Guest Deebo Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 HHH worked his ass off to get to the top, despite having friends in high places, he DID work to get there. Where the politics come in is when he refuses to let anyone join him on the top, but that's beside the point. Last time I saw Shane Douglas, he was overweight and wrestling shitty matches in XPW. If he showed up on WWE TV I doubt even 1/4 of the crowd would care.
Guest RedJed Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 If it wasn't for Flair shafting him back in 93, Douglas probably wouldnt have had half the character persona he created on his own accord from being fucked over. Take that as you will. I think HHH is somewhat biased though on his opinion of Douglas since he's always been on the shit list of the Kliq in the first place. I think Douglas was in much more of a postion to be put over or whatever by Flair and others as something "big" when he came into WCW the same time Russo returned though. I think he deserved it by that time, of course in 93 though he didn't deserve to be pushed like a monster though. By that point in 2000 he had a solid established run in ECW, and was over as a credible heel.........the next step was just further elevation.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 Shane did that cause that's what the guys in the smaller feds do, dumbass! ECW always bashed WCW and WWF. Why? Cause it makes them look like the rebel, and by WWF or WCW bringing attention to it it would only help ECW. WWF did it to WCW when they were getting their asses kicked in the ratings, and WCW did the same. Maybe he should have fucked the bosses daughter instead of speaking his mind.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 What's with all this Dean Douglas fanboyism?
Guest papacita Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 Eh...I still say Dean Douglas was a great character. And Shane in ECW in 96/early 97 was the shit.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 Maybe he should have fucked the bosses daughter instead of speaking his mind. HHH was who he is today long before he ever dated Steph. It just worked to his advantage a little more and he gets to fuck a rich piece of ass. And she's pretty hot looking sometimes, but who cares...SHE'S RICH!!!!!!! I'm sorry for the out burst it's just to obvious to me.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 Well I know that. But in the position he's in now he has no room to rip anyone else for how they do business.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 Maybe he should have fucked the bosses daughter instead of speaking his mind. HHH was who he is today long before he ever dated Steph. Guest snuffbox Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 [ And she's pretty hot looking sometimes, but who cares...SHE'S RICH!!!!!!! I'm sorry for the out burst it's just to obvious to me. thanks for another genius observation
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 What made me bust a gut when reading this is the fact that for the longest time, at least to me, HHH has been copying Douglas right up to being called the 'franchise' of raw.
Guest snuffbox Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 I think its obvious that Hunter has some serious emotional issues to deal with...
Guest Zack Malibu Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 What made me bust a gut when reading this is the fact that for the longest time, at least to me, HHH has been copying Douglas right up to being called the 'franchise' of raw. I actually made mention of this a few weeks ago while watching RAW with my friends. The "next Ric Flair" and "franchise" comparisons are just a little too close to Douglas if you ask me.
Guest Markme123 Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 And considering the man put on **** matches on a nightly basis at one point in his life, I wouldn't call him just an average worker. A Dynamite Kid or Benoit he isn't, but he's also no slouch. At what point exactly did Shane bust out **** matches on a nightly basis? That only matches that I remember from him that were any good happened when he was tagging with Steamboat. And, Steamboat would work most of the match.
Guest NoCalMike Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 I enjoyed Shane Douglas' heel character much more than Triple H's heel character. Ring work-wise I'd rank Douglas slightly better than Triple H. When Pillman had his stint in ECW, Douglas was pure gold. Douglas was also a goldmine of a heel during his feud with the Pitbulls. Douglas has long and away fucked himself over, by burning too many bridges. Of course in 2003 the damage has been done. However usually Douglas's rants were referring to things going on back in the mid-90's(and earlier) so you can't hold that stuff against him now. I just don't care to hear from someone like Triple H talking about who "deserves" a spot where. And why in the hell did WWE magazine even print that, what was the point of bringing up Shane Douglas?
