Guest godthedog Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 i always thought it was odd that i'd never seen michaels do the kip-up before 1996, but i was watching some of his old stuff & came up with a hypothesis. the earliest match i've seen him do a kip-up in was at the february 96 IYH against owen hart. owen used to do a kip-up on occasion (first example that comes into my head is summerslam 94), & if this was the first match he used it in, it looks like it started off as a little in-character insult to owen, and just took off from there. anyone who's seen a kip-up earlier and/or a competing theory, i'd like to hear.
