I don't really think anyone will properly benefit from getting the IC belt since I honestly can't imagine when a non-Clique member will given a run with the World Heavyweight title. So any upward mobility gained from having a run with the IC belt will ultimately be for nothing. And as has been stated before, the IC belt wasn't particularly valuable when it went away and I can't see it gaining much value now that it's back (especially on RAW). *Ideally* though, it could be contested by decent RAW wrestlers in 15-20 minute matches as a nice alternate to the World title belt and gain more credbility than the HHH Ego belt. If HHH/Shawn/Nash/Goldberg are the only people in the title picture, I think Jericho, RVD, Booker and friends feuding over the IC title could elevate its importance above the World title since they don't get their matches booed out the building or get 'boring' chants. RVD has that connection with the fans and, until recently, could bring something half-decent to the ring but he can't speak for shit and they need someone who can put the belt over in interviews as well as in the ring. So with this in mind, it's either RVD (and finally have Kane and RVD break up) or Christian (who perhaps finally will get some more air time for promos). Booker....is he even ready to compete at a PPV? The guy is in the hospital, so I dunno if I would put a belt on him right now. I'd put it on RVD. First, they shouldn't have even taken it off him to begin with last year, since after he lost it to Jericho (then to Kane, then the HHH killing) the belt became nothing. Anyone who recalls RVD in ECW knows that his best stuff was when he was a combo champion: held the TV title and the tag belts with Sabu. Have RVD become incredibly cocky, say he has to carry "all 3 belts and his partner too" and become a pseudo heel while maintaining his fan support. Guys like Jericho & Booker should be fighting for the World Title, not this belt. Being IC Champ would only hurt the move up, like in 2001 when Jericho won the IC Belt and wasn't worth dick until October when he started feuding with Rock. Guest treble charged Report post Posted May 14, 2003 My plan would have been to keep HBK off TV until the show and have him be a surprise entrant in the battle royal and win it, eliminating Jericho last. This gives the title some prestige, IMO, and Jericho can win the blow-off to their feud at Bad Blood and move on to feud with someone like the Hurricane, adding value to the title and elevating Helms both at the same time. It makes absolutely perfect sense to me. In WCW, right before they gave Goldberg the World Title, he won the US strap and went into the title match AS the US champion. I'll predict it right now... ...somehow, Goldberg wins the IC belt, and once again goes into the World Championship match, as the second most important champion, the IC champion. This would not only make the IC belt look like the stepping stone to the main title, as it once was, but would also possibly help whoever holds it after Goldberg (which obviously would be in a tourny of some sort). Who should win: Virtually everyone who a) is NOT a member of the Cliq, or b) will not be used as a transitional champ in order to put the belt on a member of the Cliq OR Goldberg (thus instantly discrediting the title).
