Kurt Angle Mark Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Live and also on the PWtorch newsletter, as of right now the scheduled main event for Vengeance is going to be Angle/Brock II. However PWtorch also said that just like Goldberg/HHH it may be saved for Summerslam. I don't know, I think this is a little to early to be having the rematch. I say they should meet at Survivor Series and then have the rubber match at Wrestlemania 20. Let Benoit feud with Brock during the summer.
Mecha Mummy Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Angle/Brock II? Already? Uhm, I dunno. The match would be good, but another one so quick?
Guest EternallyLazy Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Angle/Brock II? Already? Uhm, I dunno. The match would be good, but another one so quick? I'd go with another Benoit/Angle match with the winner to face Brock at SS... Benoit wins of course, gets his program with Brock, and then hopefully we see Angle/Brock II at WM XX
Guest EternallyLazy Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 I think it would be awesome if the creative team watched the awesome Ultimate Warrior/Randy Savage/Ric Flair & Perfect storyline from the 90's and took notes... I'd love to see a Lesnar/Benoit face vs. face angle with Kurt playing mind games with both of them
King Cucaracha Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Angle/Brock II? Already? Uhm, I dunno. The match would be good, but another one so quick? Especially after the WM handshake...Angle might be getting a lot more face pops when he gets back. I guess they want to try a get some buyrates for Vengeance, after Wrestlemania and Backlash's dissapointments.
moral suasion Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Angle/Brock II sounds perfect to me. Angle should win it back at Vengeance and then job it to Chris Benoit somewhere down the line. Brock is doing nothing as the champ and when Benoit finally wins the strap, he should win it from Kurt Angle due to how much history they have together. And thier matches kick ass.
Guest Boomer Sprinklespax Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Thank God for this if it is true. I think that doing this match so quickly on PPV is a good idea, as the brand specific PPV's will need something big to sell them, ala Brock/Angle II or TLC 5 or something. I think this will make marks and smarks alike happy, which is a good thing because those of us who are inching closer and closer every day to abandoning the product altogether really need a reason to keep watching. For me, having the Brock/Angle program restart quickly will do just that, and I'll probably buy the PPV based on that match alone if it turns out to be scheduled.
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Too soon. If Angle's coming back as a face, I say hold off on the Angle/Brock rematch for a while. I would turn Benoit and go with Benoit/Brock and Angle/Cena.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Brock is doing nothing because he doesn't have any opponents. Even Taker isn't around. You get him in there with Angle or Benoit and things will change. The problem is if you do those feuds too soon, you basically have to take the title off of him and he would like like a chump for losing the title two months after getting it. In an ideal world, there would be no split and he would be able to fight the RAW guys. But in the real world if that were ever to happen, HHH would immediately pull a power play to get the title. Brock/Show is much more promising than Brock/Nash or Brock/HHH. That said, I would save Brock/Angle II for sometime down the road and do Brock/Benoit first (but have Brock win). I would then have Angle go over Brock at Summerslam (or No Mercy if you want time to do the feud), and then job the title to Benoit at Wrestlemania XX.

But I really want to see a three way dance involving Brock, Angle, and Benoit. I think that could be masterful. *crosses fingers for this to occur at Wrestlemania XX*
Guest Galactic Gigolo Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 I think it would be awesome if the creative team watched the awesome Ultimate Warrior/Randy Savage/Ric Flair & Perfect storyline from the 90's and took notes... I'd love to see a Lesnar/Benoit face vs. face angle with Kurt playing mind games with both of them Sadly, since the main events of half the TV programs in the past years have been Heel in feud/other top heel vs. Face in feud/other top face, fans have been adjusted to believe that tag main events are crap and they constantly want matches where its one on one, or three-way, four-way, etc.
Guest Choken One Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Vengence is too early for Lesnar/ Angle II. I still stick to my original Idea... After Cena Squashes Spanky at Judgement Day, Cena starts insulting Kurt Angle, Mocking his cry baby antics and breaking his neck and shit... Do this for all off June...(U create the Austin/Hart return angle of 1996)...Angle is signed to a Match (but doesn't appear until Vengence)...Angle shows up and takes Cena to a new level...He goes over but not before elvating Cena in the process. Meanwhile...Lesnar and Benoit begin thier respect program... They do a couple tag teams AND SHOW thier friendship... Stephanie decides to have an #1 contender 4 Way Dance between Benoit, TBS, Eddy and Rhyno. Benoit goes over and Lesnar makes sure to bring up the fact Benoit never managed to win the title... Then VOILA You got Lesnar/Benoit and Angle/Cena for Vegence... You re-create the Warrior/Savage/Flair&Henning angle from 1992... Leading to A Three Way Dance between the three... Angle *reingures* his neck and Benoit gets the Crossface on him to win it... Also, Cena fresh off his MAJOR elevation at Vengence goes over Taker and the fans TURN him... and That's where I stop...
Guest wwF1587 Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 wait a minute... if lesner/angle II is the main event for Vengence... you mean i dont get the much anticipated ATrain/Brock match... oh damn...

