To the WWF Apologists

Recommended Posts

I don't know why all the apologists think its a writing problem. The problem lies in company philosophy - the writers, from what I have heard, work their asses off to produce storylines, it's just they get shot down because it doesn't conform to 'certain peoples' view of what the company is and what the fans want. Of course, they're still morons, but I wouldn't call them lazy morons. I mean, you can't just lay back and suck like that. That kind of stupidity must be an active, on-going, process.

Good point..............Maybe most of the writers ideas, which are good, are rejected. I swear this company is gonna go down if Vince doesnt step down.....he's completely lost touch with his audience and what they want

I get why they're doing it - they are stupid.

If there was a single good idea out of the WWE RAW braintrust I might give them some slack. But there is nothing there... there's not a single angle that is the least bit interesting in the slightest. There's not even good moments ... they are all to freaking blame. From the workers to the writers to the bookers and everyone in between.

Vince is perfectly intouch with his audience...

...It's a damn shame that audience is in 1999 and left a long time ago.

"Yeah, but how about Stone Cold, Bret Hart, HBK, Kurt angle"

He went to them eventually in those names mentioned, but it was during safer times in company history. Austin didn't get the title until hosses like Sid and Undertaker got runs, for example. Backtracking to 96, Michaels was losing steam on the face run as champ, and out of nowhere Vince hotshots it on Sid. And then he does it AGAIN for no logical reason 4 months later.

Bullshit--Vince only decided to go with smaller guys because of the steroid trials, not because it was during "safer" times. He couldn't push more roided up mongoloids right after that.

Once he felt the heat was off, he was already having the Clique in his ear, so HBK wasn't ever far away from the main event until he retired. Bret was often sidetracked into midcard fueds or worse--Yankem and Hakushi anyone?

As far as Im concerned, the 15 minute fight between Nash and HHH might not have been the greatest thing in the world, but considering the alternative of having a shorter fight so they could: A)run more commercials B ) Rodney Mack vs a whiteboy jobber or C ) More Austin/Bischoff hillarity, I can deal with the 15 minute fight. Sure it was awful, sure it went 14 minutes and 59 seconds too long, but I don't think that they could have filled that time any better with anything else.

Booker T vs Lance Storm could of lasted longer than 2 minutes

Goldust or Hurricane could of had a match

Austin could of walked around the arena screwing up Bischoff's plans

They could have fit in 2 matches in that time:

1) Book vs. either Jamal or Rosy to get revenge from the previous week

2) Storm vs. Rico (or somebody like that) to throw a bone to the Canadian crowd

Also, I'd like to see someone defend the role of Chris Jericho: Jobber to the Old Broken-Down Stars of Yesterday (JTTOBDSOY)

Why does everyone think they're building to Benoit/Brock? It doesn't seem like it at all...

Because Brock hasn't faced Benoit yet.

Of course, that doesn't mean that there will be this huge program amounting to a huge match at Summerslam. This is Benoit. This is the WWE. Do the math.

It's the common comeback for anyone pro WWE. He's just pointing it out again is all...because he's right. That is pretty much the only comeback that gets used when wrestling is down.

Being an ass wasn't nessesary. I like watching Smackdown on Thursdays and don't read the spoilers. If there are going to be spoilers, a warning should be issued. That's all I was saying.

On the Nash/HHH segment: easily one of the worst of all time.

On this topic in general: I don't see how this is any different than Danndogg calling out people for not liking WWE.

Because the gap between "what it is" and "it could be worse" is very small. Meanwhile, the gap between "what it is" and "it could be better" is so much more bigger.

This is the WWE. The biggest Wrestling company in the world. One of the best rosters in the history of wrestling. They have some of the greatest minds in the business working for them. They have enough money to waste on useless things like the elimination chamber - they can get any talent they want. What they *could* give you and what they *do* give you are MILES apart.

"It could be worse" is something people who lose limbs say, "Hey, I lost my leg, but at least I didn't lose em both! At least I have my arms! At least I am not dead!"

It's like someone is pissing on you and you're saying "at least it's not cold".

C'mon. You should have already known that Big Show vs. Benoit was going to occur just by using logic and that Big Show was going to go over.

Why should I "it could be worse" something that's supposed to be entertaining? What good does that do me? It's a product you spend time and money on. What is "it could be worse" supposed to do for me? Yeah, Nash/HHH is not as bad as setting my head on fire, but that doesn't improve the fact that Nash/HHH is 35 dollars.

So? I still don't want to see spoilers in a thread that isn't about spoilers.

They're not really spoilers if you expect it, though. The whole purpose of the spoiler tag is to prevent something being spoiled for another. I don't really see how this case fits. It's almost like saying "HHH and Nash take up way too much time on RAW and Jericho dies to put Nash over"... is that a spoiler? It's going to happen, no doubt... but will that spoil the show for anyone? I doubt it.

I'm just saying that there's nothing wrong with watching something because it could be worse than it is right now. People just have different breaking points, and some are lower than others.

That's pretty much all I want to look forward to, and if it doesn't happen then I can finally say: Fuck WWE - something I've been trying not to say for a year.

Anyways, I really, really question the motivation of those ordering Judgment Day. At least with Backlash it had Goldberg's first match. With Wrestlemania - it IS the flagship PPV and that's a selling point in itself. No Way Out had the rematch of Hogan/Rock which affected a lot of people. I see nothing - NOTHING - in Judgment Day's marquee matches that is supposed to entice people to order. I really cannot wait for May 18th to come and go.

I think there is something very wrong with that because as long as (some) fans are willing to take shit, smile, and say "it could be worse" then the WWE will continue to give you shit.
