Guest mastermind Report post Posted March 25, 2002 Okay, I stated this in another thread. Suppose the wwf didn't have any plans for Austin because the plan was changed? It could be that simple and the wwf used last week to come up with something. Again, this is all speculation on the part of everyone because no one knows what the damn problem is if there is a problem. Okay, to explain myself here. I will also go into why I think the wwf is slowly reverting back to some sort of kayfabe. When I was talking about the "new work" I said it really started with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. Bischoff used the real life heat between the wcw and the wwf's "new generation". When they were intoduced they were introduced as the other guys from up north. Well, yes they were. However, soon Vince and company would counter and say they weren't sent down by the wwf. Bischoff used that in a storyline and Nash and Hall didn't answer if Vince sent them or not, but Nash and Hall gave him the answer through a jackknife onto a table. That would be the last we saw of Bischoff for awhile which should be remembered. The wwf started to use this to their advantage by saying Diesel and Razor Ramone were coming back. It turned out JR was lying and did it to embarass the wwf and Vince Mcmahon who had fired him. This was in late 1996 and it was weird seeing JR call Vince out like that. That was the first time on television Vince was referred to anything, but a lowly commentator. However, Vince didn't acknowledge his true role. This is where the "new work" started to creep into the industry. Now with the wwf doing that angle it killed the illusion that Hall and Nash were sent by the wwf, so wcw used Bischoff as the man who signed the nWo to come in that was revealed through Roddy Piper. At the time some felt it was a stupid move, but in hindsight I think it makes a lot of sense since Bischoff was no where around when the nWo was in their roots. So, this was also a time when the internet wrestling scene started to pick up. Mcmahon STILL kept the illusion on television that Gorilla Monsoon was the boss although JR would rip into Mcmahon. When Bret returned for Royal Rumble the seeds were set up when Bret went to Vince and said he was screwed by Austin. The wwf was now putting Mcmahon in the storylines in his true role because the internet world had Vince as the owner and the one making the decisions. He had gone onto the AOL chat and talked about everything in September 1996 before Bret returned such as losing Hall and Nash (before the JR angle). It was only implied that Vince was the boss. I remember when Austin turned face he did an interview on RAW where he said he doesn't care if the fans cheer him or not. He doesn't care what Vince thinks about the situation either which is also another hint that he was running things. The wwf was slowly building this because the internet was growing big. Vince Russo is known for being an internet crowd mark. Bret was also a big component in revealing Vince was the boss all the way from post Rumble RAW where he quit out of protest that he didn't get his "opportunity promised by Vince". To prior to SummerSlam where Vince got knocked around for putting Shawn in the main event as referee. Vince was STILL not acknowledging his true role. It was around the time of September 1997 at MSG where the first signs of Vince acknowledging himself as being the real owner came about. He said he had to prevent Austin from wrestling to avoid a lawsuit on the wwf. Austin stunned the boss of the wwf and JR went ballistic. Later on we got the Attitude Era born when Vince started to do his mission statements. Now with fans accepting that Vince is owner and that matches could be predetermined Vince was put into the wwf storylines as showing his hand in matches and "fixing" matches. JR stated once early in Austin's first reign that Vince runs things and supposedly threw away the format because Vince can and will do anything anyways that he wants by announcing matches and taking away matches and getting who he wants to win. This was hot until about 1999 where it went to his daughter Stephanie and Triple H in early 2000. Fans took it that Vince was being more truthful with the product, but in fact they were creating a new work to fit the modern era. Muzanisa, the wwf admits to characters and storylines on the wwf website, but never actually say it's fake in the wwf world. Stuff like Rock "thanking" Hogan on the website isn't really thanking him for jobbing, but for getting into the match with him. The wwf is smart with the fine line because we can pick it up. They have stated its characters and storylines with predetermined matches in the real media, but are pulling back on it recently. That was to fit into the Mcmahon power hungry owner who "fixes" the matches to his liking.