Guest PencilJobber Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 Got to go with Trips on this Shane had no right to try and tell the world Flair should have been passing the Torch to him it should have been upto Flair as to who he passed the Torch to you don't tell someone to pass the Torch to you and when was Shane ever in Flair's league he was a good worker and a great talker but the guy Flair should have passed the Torch to he wasn't. Pillman should have got the Torch as he had it all just injury's derailed him but other wise he would have been the perfect candidate to receive the big push.
Guest Redhawk Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 I've heard all these things about Shane Douglas whining about this and that, but I've never actually heard Shane say anything. Does anyone have a link to a shoot interview with him or something?
Guest NoSelfWorth Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 I think it's ironic that Cripple H bashed Shane Douglas, seeing as how they're pretty much mirror images of each other.
Guest CanadianChris Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 I've heard all these things about Shane Douglas whining about this and that, but I've never actually heard Shane say anything. Does anyone have a link to a shoot interview with him or something? Well, here's a link to a sample of it (circa 1999), but Shane's whole existence in ECW was based on promos against the Clique and "Dick" Flair.
Guest Midnight Express83 Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 Well, I agree with Triple H. I seen alot of Douglas work up until he left for ECW. And, he is a crappy worker, his mic skills are eh at best. He is bitter, and he thinks he should be at the top of the card. He doesn't have that it factor, and anyone can make a good promo bashing the WWF saying fuck 1000 times. It isn't that hard. Shane Douglas wishes someone would put him higher, but he didn't deserve to go higher. If he really wanted to move the card as much as he said he does. Why not wrestle Sting, who was the Rocky of WCW as in putting anyone and everyone over. Now the funny part is HHH is playing the Shane Douglas role, except without all the fuck and shit. So it is STILL boring. And it is very fucked up that Trips of all people is bashing Shane at this point in Shane's career. As for all those **** matches Shane Douglas had in WCW. Well, look who is partner was, and look who they were facing. Big Show would be in **** matches if he was teaming with Ricky Steamboat. Triple H is better of a wrestler because he busted out **** matches by HIS work, not because of his partner doing most of the work, sans the quad tear match.
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 It makes you wonder sometimes... Shane gets lost in the crowd whenever he goes to WCW or WWF. But in ECW he is a Wrestling GOD! pretty much when you got the majority of the wrestlers doing Hardcore garbage, people like Douglas, Benoit, Malenko, Guerrero, Taz etc really do stand out.
Guest notJames Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 I think Shane and Hunter need to lock themselves in a room and pick the sand out of each others' vaginas. They're essentially the same person, with the same boring matches and the same "me-first" attitude. They were only good when others made them look good. They were also on top of their promotions by the sheer force of pushes that outlived the audience's desire to see them. Too bad Shane decided to fuck Francine instead of someone higher on the political food chain. Fuck both Franchises.
Guest mach7 Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 I find it hilarious that the whole time Douglas bashed Flair, they were in different feds. Flair in WCW, and Douglas in ECW. How the fuck is a guy in a different federation supposed to "pass the torch" to someone in the indies? Unless Douglas meant when he was in WCW.. as a Dynamic Dude.. yah, he really deserved "the torch" then. ;p
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 It is a little weird to see people arguing over who's better. HHH is not > Douglas. Douglas is not > HHH. Douglas = HHH
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 Why rip on Shane now? He's so far off the radar to matter these days. And I was a huge Shane mark from his ECW stuff. 93-99, his whole run was good (even the time he took off for WWF)
Guest El Satanico Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 I doubt even 1/4 of the crowd would care. You could also be talking about HHH there. For some reason they still seem to care about his theme music...but it's about it now.
Guest NoCalMike Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 There is no way marks are not going to cheer HHH's music. That is why it is so ridiculous that a heel has a "grand entrance" like that. For some reason I kind of feel that Triple H yearns to be the Austin/Rock type heel, that the fans love him despite being bad, however the fans don't really love or hate Triple H, but they LOVE his theme music.

Motorhead + Flashing Lights + roided up goon + water spit = cheers. Roided up goon by himself =
Guest NoCalMike Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 Perfect Stranger is a better song Hell yes it is.
Guest AndrewTS Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 Perfect Stranger is a better song I know. But does he get the same flashy intro? Does he spit water? No he does not.
