Notes for next week's Smackdown

The Invasion was horribly blown but atleast it had me watching again and it had good buyrates. Everyone had a title but the stuff entertained me unlike 2000. 2000 was probably the year that first started killing my interest. It was back up by 2001, but 2002 killed it and now there's very little in the way that interests me except the A-Train push and all the returns.

What am I trying to say? I'm not sure...maybe its that there has always been crap to sit through to get to gold... Maybe all the years of watching this crap relegiously has numbed my brain to the point were I can watch it and enjoy it...like a mental patient staring at checkerboard floor tiles...

Heh! Well, I really don't expect every show or match to be "PPV quality" or whatever that amounts to. Lots of wrestling, a few entertaining skits here and there, main eventers that actually capture your interest (HHH just bores/semi-shoots/buries his opponents and Brock can't talk) are what I'm looking for. I liked SD except for Say-bull and Torrie and the nostalgia junk. I'm diss the stuff I hate and praise the stuff I like. Team Angle vs. Team Shiny Pants? Bitchin. The mixed tag match? Fine until Torrie got into the ring. I even dug Matt getting murdered by Brock. I laughed at Demott vs. Jones--at least it was quick. Benoit and Rhyno tore the fucking roof off, and I was marking out. However, when Cena vs. Taker came on, I flipped the station. I wouldn't even mind if Taker were the dead man, but his current boring biker self is just what I think the real him is: a paranoid, bitter old man who sees the "young 'ens" as a threat to his spot.

When I see that, I think of "I'm not feeling it" and WCW. And what happened to WCW. I don't want that to happen to WWE. So I bitch. So what if no one running it hears or listens?

Too True...Vince McMahon warped me as a youth...I too now have a "big man fetish"

So do your interests span into Boxing ans MMA as well?

What bout Lucha and Japanese Strong Style?

I personally dislike Lucha now, but it blew my mind when I 1st saw it in 1995. Now i watch those tapes and see how spotty and contrived it is/was.

I haven't seen much of the japanese style, but what I have seen I've enjoyed.

I dug Lucha until I learned about psychology, although it's still fun to watch and I still watch old ECW Van Dam stuff.

I have some Japan stuff, not much. Mostly FMW. However, something like Tanaka vs. Hayabusa I can get into--

"Missile Dropkick into the arm?! Whoa!"

Still, the vast majority of my wrasslin' is fairly recent WWE stuff.

Boxing/MMA I never really got into.

I don't think I'll pay the 25 bucks to go see Backlash at my Australian local Cinema, but then again, I could have one hell of a bitch in my columns about how crap it was, and that would be fun. :D Hogan-Piper should be an instant replay of Hogan-McMahon and it will end up being Triple H pinning Booker again at a PPV. Now lets all hope that Steph books Team Angle to lose their Tag Titles to 'The Hosses' A-Train and Big Show. That would just cap off the friggin night, wouldn't it?

DOWN WITH THE HOSSES

Hasn't Backlash always had traditionally crappy cards?

So i guess they got to keep the tradition alive. :bonk:

2000 was a great year for wrestling. edge & christian, the hardys and the dudleys had the spotfests; edge & christian really came into their own with the 5-second poses and the kazoos and numerous other things i don't have time to mention; trips/foley; trips/rock; trips/angle (bad blowoff match but a great storyline); angle came into his own & won his first world title; jericho almost came into his own, having one of the better 'raw' moments ever, doing a great match with trips over the summer & having a great feud with benoit; benoit had a good year with jericho, angle, rock & the radicals...

Edge and Christian were entertaining but for a good part of the beginning of the year they were "who are these guys?" Triple H/Foley had me entertained but that lasted the first three months. Triple H/Rock had been done so many times the two years before and it was more heated in 1998. Triple H/Angle/Eddie only had me interested because I wanted to see Chyna get back with HHH. I honestly have never cared about Angle and still don't and did less even back then. I also only started somewhat liking Jericho when he won the Undisputed titles and now in this feud with Shawn. In all honesty, the only thing in 2000 that kept me even remotely interested was Saturn and Terri and HHH beating ass. I'm not saying 2000 was bad, it just bored me like 2002 and 2003 are doing.

What power wrestlers are there in the WWF right now that are good?

Brock Lesnar. And although it's obvious the marks love him, and he's a good worker there is CONSTANT BITCHING about everything he does.

Better not mention me. I haven't criticized Brock in almost two months.

After watching this entire folder over analyze every minute facet of the Lesnar/Angle feud and look for anything that could possibly be construed as making Team Angle look sub-par, ("He didn't tap out to the ancklelock before Benoit broke it up!") I have to laugh at that.

I meant in regards to his ring work.

And Brock looking invincible at every turn is why smark AND mark interest in the fued was low. It was so fucking obvious he was going to go over at Mania, even if you didn't know about the neck problems of Angle.

No one hates on Brock's ring work that I've seen around here.

The people booking him on the other hand...

The bad feud isn't Brock's fault. It's the bookers.

Exactly. In fact, that's the problem with almost everything wrong with the WWE.

Well, the bookers and Vince and whoever comes up with these nostalgia trip ideas (probably Vince himself).

That was my point Kahran.

People don't sit here and bitch about Brock himself...they bitch about the way he is booked.
