Guest swan Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Jerry Krause resigns as GM of Chicago Bulls CHICAGO -- Chicago Bulls general manager Jerry Krause resigned Monday, citing health problems, the club announced. Krause, 64, directed the Bulls' basketball operations during their run of six NBA championships in the 1990s. But since Michael Jordan led the Bulls to their sixth championship in 1998, the team has struggled to rebuild under Krause. Chicago will finish with a losing record for the fifth straight season and miss the playoffs again. "The rigors and stress of the job have caused me some minor physical problems in the past few years," Krause said in statement released by the team. "Those problems can be eliminated if I lessen my load for a while and concentrate on overcoming them." The 64-year-old Krause held the post since 1985.

On the plus side (for Bulls fans), maybe this means Chicago will actually be able to sign some premium free agents. It's been widely speculated that they couldn't get anyone because they were being unoffically blackballed due to Jordan's displeasure with how the dynasty was broken up by Krause.

Was he the guy responsible for bring the 90's Bulls together and then do some really stupid things like tear that team apart and trade Elton Brand?

But, how can you deny that he played an important role in the Bulls dynasty.

Was he the guy responsible for bring the 90's Bulls together and then do some really stupid things like tear that team apart and trade Elton Brand? He is the guy that tore the team aprt after the last title. He is the one responsible for all the trades and draft picks. I actually think dumping Brand was a good idea. He gets his points and boards, but he won't turn a team around. Both Jordan and Pippen publically insulated Krause when on the Bulls.

For a draft pick like Pippen and Jordan he had Jeff Sanders, Stacy King, Brad Sellars, etc. etc. The year they drafted Jordan he wanted Sam Bowie. Pippen was more luck. Small school pick that was golden. Really thats it. While Brand was a good player, he doesn't carry teams and improve them.

Guest kingkamala Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 If I were a Bulls CEO I'd be at least somewhat interested in Tim Duncan or Jason Kidd. Duncan and Kidd would have to be at least slightly intrigued, it's the third biggest market in the US and the United Center is known to sell out quite a bit despite having Cavs quality teams. Also despite having a crappy few last years the Bulls still have a championship aura around them.

Kidd might be a different story, his wife work's as a reporter for Extra which is one reason why he might stay in New Jersey. Chicago would probably have lots of opportunities to further her career.

His ego always got in the way when it comes to whats right for the team. He blew some drafts he miss a chance to get Karl Malone and Micheal Finley (MJ even suggested to draft Finley). But his people skills suck and is anti-social, I remember Krause came in my store, I said hi to him, and he gave me that "I don't want to be bothered" look and he mumbled hi to me. He look like a doughboy he's real short and goo looking.

He would always pick up those one or two players every year that would come off of the bench and provide some magic. However, he destroyed something that I had grown up watching, so it's about time the scumbag left town.

I hate Krause too, but there's nothing wrong with not wanting to be bothered when you go to the store. I hate when I walk into a store and can't escape the employees. But yes Krause gone = good.
