I guess when one runs out of logical points to debate, they need to resort to bullshit.

I am here to talk about the point of this thread, but I'm not going to just sit back and let some moron come here and take pointless shots at me.

What needs to be done is to establish just what exactly is going to happen. Are you going to boycott JUST the May 5th RAW or are you going to boycott WWE all together? Is it one for the entire group, or is it that everyone just decides to do one or the other on their own?

If so, which will you be doing?

We're just boycotting the May 5 show.

Not according to Rudo and Curry.

The point of this thread was to make our voices heard.

May 5th is an important day for the WWE, therefore it is the best time for people who want to make a point to make a point. However, that alone will not do much. It must be surrounded by other efforts and mediums - letters, calls, etc. to different people/organizations. We have a month to make it effective, so the sooner we can stop this circular debate the sooner we can try to get something done.

I still say we drop the whole "boycott" May 5th thing, and concentrate on other efforts (especially letters and e-mail).

The May 5th thing looks really childish, and just won't garner any support. You can already see how anyone that hears about it mocks it, mainly because of the obvious Nielsen box issue, which everyone knows about.

Even if people did accept this, the most we can hope to get is a few hundred people to join in--that's just not enough. If those same people send letters/e-mail howevever, then it can make a difference.

Most importantly, if we do try the boycott Raw thing, people will only laugh when we try to mobilize a REAL effort like letters and e-mail--they'll be like "aren't you the same guys that tried to boycott Raw and failed to make any difference whatsoever?" Maintaining credibility is very important.

I agree Creative - it's just that May 5th is a nice date to focus on.

Well already you'vd f'd up, seeing how almost EVERYONE believes that this entire thing is ONLY about a boycott of that one date...

...now you see my point about having everything out in the open, for EVERYONE to understand before they even join in.

Um no.

You still don't see my point about the growing process and evolution of an idea.

The idea of May 5th is something that everyone agrees with. We want to make our voices heard. We want change and we want to do something for change. The process is by no means "f'd up", no matter how much you want it to be.

Yes it is, everyone thinks this is ONLY about boycotting May 5th, you didn't make yourself clear about the entire purpose about this. This is to be expected however when you just toss out the idea without being specific. We have people asking just what will happen, if it's just about May 5th, if it's a full boycott, and everything else. There is no clear course of action and goals. You need to get everyone on the same page.

If the ratings drop on May 5th from a boycott, the WWE would most likely take the additional letters and such more seriously. It'll make them realize that the internet CAN change things.

*notes that it has been 1 Day and 5 hours since the original post had been made*

Downhome, I find it funny how your expectations for the WWE are so low yet you expect everything to be mapped out and documented in one day for this.

By 'everyone' who exactly do you mean? Anyone who has been following the course of this thread should know the intent of the 'revolution' and know that it goes beyond the May 5th Boycott since that has only been said on nearly EVERY SINGLE PAGE.

Ugh, I thought we were at least ok with one another. I do expect everyone to understand what this is all about when they join in. From the looks of things, that isn't the case.

Ratings won't drop because of a boycott...it's impossible.

The thing that annoys me the most is not the shity product but the way they treat their fans. They way they treated us in Australia was pathetic. They way many WWE superstars have to bash "smarks" just for the sake of doing it. KMA club, Necrophilia, and the gay wedding made me embarrassed to be a wrestling fan, but they were willing to piss of all of there true fans in order to grab mainstream attention.

If the product was shit but they were listening to the fans opinions in order to change things I could accept this, but they are not, they are continuing on with the same old freak show act, and treating the fans that don't buy it with contempt. The way in which I plan to protest the most is by giving my money to NWA/TNA, because the WWE sure as hell doesn't deserve it.

JDM, you hit the nail right on the head.

"From the looks of things" ? from all those who have joined in the past day it seemed to me that they knew what the intent and purpose of this was.

I don't think so. No one knows if this is ONLY a boycott of May 5th, or WWE product as a whole for a long period of time, or what.

I mean the various people in this thread who have thought it was just May 5th, who thought it was a total boycott, etc... It isn't clear enough.

Posted

what i think it is is since may 5th is the start of "sweeps week" that we will decide not to watch to have them lose money from advertisers? or get a low rating when they expected a high one?

If YOU decide not to watch, they don't lose anything. TV ratings are compiled by companies that give a small percentage of families in the U.S. special boxes that send information on when the TV was on and what it was tuned to. Nielson is the most well-known.

If you aren't one of these so-called "Nielson families," your viewership means jack squat in the number we see on Tuesday.

It's not clear at all when you make statements like "Everyone".

I cant wait for like, May 7th when the Ratings come out and they actually went up, despite this little boycott.

That would be hillarious!

Well, you now have less than one month. I seriously don't know what anyone is expecting from this beginning process. With all the talk of ratings and what not.

I think suggesting that everyone should not buy PPVs or any WWE merchandise would be more effective than only boycotting the show on a certain day.

I suggested this a few pages back. It was no-sold.
