Sources estimated that the band's recordings have netted Sony $35 million in profit, while the band had received only a little more than $4 million in advances, and no royalty payments." $35 million profit for Sony and no royalty payment to the band. Dirk Lance leaving sucked. They are still locked in this money/album deal issue with Sony, and their material has become progressively sound-like-everything-else.

They get rich, while the artists make peanuts, then they cry about how much money the artists are losing to piracy. Bah. I'll never buy a CD again. Knowing I'm taking a goddamn dime from someone isn't exactly enough motivation to stop me.

That's why I still go to concerts. If bands got rid of the RIAA completely and offered their albums for download off their own websites, I'd be all into it. Since they'd be the ones getting all the money, they could charge $5 to download the album. I would definitely do that, since the artist is the one getting the money (minus technical expenses, of cource), not some faceless conglamerate.

B. Brian Brunzell Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Man, I remember when Incubus sounded DIFFERENT from everyone else. They were UNIQUE. Now, they just sound like every other "Rock" band that's on mainstream Top 40 radio today.
