Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted May 3, 2003 I attended tonight's RAW House Show in Oshawa, and it ended up being pretty entertaining despite Jericho not being there. It was completely Clique-free which I was glad to see. RVD, Rico & Trish were all very appreciative of the fans in the parking lot, and it was interesting seeing Arn Anderson and Terry Taylor get cheered on by the Oshawa faithful. The others didn't do very much, although I was surprised to see Stacey leave with Trish & Jackie instead of Test. MATCH #1: Three Minute Warning (w/ Rico) vs. The Dudley Boyz Finkel announced that GM Steve Austin has re-instated the Dudleys. Presumably for this match, although I would count on seeing it actual happen on RAW in the near future. Basic comedy match opening tag match that occur often on these shows. The crowd is really into Rico at ringside. Dudleys hit the 3D on Jamal for the clean win. WINNERS: The Dudley Boyz MATCH #2: Rodney Mack (w/ Theodore Long) vs. Tommy Dreamer This was supposed to be Jeff Hardy, but he got fired. Boring Sunday Night Heat style match. Dreamer nails Mack with a bottle of Vanilla Coke at one point. Mack gets the pin with a running powerslam after Long interferes. WINNER: Rodney Mack MATCH #3: The Hurricane & Maven vs. Les Resistance The Frenchies cut an anti-Canadian promo before the match. Normally this wouldn't matter too much, but Southern Ontario is the Georgia of Canada and they don't exactly like Quebec too much here. Huge pop for Hurricane. The Frenchies used Ludvig Borga's old theme. Nice 10 minute match, and the crowd was really into Les Resistance's antics by the end. They are green, but they have potential. Les Resistance win with a double flapjack on Maven. WINNERS: Les Resistance MATCH #4 (Women's Title): Jazz (w/ Theodore Long) vs. Victoria vs. Jackie vs. Trish Stratus Trish gets the second loudest pop of the evening. Short but energetic, like most matches involving Trish, Jazz & Victoria these days. Trish cleans house, but is busy beating up Victoria and Jazz is able to sneak the pin on Jackie to retain. I got the impression that most of the crowd missed the finish. WINNER AND STILL WOMEN'S CHAMPION: Jazz MATCH #5: Spike Dudley vs. Christian Mixed heat for both guys, as half the crowd is booing Christian for being a heel and the other half is cheering him for being Canadian. He tries to turn the crowd against him, but doesn't succeed very well. Mediocre, like most Christian matches. Not actively bad, but it wasn't very good either. Christian wins clean with the Unprettier. WINNER: Christian -Intermission- MATCH #6 (World Tag Titles): RVD & Kane vs. Lance Storm & Chief Morley Unlike Christian, Storm & Morely have no trouble turning the crowd against them. Probably because they are facing RVD. Match of the show gets about 18 minutes. RVD & Kane hit their signature spots, and the Five Star on Morely finishes it. Oddly enough, the last live event I went to had Morely vs. Storm. WINNERS AND STILL WORLD TAG CHAMPIONS: RVD & Kane MATCH #7: Steven Richards vs. Rico Designed to take the crowd down before the main event. Rico controls the match, but misses a moonsault. Stevie Kick and a Double Arm DDT finish it. Rico grabs Charles Robinson's ass after the match. WINNER: Steven Richards MATCH #8 (Canada vs. USA): Test (w/ Stacey Keibler) vs. Scott Steiner Normally this would be a terrible match, but Whitby is Test's hometown, so the crowd was superhot and Test put in a very good effort for him. Steiner comes out and insults Canada, and tries to sing the Star Spangled Banner while getting booed out of the building. Steiner brags about how he is going to steal Stacey from Test. Test comes out to the hometown pop. They basically just suplex the hell out of each other for ten minutes, before Steiner decides to chase after Stacey and gets nailed by the Big Boot for the Test win. As a match it wasn't much, but it was entertaining. Steiner complains to the crowd some more after the match. Steiner really seems more comfortable playing the heel. WINNER: Test As a RAW I'm sure this would suck ass (minus the Tag Title match), but house shows have a more relaxed feel and allow the wrestlers to play to the crowd alot more. It made for a more enjoyable show than most TV tapings. Considering I got the tickets for free (ie. as a gift), it was well worth it. Biggest Pops 1. Test 2. Trish Stratus 3. RVD 4. Hurricane 5. Dudleys Most Heat 1. Scott Steiner 2. Rico 3. Les Resistance 4. Storm & Morely 5. Teddy Long

Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 3, 2003 U mean they couldn't Fly in Jericho from what HALF a mile across the road and give those paying Canucks (all 2000 of them) a proper Main eventer?
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted May 3, 2003 Well hometown heros always get the biggest pops, so don't be surprised.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted May 3, 2003 Jericho was supposed to be here, but they changed it at the last minute for some reason. The crowd wanted to see Test more than him anyways. Originally it was Jericho vs. Test and Steiner vs. Christian.
Guest ViciousFish Report post Posted May 3, 2003 Originally it was Jericho vs. Test and Steiner vs. Christian. Ahhh more WWE logic. Jericho and Christian are as JR would put it 'running buddies' but they fight each other on a house show to entertain 2000 canadians. Of course I could just be bitter because it seems Vince ain't coming out this direction like they have the past couple Mays

Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted May 3, 2003 I was surprised to see Stacey leave with Trish & Jackie instead of Test. Whoo Hooo! Maybe the break up of them on TV is because of a real life break up?! Be sad if she did really leave Test for Steiner.
Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Report post Posted May 3, 2003 Test got the biggest pop???Next thing you know , we are going to have Nash as RAW heavyweight champion.... i better take that back.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted May 3, 2003 A question.....you'd think with their house show business going down the shitter, WWE would send in as many main eventers to House Shows as they can. Why aren't they? Aw. Fuck me. This is the WWE we're talking about. I've answered my own question. Steiner v. Test? Yech.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted May 3, 2003 Its kinda sad when a Canada vs USA match in Canada is a match between Test and Steiner..

Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted May 4, 2003 So the French tag team's finisher is the same thing that the Dudleys have been using for years as a signature move, but never even came close to getting a win from it.... good idea.

Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted May 4, 2003 Ludvig Borga's theme?! BWAHAHA!! Finland? France? Eh, what's the difference? The Cliq and Goldberg don't do house shows, how shocking.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 4, 2003 Hell, When Jericho refuses to do your show (in his own Country) you know that they REALLY could care less about your podunk town... Fits that Test is from there though.
