Teddy Long and his 5 minute "White Boy" Challenge

Recommended Posts

Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620

Now I remember awhile back when the Booker/Trips angle was getting a little racist people were going nuts. What I want to know is what's the difference between that and Teddy Longs "White Boy" challenge?

I personally think at least the HHH/Booker angle was entertaining. But this shit with Rodney Mack beating the hell out of a full time jobber to prove his black superiority is useless.

We weren't really all that pissed because of the racist undertones. IMO, we were pissed because they were taking a feud like Booker T (who needs to be an established main eventer) vs. Triple H, and turning it into some ridiculous piece of shit feud that seemed to be about race, but they didn't come out and tell you it was.

Rodney Mack, on the other hand, is Rodney Mack. The angle is a way to introduce Mack to the WWE, and at the same time, spout off a couple humorous lines.

And by the way, don't forget to back the Mack in the 2004 election.

He was unbanned because the mods mistook him for a previously banned poster.

Mik… read the end of the Booker T thread. He's not SmarkZone.

And this Mack stuff is being played more for laughs than serious racial antagonism. Although personally, I don't find it interesting or funny, but hey, I'm just a faceless fan, right Vince?

If you have nothing to offer the thread then don't post. Go to NHB and spout out you bullshit. If you were smart you'd realize I was banned by accident have been allowed to come back. And by the way what is you peoples obsession with me?

Now back on subject good point Galactic Gigolo, but the HHH/Booker angle had some funny lines in it to. I just don't think that this is a good way for "The Mack" to start out in WWE.(IMO)

I never understood why HHH was going on with his "nappy hair" comments that we never had Teddy Long come out and protest this.

I personally don't care for either. HHH/Booker could've been done more effectively, and even if they had, it still is stupid because it would be likely to alienate the majority of the audience, and this Teddy Long shit is nothing but gross stereotyping and it's more annoying than anything else. I can't speak for others though.

The thing is, every feud needs a pay-off…

Apparently, you haven't been paying attention to the recent goings-on in VinceLaLaLand. See Angle-Steph-HHH triangle, Molly's Fat-Assed Virginity… ;)

I see your point, though. No way can this Mack business have any kind of satisfying resolution.

I think I must've got this idea from JHawk's RAW report, but I think he alluded to the possibility of Mack going through quite a number of random jobbers, and possibly a few lowcarders before he's beaten by a debuting superstar who beats him in a brief feud. There'll be room for this type of feud when the brand specific PPVs start

Nash will defeat the Mack.

He's of mixed heritage (I know he has at least some Native American in him), so I guess that's fine and dandy.

Both angles suck.

This would only be cool if Mack like, you know, actually beat some higher up "white" uppercarders or midcarders.

Mack will continue this angle and will lose to Tenacious Z when he debuts.

Will make for a great pop when Mack gets beat by a one legged White Man.

You know that actually, kinda makes sense... With the way the WWE is playing things out lately.

That would be great. But honestly, do you think the creative team has what it takes to actually do that?

Teddy Long's comments and racist crap was more gimmicky and it has been done to it, and basically it comes from a place where Teddy claims that Rodney and Jazz will beat the White boys and girls because they have been JIPPED out in their careers.... its a same arguement and gimmicks that is similar to the NOD.

HHH...on the other hand, what made it more offensive was that the gimmick wasn't suppose to really be racist....it was sorta added in, that HHH in a position of Privilege and Power not only doesn't see Booker T as a threat, but sees him just as a Little Punk that should would be better serve carrying his luggage then trying to fight him. it was the Infuriating Air of Superiority and we took that step beyond proclaiming the undertones to be Ugly racist.

Its hard to say which one is more offensive than the other because both is wrought with stereotype. What I guess you can say is from the position the offender is coming from...HHH from a place of Power, and Long proclaiming his position from the point of being tired of watching Da Mack getting Smacked with Inequalities.

What makes it a shame is that if you look at those referring jobs, Long seems to be RIGHT and he and Mack are the heels.

But...if all white refs are biased, wouldn't Long be doing more good going back to refereeing (maybe even being the heel ref who screws over white guys) rather than being a black manager who just bitches about it?

Oh...WWE Logic...the great oxymoron.

They could have Mack lose to a white guy in a tag match, with Booker on the team against Mack. Then, they follow up and start a program between Mack and the other wrestler. The reason Booker T should be involved is that this gives Teddy Long fuel to keep the gimmick alive "The only reason you won the match was because a brother was helping you out." or something along those lines. This would allow Mack and Long to still look strong and slowly pull away from the gimmick.

Mack is such a terrible worker, it's a good thing he has such a great catch phrase and Teddy Long's suits to keep him afloat.
