on Raw when he came out both Coach and Lawler seemed pretty much in awe of him. Then the camera started putting pro-Rock signs all over the tvs. I find it funny that when Rock gave Goldberg the Rock bottom and stood over him, the arena was filled with, "Rocky, Rocky, Rocky" chants.....This was the first week that EVERYTHING about Rock's segments made him look like a face.(except for the cheap heat on knocking atlanta)however that heat with the crowd lasted about 5 seconds.

Announcers were likely putting him over in prep for Sunday's match (will mean a lot more when Goldberg beats him...).

 

I say likely, as I will not see RAW until this Friday.

1)I think that Goldberg isnt' gettin over with the crowd as much as people think.

 

2)Rock standing over victim has always been a mark out moment/classic.

His character at this point is tremendous, I think if he had a babyface to feud with who was worth a shit to the crowd he'd be cheered less. Still, he's great and they know it.

Well I know he needs to be over for Backlash, however if The Rock is who everyone wants to see and NOT Goldberg, then WWE is fucked after backlash(especially Raw brand). I just don't see the emphasis of HEEL being put on The Rock. I mean JR would sell Bischoff like Satan for the stupidest little things.

I gotta say..............That was an AWESOME visual when the Rock gave Goldberg the Rock Bottom and you can see at LEASThalf of the crowd cheering him and the Rocky chants with him doing the "taking it in" taunt was tremendous. This heel Rock I have to say is way better than the first heel Rock. His character is amazing.

The Rock's current persona is by far the best manifestation of his character I've ever seen. And I love how he's a tweenerish type of guy, because he pulls it off well. They were in WCW's former homeland, and Rock was getting 75% of the crowd pops. Marks these days are not as moronic as they seem. They know a great superstar whent they see one, and Rock is just that. It's too bad he's gone.

Its a long way away, but I never thought he was coming back.

Errm, I would have to disagree and say Rock's original Heel persona was better because, well, it was a HEEL character. All Rock does now to be considered a heel is throw out some cheap heat once per 20 minutes of comedy and then goes back to being hilarious. There is nothing that screams HEEL about him. Yes, the Rock concert should be a heel tactic, but not if the crowd LOVES him.

All those comedy skits with the Hurricane screamed face heat. Who in their right mind would watch that and not come out of it, liking The Rock more? The Rock quite simply, is just NOT a heel.

His first heel character was better because the fans didn't give a shit about him at first and he could be a fantastic heel the problem with his heel character now he was the marks favourite wrestler for years so a heel character can never work the same as when they didn't give a shit what possible way could he get real heel heat with out taking the piss out of the town being cocky he was even that as a face,take the piss out of his opponent did that as a face the only way he could be a heel was to rag on the city he was in.

 

Lets all hope that when he comes back from his next movie the fans still buy him as a heel and don't welcome him back as a face because we can all remember how boring his character was the last few years as a face the simple truth is faces can hardly ever be orginal and trully entertaining thats why playing a heel is always more fun you get to be creative and act anyway you feel like and Rock can play a heel better than anyone since Flair back in the day.
