Guest Trivia247 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 After the match, Brock took the mic and told us that he had a big surprise for the great fans of Quebec City: Rick "The Model" Martel came out and the crowd reaction was simply amazing. Rick thanked all the wrestlers for giving their 150%. He also thanked the WWE for all the great years he had. Brock gave him the WWE Championship title belt, which was very classy and respectful, but Martel seemed uncomfortable and very surprised and quickly gave it back to Lesnar without really posing with the belt.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 You attended this show? If so can you tell us the results and your thoughts. I'm surprised WWE would actually honour their past like that. I was always a fan of Martel. I always hated Tito, but I liked Martel.

I use to put in results and someone yelled at me on another forum for it that it wasn't a results forum but just to talk heh. I'll put up the full review including that section in a sec.
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Thanks to Jean Philippe Paré for the following: I attended the Smackdown brand house show in Quebec city, Canada. Pretty small crowd, 2000-3000. Here are the results: Spanky def. Crash w/ Shannon Moore Rhyno def. A-Train (huge pop for Rhyno) Matt Hardy w/Moore def. Noble Sean O'Haire def. Funaki (2nd best match of the night) Big Show def. Chris Benoit (both A-Train and Rhyno got in the ring after the match) FBI def. Tajiri & Rikishi After the match, Nunzio got the stink face and Rikishi, Tajiri and even the referee danced in the ring like there would be no tomorrow. Dawn Marie def. Nidia with special guest referee Funaki. The great Team Angle def. Los Guerreros in a pretty good match. After the match, Eddie and Chavo stole the title belts again. Brock def. the amazing John Cena. Before the match, Cena said he had prepared a rap but since people in Quebec City mostly speak only French we didn't deserve hearing it. He also said that he would do the same thing the Quebec Nordiques (NHL) did a few years ago: win the championship and get the hell out of Canada (they are now known as the Colorado Avalanche). The finish confused me. Brock F5'd Cena from nowhere and took his time before covering him, looking exhausted so I was expecting a kick out. It seems to me that Cena kicked out before the three count but the ref called for the bell. The 3 men in the ring looked confused. After the match, Brock took the mic and told us that he had a big surprise for the great fans of Quebec City: Rick "The Model" Martel came out and the crowd reaction was simply amazing. A good show, better than the last time they came in town. A small but hot crowd. Best performers were Rhyno, Benoit, Hardy, Funaki, Team angle, Chavo, Eddie and Cena. Rikishi should stop wrestling and concentrate on dancing. The crowd didn't care for his match but they popped like crazy for the ass shaking. Not me. I was just happy he kept his shirt on.
Guest edotherocket Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Martel was cool. He had a good run in the 1991 Rumble too. Tito was a moog. Fortunately, I think Martel beat him every time I saw them fight.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 I use to put in results and someone yelled at me on another forum for it that it wasn't a results forum but just to talk heh. Well, there are some assholes out there. Don't worry about posting this. Seems pretty good, aside from Show/Benoit. What a waste of great talent (not Show).
Guest TonyJaymzV1 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 whats with all tthe tito hate? his fued with Greg Valentine is one of my faves. Plus, he mainevented Survivor Series 90, did Martel? nope.
LooseCannon25 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.....tito's feud with with Randy Savage was one of my favorites ever. I remember one match in MSG he had him in a figure gour and Savage grabbed the ref and threw him on Tito resulting in a DQ. Anyway, back to Rick........The Model was cool, how did he look? Has he aged much?
Guest Lightning Flik Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Just one thing about the House show... Sean O'Haire and Funaki had the 2nd best match of the night? Seriously? Geez, maybe O'Haire ain't that bad, and it was all Rikishi's fault this past Backlash.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Martel is the king of Ryoal Rumbles.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 I was always a fan of Martel. I always hated Tito, but I liked Martel. I was exactly the same...I don't know how many times I made my little brother submit to the Boston Crab
Guest Downhome Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 I remember when he came to WCW, and when the annouced him as Rick Martel, the fans there didn't respond at all. All the while, I was marking my ass off. I found it very shocking they gave him the TV title when he showed up. I wanted to hurt the fans for not responding to him more than they did!
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Well he put on some awesoem matches with Saturn and booker T before having to retire.
Guest Dmann2000 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 whats with all tthe tito hate? his fued with Greg Valentine is one of my faves. Plus, he mainevented Survivor Series 90, did Martel? nope. Actually Martel DID Main Event Survivor Series 90. That was the year his whole team survived and they all advanced to the big final match.
Guest TonyJaymzV1 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Oh yeah forgot bought that. either way, Martel and Tito were some of my fav.s back in the day.
Guest KanadianKrusty Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 FUCK! I could've gone to that show!,I live like 15 minutes from there , but I thought it would suck, I'll regret this for a LONG time, Martel is one of my all-time favorites. note to self: never EVER miss a house show again
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 whats with all tthe tito hate? his fued with Greg Valentine is one of my faves. Plus, he mainevented Survivor Series 90, did Martel? nope. I started watching during the Strike Force period.
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Tito you gotta admit was a classic company man, hanging in the WWF from early 80's to 93 and mostly putting guys over and getting few title runs for rewards.

Guest dreamer420 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 That was pretty nice to hear about. Martel was a pretty loyal employee to the WWF so it was nice to see that he is still on good terms.
Guest RepoMan Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 He also said that he would do the same thing the Quebec Nordiques (NHL) did a few years ago: win the championship and get the hell out of Canada (they are now known as the Colorado Avalanche). Actually they got the hell out of Canada and they won the title. Wouldn't 49% of the crowd want to get out of Canada anyways?
