The Game blasts The Franchise

Recommended Posts

In this month's RAW Magazine Triple H took a shot at "The Franchise" Shane Douglas. Here's what he said.

"Look at a guy like Shane Douglas. He made a career out of blasting Ric Flair, saying that Flair should've been teaching him and handing the torch to him. Why would Flair have given anything to him? Shane Douglas was a bottom-of-the-card guy outside of ECW. He certainly wasn't in a position to be the next 'Man' in the business. But, he will tell everybody under the sun that he was, and that Ric Flair held him back."

Well, as a loyal Shane Douglas fan, I have to say that HHH is full of shit. Why wasn't Shane in the position to get the "torch"? Was it because he wasn't banging the bosses daughter? Bullshit!

I have to agree with Cripple H. A series of bad gimmicks and from what I heard bad attitudes buried him

Douglas was on the Clique's shit list, but considering all the enemies he has and all the bridges he's burned, I think it would be too much of a coincidence to assume he was innocent in all of them.

Sorry, but I actually have to side with Crips on this one, although Douglas had plenty of talent and could easily have been a top star in another promotion like WCW or WWF if he wasn't so hard to get along with.

Exactly. Douglas is pissing on the legancy of Flair if he truly believes he was deserving of the torch.

Trips is actully RIGHT for a change, Douglas only ability was to work the mic and that was it. He was SEVERELY injury prone (even mo so then HHH).

Douglas is stuck in XPW or whatever, and HHH is the #1 Man in Wrestling (In Position that is).

Well, Shane Douglas was never one to listen to corperate BS, or kiss the bosses ass. Shane was never a "yes man". That's why he made so many enemies in the wrestling business.

HHH speaks the truth. Douglas sucks and has always sucked. He just doesn't have what it takes.

Totally agree with Triple H on this one.

Wow. The majority of us(myself included) agree with HHH. THE END IS NEAR!

Shane deserves all the shit he gets. He's managed to blackball himself from wrestling, with the exception of XPW, but then again, XPW really isn't wrestling.

Fuck this noise...

Shane Douglas went from a lamely done Rocker ripoff tag team to producing some of the best matches in WCW's 92-93 era. As part of a team with Ricky F'N Steamboat, they helped launce the Hollywood Blondes duo of Pillman and Austin into smart crowd favorites pretty damn quick.

He was the cornerstone of ECW. None of that "Big fish, small pond" shit. Douglas was THE man for ECW.

WCW used him like shit. A team with Bagwell? Stupid. The feud with Flair? Nothing like what it should have been. Don't even get me started on the Kidman and Rection feuds.

And the man should NOT be a face. ECW was able to pull it off with the retirement angle in '99 in order to get Impact Players over. But WCW's lameass face turn where Shane was poised to feud with RICK STEINER would have sucked. Shane is a natural heel, let him shine that way.

Triple H WISHES he could do what Shane has done, character wise. Triple H is now getting X-Pac heat. Douglas still draws a reaction, favorable or not, wherever he goes.

Hey Jn News...

Shane Douglas isn't this Rebel Outlaw, like he loves to protray himself as. Shane Douglas was and always will be an Average Wrestler First, Great Mic Worker second.

Shane is a Disgrace to the legancy of Ric Flair if he truely believes that Flair should've handed the torch down to him. Douglas has been an Injury prone bitter man for his whole career. He brought his own hype about him being "The Next Flair". Why would Flair waste his time grooming Douglas to be his Protege?

Do you know who Flair thought was Worthy? Steve Austin.

Shane Douglas can enjoy his time in XPW or where ever he hasn't been blacklisted....No One wants to see him.

Shane may be injury prone these days, but it certainly wasn't that way his whole career.

And considering the man put on **** matches on a nightly basis at one point in his life, I wouldn't call him just an average worker. A Dynamite Kid or Benoit he isn't, but he's also no slouch.

Triple H is absolutely right.

Shane Douglas is just a bitter asshole whose upset that he never made it in the big leagues.

I HATE Shane Douglas- He's flat out awful in the ring, boring in the mic and is a bitter piece of shit to boot

If you had to deal with the self-serving bullshit from Flair, Michaels, Nash, Hall, etc., or the bounced checks from Paul E. I think you'd be pretty bitter too.

So does this mean that hell has frozen over and a surprise apperance by Shane Douglas will happen soon?

Shane was/is a better heel than HHH.

Raven and Shane carried ECW, not just Shane. Raven as world champ was ECW's hottest period in terms of company growth(and was the hottest period in ECW history period). After Raven lost the belt, things slowly went downhill from there.

If I sucked at my job as badly as Shane Douglas does- I would be thankful to still have a paycheque.

Hey Shane- Ric Flair did something bad to you a long time ago- No one cares so move on

No one is saying Shane alone carried ECW. The Raven/Dreamer feud, Sabu, Taz, RVD...they all have obviously been a huge part of the evolution of ECW.

Shane, however, save for Raven, was THE top heel in that company. He had the crowd in the palm of his hand.

Shane has always been entertaining and calling him a piece of shit is ridiculous. In his day, Shane put on great matches and was always tremendous on the mic. And he's a helluva lot more entertaining than HHH.

I disagree. Douglas, in character, makes you hate him. In real life he seems to be a cool guy. HHH in or out of character, he just makes you want to hate him. That's what I want in a good heel. To some extent it's like people used to look at Flair when he was at his peak of being a heel.

I would take a HHH promo or match (well except for his WORST stuff) over any Shane Douglas match or promo that I've seen.

I never got the vibe from Flair that he was, or should have been, hated in reality. Character wise the man was the best, but OOC he was the man about town, and people loved him.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

Just out of curiosity, when was the last time Douglas mentioned Flair/Kliq/WWF? It seems out of the blue that HHH would bring it up, unless

1. Vince fears XPW or 2. HHH is an ass.

I'm gonna guess 2.

XPW is dead so it's not one.

And I think HHH was using Shane as an example so I won't say two,

I pick 1.5
