Guest Patorick Report post Posted May 8, 2003 I'm surprised nobody else has posted this... More Details On Why Nathan Jones Was Left Out Of WM Match Posted By Widro on 05.08.03 Practice did not make perfect for the Colossus of Boggo Road The Wrestlemania match between the teams of The Undertaker and Nathan Jones and The Big Show and Albert was changed to a pseudo-handicap match right before the PPV. Apparently all four men had gone to the Undertaker’s ranch to practice the match, but even with the practice, Jones couldn’t get it right. There is talk of sending Jones to OVW for a while. Jim Ross has gotten some heat for the signing, because he was one of the only officials to really push for WWE to sign Jones. credit: Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter Wonder why they even bothered practicing? LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2003 its thanks to good ol JR that we have Nathan Jones, A-Train, and other hosses stinking up the tv. I'm glad he is being replced as head of talent. Maybe we'll see signing of some good workers and not hoss heaven. He sucks as an announcer too by the way. Anyway, back to topic. Nathan Jones needs to go, and go now. He sucks in the ring, he always will and he has a bad attitude and isnt willing to learn. Send him to OVW and if he doesnt get it shitcan him.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted May 8, 2003 heh....now this is interesting.. What this also could mean that JR feeling that he failed the business because of the Constant Force into Pushing Nathan Jones to the WWE when he wasn't nearly Ready Has Shown JR's Judgement in Talent Relations to be Flawed His pushing of the Bigger than Life wrestlers with Below average ability are now coming to Haunt JR. Especially in the case of Nathan Jones He was totally unprepared for the WWA for Christ sakes, and Saddling him up with the Undertaker to give Nathan any kind of visible Crediblity only Drains Credibility from the Taker. JR realizes that he made a BIG error that is not easily correctable.. and maybe thats why he is slowly but surely Withdrawing from most of his Administration positions including the VP of Talent Relations
Guest Sakura Report post Posted May 8, 2003 This just shows how pathetic and disorganized the WWE is. How could they hire someone and NOT realize how bad he is before putting him in a program with Undertaker for Wrestlemania? Time and time again we're(the net crowd) right about this stuff. And time and time again ass clowns like Bradshaw and Crips talk about how we "think we know everything" and how we're just marks.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted May 8, 2003 And yet I look back at "Beyond The MaT" and just TRY TRY TRY to figure out how in the hell they hired this fuck, seemingly without a tryout match, but didn't give Michael Modest a chance? :shakes head: for shame.. Guest Breetai Report post Posted May 8, 2003 Y'know, I don't even watch American wrestling for the wrestling anymore. I just watch it to see what boneheaded mistake Vinnie is going to come up with next. This is the World Trainwreck Federation, and the backstage shit is facinating. Guest jester Report post Posted May 8, 2003 Jim Ross has gotten some heat for the signing, because he was one of the only officials to really push for WWE to sign Jones. Ol Jimmy gets mighty bitchy if fans don't accept the goods they're selling. Remember all the defensiveness and potshots at the fans when the turned on Steiner? It's too bad he's not commenting on Smackdown, just to hear him justify the presence of Jones. "You really have to see him live to get a sense of his height and amazing suckitude, blah blah blah..." Guest PencilJobber Report post Posted May 8, 2003 When guys like Nathan Jones can get to the top company in the world and guys 3 times as talented as him but only 5 foot something can't it just shows how fucked up it is there are so many talented small guys around but they always get over looked because they don't have "The Look" then wrestling is destined to become boring when they keep pushing guys like Albert,Jones and other Big guys who can not string together 3 moves and they continue to commentate on them like they are fucking gods who are un-beatable and so bad and shit it just bores people away from the product in my view. If you have a choice of 2 giants fighting or 2 little guys that can blow fans away with great matches and stunning moves then the choice should always be the superior in ring product but the WWE always choice 2 lumbering embarassing performers who are big that bore us for an hour a week then the show just looks bad they can kill a crowd in 2 seconds flat and whatever comes after will have to be fucking special to get them going again its