Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 The Herald Sun reports, via Moviehole, that plans are underway for Jean-Claude Van Damme to star in the follow-up to 1994's Street Fighter, based on the populer game. The Muscles from Brussels has been in talks with talent all week, hoping to lock in an ensemble soon. Australian singer, Holly Valance, has been in talks with Van Damme this week about co-starring in the movie. She would replace fellow singer, Kylie Minogue, who starred in the original. Van Damme is said to have been impressed by Valance - who can apparently kickbox - but according to The Herald Sun the filmmmakers will still be auditioning other actors up until the last minute. The original film was based on the classic video game, with Van Damme in the lead role and Raul Julia playing the film's main villain. It's not yet known whether "Streetfighter 2" will be filmed in Australia - as the first one was - but it is projected that it'll get a theatrical release. Well, for Jean - Claude Van Damme, desperate times call for desperate measures...
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Maybe with a better writer this one could be a better. But then it is Jean Claude Van Damme
The Dames Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Was Kylie Cammie in the original? I definitely could see her playing that. Good thing I don't remember part 1 well. Dames
Paul Stanley Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Kylie was Cammie, she was hot. I'm excited about this.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 I mean, I have no problem with this. BUT! I need a better cast and a better director, man...
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Kylie was in the first one? No wonder it sucked so much ass then...
Guest Star Ocean 3 Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Why can't you people recognize classic cinema? Street Fighter is a good bad movie.
Guest WukenBloodstar Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Oh crap..another Street Fighter movie? No video game movie will ever suck as much as the second Mortal Kombat movie. (Shudder)
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 I don't know how this is going to work... Jean - Claude isn't a draw anymore. His last theatrical movie was Universal Solider(It was decent) but thought that Goldberg was going to bring in the big bucks.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANYONE ELSE PLAY CAMMY!!! (Glares DAGGERS into APO)
Conspiracy_Victim Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 C'mon Kotzen I KNOW you've got some Kylie as Cammy shots somewhere. Mercifully the only time I saw it was on HBO or something like 7 years ago. The thought of Kylie in a beret, ponytail and hot pants makes me feel funny in a good way.
Guest razazteca Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Maybe this time they can hire real fighters and stunt crew to direct the fights scenes in a proper HK style. It could get worst like what if Jamie Kennedy was Charlie.
Guest What? Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Dude, Kylie was good as Cammy, actually.... And a second Street Fighter Movie....god, have we sunk so low?
Guest Sakura Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Finally! The ending of the first was a big cliffhanger. Bison turned out to be alive!
Guest KANE Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 How is Raul Julia going to play Bison again, as the report states? He's dead!
Guest What? Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 It's obviously going to be a new guy, KANE...no-one said it was going to be Raul Julia EDIT: I apologize, I was wrong... Who would be a good M. Bison?
Conspiracy_Victim Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 OK folks because I'm a glutton for bad movies and I KNOW you are too, this gets a bump back up top with fresh news on the sequel everyone's been waiting for. Found at IGN here. Basically says that plans are still going ahead with JCVD to "star" in it, contacted Holly Valance to take on the role of Cammy (one Aussie pop star for another I guess), Damian Chapa to be back as Ken and the big news: Dolph Lundgren MAY come out of retirement to play the bad guy! At last, together again! Universal Soldier's cinematic impact will be felt throughout the ages I tell you! BTW I'm still waiting for some Kylie as Cammy pics Kotzen!
Guest razazteca Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 This movie will need a big name Hong Kong actor or director to get me to the theater.
Guest Galactic Gigolo Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 My guess is that it'd go Direct-to-Video, as has the last three or four Van Damme films. It probably won't be anything special, but not the worst either? Dolph retired? Damn. He became a B-Film staple up until then.
Guest El Satanico Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 The original film was based on the classic video game, with Van Damme in the lead role and Raul Julia playing the film's main villain. That's where Raul Julia is mentioned. And as you can clearly see, it's referring to the original movie.
Guest El Satanico Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Jean - Claude isn't a draw anymore. His last theatrical movie was Universal Solider(It was decent) but thought that Goldberg was going to bring in the big bucks. Jean Claude was never much of a box office draw. Universal Soldier: The Return was the movie with Goldberg in it.
Rendclaw Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Oh god no..... ::feels nauseous all of a sudden:: There, I feel much better now. I can't believe this..... this just CANNOT be happening.... the first one was bad all the way around... its not even good bad.... the only good parts about it were Kylie and Ming Na Wen... and that's because they were CHEESECAKE.... Someone help me.. I think my brain is melting.....
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Yes, the first was bad. Terrible, in fact. But I think it was the good kind of bad, as mentioned. And they should just have Akuma as the villain.
Guest tank_abbott Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Dolph is actually really really smart (140 IQ sound high? I'm not sure how it works....) He came to the USA to study Math or something, and just took up acting as a challange... visits IMDB.com: Dolph Lundgren attended the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. He received a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia in 1982, and the next year was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to MIT. In 1993, he starred in Pentathlon (1994), an action-drama which he also produced under his own production company, Thor Pictures (also known as Red Orm Productions). A world-class athlete, Lundgren took up martial arts at 14 and has achieved his third degree black belt). Guest Askewniverse Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 For those of you who wanted a pic of Kylie as Cammy, here you go (pic is taken from cammyfan.com, credit also goes to Google for directing me there).
Conspiracy_Victim Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Thank you Askew! *designs a new wallpaper....for his computer, of course*
Guest Mole Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 GREAT! We just need another A House of 1000 Corpes and my life will complete.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Alan Rickman would be the best Bison, but of course he'd never do it.
