Guest Max Danger Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 It premieres April 8th at 10pm EST on FX after the cable premiere of American Pie and will be on every Tuesday at the same time. "Lucky is a comedic romp through gambling and addiction starring "Sex and The City's" John Corbett. Corbett plays a compulsive gambler, Michael "Lucky" Linkletter, who is trying to regain his life after losing a million dollars and his wife." - imdb.com Everyone has seen the promos on FX. Is anyone going to watch it? I think I might give it a try. Might as well. Need something to do after Buffy the Vampire Slayer and 24.
Guest Galactic Gigolo Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 Entertainment Weekly said it sucked. I'll give it a chance, but I doubt it'll be any good.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 I'll give it a chance too. John Corbett is a pretty good actor.
Guest Choken One Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 I thought Shield was gonna suck but I was wrong...So although Lucky looks dumb...I give a trial run...
Guest EQ Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Lucky looks cool to me... Assuming I remember (I wrote a post-it note to myself about it), I'm going to check it out
Guest El Satanico Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 I'm sure I'll check it out...not like there's anything else on at 10 on tuesdays.
Guest MrRant Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 I lived in Las Vegas so I got to see the reality... which was probably more entertaining then this show will be but I will give it a looksie.
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Hey it has Carlton in it.........it can't be all that bad.
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Okay I'm a moron. That wasn't Carlton.....but it looked like him during those quick commercials.
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Is anyone watching this? This is hilarious!!
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 It was only 30 minutes!? I was just getting into it.
Guest El Satanico Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 It was pretty good...It got me to want to come back next week. I "marked" when they played the song Black Betty when he made his entrance
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 His friend throwing himself in front of those cars had me dying laughing.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 I'll take a pass...the guy just comes off too unlikeable and cocky in the previews, I can deal with cocky, but the character seems like a prick also. And I can't deal with both.
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 When you actually watch the show he's a pretty cool guy. His wife died and since he was a compulsive gambler he didn't have the money for her funeral so he had to borrow from his in-laws. He tried to find a non-gambling way to raise the money. That was the plot of tonight's episode and will probably have implications on future episodes. He's your typical man with an addiction. He's easy to relate to since we all have some sort of addictions.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 The character doesn't have to be your role model. People are different.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 The character doesn't have to be your role model. People are different. I know, but based on previews I got the "Man, I really don't want to watch this" vibe
Guest Max Danger Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 I dug it. Watching his friend throwing himself in front of cars was hilarious, I agree with LaParka there. First I thought he was going to rob the store across the street then... WHAM! He's being hit by a woman. Funny stuff. I'll be watching.
Guest EQ Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Yeah... I actually loved this show. It reminded me alot of the movie "Rounders", which if you haven't seen, shame on you. I'm going to be watching this show from now on.
Guest EQ Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 I HATE CABLEVISION. I don't get FX. Dames Want me to save the tape for you, cockmaster flex?
The Dames Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 You never drive down here anyway. Hmm...you just gave me an idea, thanks. Dames
The Dames Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 The same way I got to see Angel and Survivor the week I missed it... Have random strangers send it to me Dames
Guest EQ Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Are you going to be able to get every episode of Lucky like that? You know who would really like this show? Mac.
The Dames Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Depends...if I like the first show, maybe. Yeah, Mac would like it, definitely. Its like Rounders you say? You know I love that. Damn, I have to get that on DVD. Dames
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 Only thing I didn't like about the show was that it was only 30 minutes long.
Guest EQ Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 Yeah... I thought it was going to be a 1-hour series... oh well...
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Hahaha. I think I like his friends better than Lucky himself.
