The Return of The Cheesy!

Recommended Posts

Guest Youth N Asia

In case you haven't noticed, the WWE is going back to showing the cheesy vintages before guys show up.

Nathan Jones from prison, trying to sell that he served time.

The Frenchies and their corny promos.

The FBI skits playing them off as real mafia type guys.

Maybe I'm alone on this, but I like the corny stuff. They seemed to be taking shit too seriously lately. I love it when Hurricane "flys" off screen and the other people look at it as though he had. And Los Guerrero's "Lie, Cheat, And Steal" skits (although those aren't on near enough)

I just think it's nice to be able to laugh durring the shows now. Helps take away from the fact that HHH won't put over any new talent and whatnot.

Sorta kinda. The VIVA LA RAZA~! skits are kinda weird, but I like the FBI stuff, and the Nathan Jones promos before he actually, you know, showed up.

The FBI skits are entertaining, but they could be better. The Nathan Jones ones were great, but they have dropped the ball since he debuted. What happened to the cold menacing prison inmate? Now he is Undertaker's bitch. The Eddy/Chavo skits are ridiculously bad. I don't like the French gimmick that much, so I don't really like the French vignettes either. I'm all for more gimmicks though and vignettes bringing them in.

I love the French thing cause it gives me an excuse to bust out my bad accent when they're on tv

They still do the SOH ones every once and awhile.

I like vignettes. They're a good way to build up a wrestler.

I love that stuff...It really builds Ancipation for a Character...

It gives the Fans an reason to get into them at first...

SOH has been the best example of building a Character completely around a Promo...

However, It seems they can't figure out how to translate that into the ring...Which Is I wouldn't be shocked if he RARELY wrestles...

The only problem I have with the french wrestlers is they look like every other power plant type wrestler who has came up over the last 4 years. Same type of build with gelled hair spiked in the front. It has gotten to the point that I yearn for the days of wrestling clowns and garbage men.

I KINDA see what you mean...Yes...Everyone has the same ripped body it seems...

I mean look at 1996-2000 all the guys look different...

How come the new generation looks like a Cross Breed of Luger and Sting?

Rene Dupree and Sylvian Grenier (AKA Evil French Canadian Ref from No Way Out/Wrestlemania). They're all evil and French-Canadian and cultured and stuff. EEEEEVIL! Just like Nowinski being an EEEEVIL Democrat. Or something.

Can anyone else see Triple H in an herbal essences commercial? That'd give me quite the laugh.

Everytime I see one of these vignettes, I think back to the Razor Ramon days. Boy of boy, did I ever mark for that. "I'm the bad guy, chico..."

Hurricane rules all. He should never ever ever drop this gimmick.

The Guerreros and F.B.I vignetes ae brilliant IMO. The point is watching wrestling is for fun...right?

Mattitude provides it. Hurricane provides it. Booker T and Goldie provided it, as did Edge and Christian. Same ofr Rock and Jericho. If it's funny, it'll get over usually. That's where the Guerreros Cheat 2 Win stuff comes in to that too...only they get a vignete to build it up.

Interesting gimmicks get over too...O'Haire, and Jones come into that. The vignetes just add to it.

And well, the F.B.I is somehwere in the middle of fun and interest.

All the vignetes work well....probably because most of the WWE writers are soap writers anyway. Just my chance to say the Guerreros vignetes are AWESOME!

Oh, and as for Hurricane...he needs to slightly adapt if he wants to become a top star. Take on a serious form when he really needs to. The fun and games are all well and good, but until he does he'll just be another comedy underdog all his life.