completly counter-productive and destroys any momentum the other guys are able to get. J.R. is the biggest problem with this he loves guys like Bradshaw,Jones and other lumbering guys and pushes them to the moon everytime they wrestle but guys like Storm and Christian get treated as little mistakes with no talent. Guest My Eyebrow is on fire Report post Posted May 8, 2003 You know what..I don't know whether it's just me or not. But, Brock Lesnar draws me to PPVs and viewing because of his cool ass build and look. I've heard a lot of marks totally mark out when they simply see Brock. I think size and a great look is certainly a factor in a wrestler's drawing power. Not to say Nathan Jones is a draw - but I think a few moderately to below-averagely talented Hosses in a fed with enough wrestlers to carry them are vital for mass appeal. Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted May 8, 2003 Good riddance for Jones. He should really work on his game in OVW. Who is going to be the new head of talent for VInce? Ten bucks says a guy closely associated to the Kliq.
Guest notJames Report post Posted May 8, 2003 I think Johnny Ace is positioned to take over Talent Relations.
LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2003 Yeah, but Brock LEsnar actually has ABILITY, and a great wrestling background. Nathan Jones can't even execute a spin kick without missing it or looking totally lost. You can't compare the two. I think Johnny Ace is the new Head of Talent. Hopefully, this will be a good thing as Hoss Ross can't push for A-Train, STeiner, Jones, Batista anymore
Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted May 8, 2003 Yeah, Johnny Ace can just push for them to hire his bro Animal and bring back the LOD. I thought the whole angle with Mr. America being signed without even being seen by Steph insanely stupid. But considering someone like Jones got signed you have to wonder if that actually mirrors their daily business practices.
Guest Jack Potts Report post Posted May 8, 2003 Although there are other factors contributing to viewer malaise, I think that Brock Lesnar has been a double-edged sword for WWE. Frankly, Brock Lesnar blew the curve for "hosses." Before he arrived, viewers expected big men matches to feature a couple power moves and clotheslines. That would have been suffiecient to pop a crowd, because they didn't think a hoss was capable of anything more. Brock has shown them that a big man can be agile, quick, AND wrestle. His power moves are also a lot more impressive than the typical big man. Remember his match against Randy Orton on Smackdown? When Orton went for a flying crossbody block from the top rope, Lesnar caught him, rolled backwards with the impact, rose to his feet while still holding Orton, and hoisted Randy onto his shoulders for the F-5, all in one quick, fluid motion! It was incredible to see! Lesnar's got the look and the talent that has ruined audiences for the plodding big-man style. So, I don't mind the "hosses," but they'd better be able to deliver in the ring.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted May 8, 2003 Wow, what a big news story: JR is not only a hoss lover, but a complete fucking idiot. If you're in your late 30's and you suck too much for WWE to put you in a match, RETIRE!
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2003 If Brock can just freakin' improve on the mic, I will have no problems with him whatsoever. I mean, wow - a TALENTED hoss! Who'd have thought that was possible? And I find it hilarious that even with PRACTICE, Nathan Jones didn't know how to BLOODY WRESTLE A COMPLETELY CHOREOGRAPHED MATCH. It's not like they were just calling spots...

Even HOGAN AND WARRIOR were able to have a good match when it was choreographed. GOLDBERG had a GREAT match with DDP when it was choreographed. Jones can't even get an ACCEPTABLE match when choreographed. Fuck, even Torrie Wilson can do that.

LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2003 I think it's good that some of his personality is starting to shine now. Like walking to the ring with a smile on his face pointing to the title. I think he would be good in a cocky, yet monster role. Also, when i saw that F-5 on Randy Orton after the flying body press i was amazed. That was one of the most impressiv ethings i've ever seen in a ring. This guys gonna be huge Hopefully, Brock's ringowrk at agility will be a testament in the future for big guys in the business....they would have to also be quick, and talented......wishful thinking i know

He's one of the top "hosses" in the company. to be honest...he's starting to grow on me. A-Train's moveset isnt that bad, especially for a hoss. I can deal with him as long as he's not being pushed to main events.