Yeah, because Benoit is so over(note the sarcasm). Benoit will never be a TIPPETY TOP GUY. He just doesn't have it and cannot be marketed as such because it will bomb. When was Benoit over the most? Yeah, when Shane McMahon was his manager. The future of Smackdown and WWE is Lesnar, Cena, Team Angle, Matt Hardy, Chris Jericho, Edge, and RVD. That is your next group of top guys. That is who you build around and put over at a Wrestlemania. Chris Benoit is simply the guy that gets a top program once in a while with the top guy but isn't(and never will be) the top guy himself that carries the program(just like Owen Hart and the British Bulldog) Put the belt on Benoit at Wrestlemania when Lesnar is 10 years younger and is the future. HA!!
Guest the pinjockey Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Yes lord knows we can't have a wrestler who can get a standing ovation due to his wrestling ability in a match he lost in a position to draw. He has no idea how to get the fans to react to anything. Note the sarcasm.

Guest snuffbox Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 any worker who can draw a standing ovation for a job should be pushed to the moon... just not int the awawwe
Guest EternallyLazy Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 I've read of two other standing ovations for Benoit just recently... Benoit is as over now as he's ever been... now is the perfect time to build to the BIG win, hopefully at SummerSlam
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 I've read of two other standing ovations for Benoit just recently... They don't count. He should have ovations every week if he was that over. But he doesn't, thus it negates the ones he's had so far this year. (Note, the above is only a slight exaggeration from what I've read)
Guest HartFan86 Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 I'll never forget being one of the people clapping for Benoit at the Rumble. They have fucking dropped the ball with him because he easily could of been pushed even further to the sky and drawn HUGE $$$. He was easily the most over babyface at the end of that night, and it seems like the next SD they fucked him over.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Tsk. He had to take a backseat to Angle/Lesnar back then, and it seems it will happen again. Whatever.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 It's great how people on this board think the WWE is going to do anything good with Chris Benoit and the title... just great... not going to happen; but it's great none-the-less. Unfounded Optimism is always refreshing. To the WWE, Benoit is just enhancement talent.

Cena needs another 4-5 months in the midcard. Backlash was a disaster. Bring on Angle/Lesnar II~!
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 They should have turned Rhyno heel, not Benoit. Do a Rhyno/Benoit feud, have Rhyno go over him (Benoit's a lost cause, much like Jericho), and then move on to Brock. But it's too late for that. Now both Rhyno and Benoit are doing *nothing*.
Guest Anglesault Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 I think they are doing this to Rhyno to screw with Heyman.
Guest Cover of Darkness Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Brock is doing nothing as the champ and when Benoit finally wins the strap, he should win it from Kurt Angle due to how much history they have together. Brock's reign is going to heat up when Heyman comes back. Something tells me that these two will eventually build a feud of Austin/McMahon proportions. They have history, Heyman can work the stick and Brock is improving rapidly at mic work, both guys are over like mofos. When Heyman reforms his stable, then we'll see some action, right now Brock is carrying SD!'s main event scene all alone.
Guest Cover of Darkness Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Heymans coming back? He said he just wants to lose weight first.
Guest Anglesault Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 We don't need another Austin-McMahon. Have a feud between wrestlers.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 Ok, no, seriously... Heymans coming back? I mean, what was said and what is are two different things. Heyman had his hand in a couple of cookie jars before he left and they had him leave with no explanation and everything and everyone went on like nothing happened (classic WWE)... I doubt he'll be coming back anytime soon. Though I *would* like to see Angle return, upstage Lesnar, Lesnar get jealous and go back to Heyman to deal with the threat.
