Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted May 11, 2003 Since no one got it, the first walk off home run in World Series history was hit by none other than Dusty Rhodes, in game 1 of the '54 series. No kidding, there was a baseball player for the Giants by that name. I think it gets overlooked because another WS moment occured the same game. Willie Mays caught a fly ball or something like that. Rhodes put on probably the best pinch-hitting performance of all time in the '54 series. For the trivia part of the question, Rhodes pinch-hit three times for the same player. Name that player.
