One decade ago, Hulk Hogan defeated Yokozuna in 37 seconds for his 5th WWF Title at what is widely considered to be the worst WM ever.

Any thoughts on this momentous occasion?

(This SHOULD go in Old School, but I figured more people would see it here.)

Don't worry it will be there soon.

And yeah I marked. I was 11 at the time, but hey.

Ohh no! There are two Doinks!

And I still feel robbed my the fact that they cut Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Kamala off the show.

I was only 6 when this happened and was very upset my favorite Bret Hart didn't win. I was also confused when Hogan won too.

It was the first PPV I ever watched (on tape, in June, in my living room, lying on a beach towel), so I marked for Hogan winning the title. Looking back, I love how I marked for stuff like that even though it had happened months ago; just to see it, I guess, made it that much more special. Nowadays, there isn't really anything like that anymore where you HAVE to see this PPV or RAW or whatnot.

Thinking back, I'm amazed at how much I hated Shawn Michaels back then. I was pissed when he robbed Tatanka of the I-C Title, and I wanted to kill him for what he did to Mr. Perfect (my favorite at the time). *sigh* Memories...

I was always a fan of the Steiners / Headshrinkers match on that card. Now, from the perspective I have now, it should have been obvious of the outcome of this match - but the match was a fun rollercoaster ride (and stiff as hell, which I love).

Perfect being pinned with his feet on the ropes to this day is still a horrible horrible call.

Apparently you all blocked out Undertaker vs. Giant Gonzales and the even more boring Mega Maniacs (Hogan and Beefcake) vs. Money, Inc.

Well, we had them blocked out of our mind.

*Runs from both matches, but slips and falls.*

Maybe it's the outdoor atmosphere (which was awesome), maybe it's the fact it was the first Mania I could watch in the comfort of my own home, and maybe it was the fact I had only been watching wrestling for less than 2 years and my cousin and I thought Hogan ruled, but I liked the show.

Match wise, Gonzalez vs Undertaker is god awful, but it's not like I have to watch the match thanks to revolutionary technology such as fast forwarding. I really enjoy Tatanka vs Michaels and Steiners vs Headshrinkers, it's Bobby Hennan's last WrestleMania, and there are TWO DOINKS. Overall, I enjoy WMIX a lot more than WM2, my personal least favourite.

WMIX at least has a personality when WM2 doesn't...

I remember being a mega-mark back then and I still hated the show. Also I think it was the single point where I stopped cheering Hogan anymore, that shit at the end was just foul.

I was still confused...When did Hogan become Bret's Buddy all the sudden...I mean at LEAST show them talking to each other showing SOME type of Relationship...

BTW...Was Yoko undefeated going into Mania?

Everyone talks about Lesnar getting the title too soon but Yoko got it less then 4 months...

They were both babyfaces, and both...North Americans. I guess that was enough to be considered friends.

Although the fans chanting "U.S.A." (I think they did...it's been a while) had me groaning.

I enjoyed it at the time but then I was 11, looking back it was bloody awful though and considering Hogan subsequenty refused to put Bret over I'd suggest Vince regrets it as well

Let's think about this...What If Hogan didn't appear for that Mania and actually, Ya Know retired...Would Yoko still won the match? A Heel had never won the Main event (final match) before to that point...Yokozuna was only 5 months into WWF...Would Vince really given Yoko the title that night?

I would have...Let Yoko win it at Mania... Have Bret still win at Rumble...Let Yoko beat Savage (whom does a Sympathetic Babyface Role)...Do Luger-Yoko for the summer/Fall program...Let Bret worry about Lawler during that Time...

Then Just straight Up have Bret win the Rumble...and then climax it with Him beating Yoko.

Sure, It means No Owen/Bret but we got that anyways that summer in a better match...

Because Yoko losing Mania to Bret because Faces always wins...Would had killed his Aura...Unless they had him go on a Murdurous rampage...Have Bret never back down from Yoko...set it up at Summer Slam...Yoko humilates Bret...Bret gets his back at Mania...

What's this about no atmosphere at WM2? It had atmosphere...but it sucked ass.

Lets not forget The Brain riding in on a camel, and JR wearing a toga.

WM2 was just Three Dark Arenas...WM9 Was outdoors with a Theme...

They ought to go back there if it even exists anymore...I read somewhere they built for WM.

One of my guilty pleasures is this ppv. It isn't too bad.

Shrinkers/Steiners, Tatanka/HBK, 2 doinks, and a decent Bret/Yoko match make the show enjoyable.

Plus the outdoor setting rocks. I wish they (wwf/e) would do another outdoor ppv. Possibly in Southern California since it never rains here.

Actually, it's rained here pretty often recently.

This year had the atmosphere of an outdoor show...it sort of was I guess as it wasn't a full roof and you could still see the sky.

I don't mind it that much, but it sure ain't great. It lacked the inevitable Flair-Perfect that was stopped by Flair moving back to NWA. We get Luger instead...great  Steiners/Shrinkers was good, as was HBK/Tatanka. Other than that is was passable I guess...although for a Mania it was nothing.

During Mania, Mean Gene interviewed Hogan after the tag match and he talked about being in Bret's locker room earlier and wishing him luck...that was about it.

Yoko came in September / October 92. So about 6 months - which still isn't as quick as Brock's 4 month push to the title.

yea, they chanted USA in the main event-ish. I think the Brain called them on it, too

I know but the weather is weird all over the place.

Plus when it rains its like the top story on the news.

Really? I thought Series was his debut...Which would be five months...

If you want to do it outdoors...Vegas rarely Rains (being in desert and all)...You could do it in Florida...during Summer....but you got Hurricane Season and shit...

Fuck...Just go back to London...

This is the ppv that probably turned me into a bitter wrestling fan. Hart did all the work...and Hogan got all the glory. Pissed me off then (as a huge Hogan hater) pisses me off now.

Guest Choken One

Didn't seem like much work...All I recall is a couple dropkicks...Long ass Resthold...Sharpshooter...Salt in eyes. Leg Drop...Finish.

It didn't piss me off...I just saw it as a way to Keep Yoko's heat and send the fans home happy...
