watch this on DVD from time to time just to be entertained without having to think too much. cool lighting and SFX in this one...

ANOES 2 - not the best, but really the only one that tries to be different from the others. Has one of my favorites scenes ever, when Freddy bursts out of Jesse's body. Had a great spooky atmosphere. Also this was the first Freddy movie i ever watched, so it has some sentimental value...

Freddy's Dead - stupid entertainment, but entertaining still. Quality wise, very crappy

ANOES 5 - now this one just sucks, this is the only one of the movies in the DVD boxset that i have watched just once maybe twice. avoid this.

that's it

Part 3 (What else can be said about this? Solid script as far as Elm Street films are concerned, thats for sure. Freddys makeup job is the best in this one, makes him look fucking freaky as hell)

Part 1 (The dark and dirty feeling was throughout this whole movie)

Part 2 (I might get shit on for this, but I thought it was a pretty good sequal, although the continuation wasnt there at all as well as some of the unspoken "rules" of the series. But the general way the movie was filmed gave it a legitimately scary feel to it somehow. Freddy's role in this one made him probably more intimidating to me on screen than ever. I still get a lil freaked out when they show him coming out of the body and also through the fire at that party.

Part 4 (Wish they could have brought everyone back from part 3 like Patricia Arquette though. But it was a cool segway to part 5 with Alice and etc. The majority of the film though seemed like just a filler script to me, done fast to just get another Elm Street out there the next year

New Nightmare (I almost wish they never made this for some reason. Another example of something that just seemed to be done for the fans sakes of wanting to see another Elm Street movie. A few good moments but Freddy didn't come off as a major part of this film at all, which was sad. Never legitimately scared me either.)

Freddys Dead (Horrible way to end the series, not sure what they were thinking here. If anyone has the supplimental DVD disc of the series and here that chick director try to stand up for this film, its pathetic. What got me about this more than anything is it seemed like a comedy more than any other Elm Street of the series, and again, it was far from a scare at all)

Part 5 (Goofy direction from a artistic standpoint with all of the gothic elements and weird feel of the film. Not what i wanted to see out of an Elm Street film AT ALL. Freddys makeup made him look like a cartoon character here.)
