Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted April 27, 2003 The Lakers needed this one badly, and they got it. I think that the Lakers will win the series, but it will be a dog fight to the end.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I'm not worried at all about the Laker's I 've seen them do this shit before and still come out on top and I'm sure it will happen again. Plus, I also called the Magic. The Pistons suck. I can't see how they had such a great regular season record the way their palying.

Guest notJames Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Did anyone catch Walton's bizarre comment yesterday when he said that the Shaquille was "fully aroused" for this game? It wouldn't have been so horrible if they didn't follow it up with one of those "under the floorboard" shots of Shaquille under the basket, so all you could see was his crotch. Ewwww!!! F.L.A. Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Haha, yeah I did notice that weird Walton comment....while I was eating too! That was just disturbing. Game was good though. All these series are pretty competitive but god they are taking forever. I mean they now have 4 different rounds of best of 7 series. That's enough to wear down any viewer. Guest Lethargic Report post Posted April 28, 2003 You would think that extending the first round that they would've went back to 4 games a night but nooooo. Can anybody explain why it takes 4 days of travel to get to Utah from Sac? Did they walk or something?
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Look for the Kings to take care of business tonight after playing so sluggish on Saturday.......Kings will take the 3-1 lead~!
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Anyone can see that the Jazz are just too old and slow to keep up with the Kings... I was surprised that Sacramento lost the other night... Moving on, I could see Orlando taking the Eastern Conference Championship, though the only two teams that can unseat them are Milwaukee and New Jersey. They will play one of those teams. although if and when they knock off the Pistons (then I can start laughing at Detroit as a sports town... you should have seen the long, saddened faces around here when the Red Wings became a victim of their own arrogance, priceless), and seeing Philly as they're possible next opponent... seeing Iverson and T-Mac going shot-for-shot will be absolutely EPIC. But I do have to say that anyone who wins the East with the possible exception of the Nets are going to be the sacrificial lamb for the Western Conference Champ.... although another way of looking at it is that the way things are shaping up, whomever comes out of the West is going to be beaten all to hell, possibly making in interesting series for a hot team out of the East, who has maybe has lost no more than say, five or six games in their playoff series run. if the Wolves HAVE to lose, I pray they make the Lakers EARN it. Inch by hard-fought inch.

Guest Lethargic Report post Posted April 29, 2003 I've gone from thinking the Wolves don't stand a chance to now I think they're going to end up winning in 7. They're so tough on their home court that I don't know if Lakers can win there again. I also think all the bitching at Garnett the past few days about his comments and his missed free throws is going to make him go up yet another notch tonight in front of a rocking crowd at the Target Center. Kobe still hasn't been himself since that shoulder injury. Fox is out. The Lakers bench is already short, now that George has to be thrown into the starting lineup, the bench gets even more suspect with only Shaw being the only decent player on there. I think they'll also miss Fox's defense. And if even if they DO get out of the first round, there is NO WAY this team is winning the whole thing this year. The run is over. Guest Rob Van Dam Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I'm a die hard Lakers fan, but even i know Lakers are going to have a tough time beating sacremento in the playoffs, Lakers basically have only 6 scorers right now (shaq, kobe, fisher, horry, george, and shaw) since Fox is out the entire playoffs. They also have Madsen and Walker, but both of them aren't depedable scorers, and there other two guys are rookies, Rush and Pargo. But if Horry and Fisher keep making there shots Lakers should be unbeatable the rest of the way.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted April 30, 2003 If Peja doesn't sprain an ankle...there is no way that the Laker will beat the Kings. Fox is a much bigger part to the lakers than people realize. His work defending small forwards is great. He is the TRUE best defender on the laker squad(I laugh everytime someone mentions Kobes name as a top defender). Without him...I just don't see it. Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted April 30, 2003 The Lakers looked very good last night. They were definately running on all cylinders. It also looks like the Wolves will end end up kicking themselves over blowing Game 4. But, the Lakers looked awesome after Game 1, and then they went to sleep for the next two games. So I could see the Lakers forgetting to push the button for Game six, and then finally winning it in Game seven. The Spurs looked very good for the first half of their game, and that proved to be enough to put them on a collision course against the Lakers. I think that the Spurs are going to be much tougher than the Timberwolves. for a few reasons. Derrick Fisher has a hard time defending quick guards, which Tony Parker is. No one on the Lakers will be able to defend Duncan, who will cancel out a good chunk of Shaq's points. Robinson, who might not be able to stop Shaq, will at least be able to get some rebounds and have the opportunity to score double digit points. And with the lost of Fox, the Laker bench gets that much more depleted. And the Lakers will miss his defense and experience. It also will be interesting to see how Kobe's shoulder holds up and how much it does effect his scoring. When Kobe is only going for 26 points, instead of 36... and with the Lakers not having a reliable third scorer, night in and night out, it does make a difference. And being that the Spurs swept the Lakers in the regular season shows me that the Spurs have absolutely no fear of the Lakers this year. So the Lakers will not have the mental edge that the have had over the last few years. But, I do think this will be more than likely a great series, with it going seven games easily. But, the Lakers better be on their game, because they have slept wlaked through at least three games so far. They do that against the Spurs, and it will be a very long series. Fox is a much bigger part to the lakers than people realize. His work defending small forwards is great. He is the TRUE best defender on the laker squad(I laugh everytime someone mentions Kobes name as a top defender). Without him...I just don't see it. Last year. Fox has been running neck-and-neck with Horry for worst detriment to the team this year. Devean George is much, much better than Fox in all facets of the game with the exception of experience. He's a more active defender, something needed against Peja, a more athletic rebounder and a better shooter. He also has less of an ego, understanding that the key to success is to run the offense through Shaq and let Kobe score and create shots for everyone else. Tony Parker will be a problem for the Lakers, no doubt. But the Spurs and the Kings will lack something Minnesota had to its advantage. And that's the element of surprise. The Lakers thought they were going to run over the T-wolves, then Troy Hudson decided it wasn't going to be that easy. If anything, the Lakers will be most ready for the Spurs because they won all 4 regular-season games.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 30, 2003 The Spurs can and will go all the way to the Finals it does not matter if they have to go thru California or Dallas. The Spurs will win because they have a solid bench and the Coach of the Year who knows how to match up opponets, when they lost the games to the Suns the Spurs came back with a big win. They lost one game by Free Throws and depending too much on the Outside game so they changed game plans and used the guards to drive down the middle making it easilier for the big men, even though Robinson & Willas could not play the Spurs went to the bottom of the bench to the 12th man with Danny Ferry and won the game. In game 5 the Spurs blew out the Suns by again changing game plans with using Malik Rose with Robinson & Duncan to do the dirty work at rebounding in the middle and only shot what 8 3-pointers not giving the Suns a chance at coming back and when they did the Spurs squashed that run with rebounding and general defense. How deep is the Lakers bench? Can the Lakers bench match up to Spurs Rookies of Ginobli and Claxton? Will Bruce Bowen smack around "Maddog" Mark Madden when he tries to play offense? I'm as big a Lakers fan as there is (browse through this forum a bit if you don't believe me)...however, I'm also realistic enough to know that Fox was a big enough piece of the puzzle that they're in DEEP trouble against the Spurs. They're not going to beat them with what amounts to a 6-man rotation.
Guest Spicy McHaggis Report post Posted April 30, 2003 How deep is your knowledge of basketball? Claxton isn't a rookie. He was hurt for his first year, but still had the experience of being on an NBA team. Bruce Bowen will defend Kobe, like he always does... not Mark MADSEN who is a power forward. Also, changing offensive strategies game to game may work against a weak 8th seeded team. But it doesn't work against the seasoned and experienced playoff defense of the three-time defending champions. The Spurs are going to have to come up with a working strategy, like having Parker break down Fisher to draw the big men away from Duncan, and stick to it. And there's a big difference between the inside D of the Suns and that of the Lakers.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 30, 2003 In the game nobody will defend Mark Madson they would double team Kobe & Shaq. I was refering the Bowen vs Madson match up because they are the "defense" specialist. You got me on calling Claxton a Rookie I meant the young players who had little to no playoff experience. Bruce Bowen and Stephen Jackson can draw the Laker defense to the outside while Parker will break down his defender going for a layup or pass to Duncan who waits in the paint with Rose doing the dirty work like setting picks or going for the rebound.
