OVW TV tapings report

May 7, 2003

Jeffersonville, Ind.

Report by Aaron "Lurch" Wilson

(1) Nova & Chris Cage defeated Derrick King & Justin Starr. Recap of the OVW Title match from last week, pitting Doug Basham against fellow Revolution member Rob Conway. Damaja of the Revolution was the referee. Clips point out that Damaja didn't exactly "officiate" the match like a normal ref, but did interfere with the two men in the match. The match ended as Damaja Brain Damajed Doug Basham, but didn't count Conway's pinfall. He then Brain Damajed Rob Conway and placed Basham on top of Conway for the three count.

Clips air from the locker room showing Doug Basham and Nikita discussing tonight's OVW Title match. The match booked for tonight is Doug Basham vs. Damaja in a No DQ match for the OVW Title, with Rob Conway as the referee. Basham tells Nikita that he has a special surprise for the match tonight.

Camera cuts to Damaja and Jackie Gayda talking in the locker room. Gayda questions Damaja on allowing Conway to be the referee. Damaja said that he allowed to have Conway as the referee so he could have the No DQ rule in the match, which will give him the "edge that he needs." He also told Gayda that he doesn't need her out there screwing things up tonight, and to stay in the locker room.

OVW Heavyweight Title match - NO DQ

(2) Doug Basham defeated Damaja as Jackie Gayda threw Rob Conway's loaded glove to Basham in a no-DQ OVW Hvt. Title match. Clips aired showing The Revolution running out of Davis Arena through the back door. The Revolution jumped in a car just before Damaja could catch them.

Matt and John, the Tough Enough 3 winners are shown collecting donations for the WHAS Crusade for Children.

Clips from last week's match pitting Mark Magnus & Johnny Jeter vs. Johnny Spade & Orlando Jordan aired. Clips pointed out that Basham took out Jeter during the match throwing him head first into the post. Afterwards, Johnny Jeter was seen in a backstage interview. Jeter told Basham that at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom on 5/30 Jeter will have Scott Steiner as his partner, and that on that date Basham will understand the meaning of an "eye for an eye" as the cameras faded showing Jeter's black eye.

Damaja interrupts Jim Cornette hyping up the Six Flags show and informs that crowd that as or right now the Damaja is out of the Revolution.

(3) Linda Miles & Gail Kim defeated Passion & Molly Holly. Cornette towards end of the match: "Well about right now Jim Ross would be talking about Bowling Shoes."

Clips aired highlighting the fact that Mark Jindrak has replaced Sean O'Haire as the Head of Security for Bolin Services

(4) Mark Jindrak & Lance Cade & Rene Dupree (w/Kenny Bolin) & Maurice defeated Faarooq & Bradshaw & Billy Gunn.

Steiner is working OVW shows? Delicious......

And? It's not like he's getting a de-push, quite a few WWE upper midcarders appear on OVW once in a while. Benoit and Kane appeared on one show...

But weren't Kane and Benoit on shows when they were coming back from injuries?

Nope, they just worked matches. Angle's done the same thing. Who's Passion from the divas match?? Pics anybody? Good to see Gail Kim getting some work and, depending on how you look at it, good to see Billy & APA into it. I'm not a big fan of Billy really, but good to see he's fit again, and I'm a mark for APA, as a team, not individuals

Maybe they sent Steiner down to learn to wrestle. Of cournse alot of people they bring form there can't wrestle so I doubt it could help.

I don't think it's a case where Steiner can't wrestle. He was awesome in the early nineties. Its the broken down body that won't allow him to even think about attempting, say, a frankensteiner. How unfortunate, ya know.

lmao...if you saw the Scott Steiner of the late 80's early 90's, he was one of the best wrestlers around. It's not that that's the problem, it's age and injuries.

Is this their gimmick or something? Overly nice guys...that'd be such a cool gimmick. Matt could turn on John for 'stealing from the tin'.

You forgot the extra 40 pounds of "water weight" he's put on since his biceps injury in 1992. ;)

I know Damaja was supposed to have a spot in the Rumble but he got pulled at the last minute. Why? Does he suck or what? And what sort of style does he work? How about Basham? They both seem like they've been in the OVW for a long, long time.

They dropped him because they didn't want to debut him yet...

It's because he has a different look than the A&F mannequin look that Orton, Cena, etc have.

i.e. "not marketable"
