Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Vocalist Phil Anselmo says that he is done with PANTERA and he intends to focus all his time and energy on SUPERJOINT RITUAL. "There was a lot of business with Warner Bros. and this and that DOWN and PANTERA and this and that, and etc. etc." Anselmo was quoted as saying by MetalIndex.com. "Whatever. Pretty much what I'm doing here is I'm sticking with SUPERJOINT, and I'm not doing fuckin' anything else. This is where I'm most comfortable and this it the type of music that I wanna do, you know?" Anselmo says that he is proud of what PANTERA achieved and is also proud that they pulled the plug rather than faded away. "If you think about it, PANTERA never went away until we personally said, 'Fuck it'." Asked if he sees patching up differences and rejoining DOWN or PANTERA, Anselmo said, "Never say never... [but] not right now." SUPERJOINT RITUAL's sophomore album, "A Lethal Dose Of American Hatred", is due on July 22 through Sanctuary Records Credit: Metal-Sludge.com http://www.metal-sludge.com/RandomNews5-15-03.htm If this is old news, then I'm sorry. Anyway, what style is "SUPERJOINT RITUAL?"
Guest gangsteruwa Report post Posted May 15, 2003 If this is old news, I haven't heard it. I don't know if it's "them" calling it quits as much as it is Anselmo saying so. I remember reading a letter that DImebag wrote saying he still wanted to continue with Pantera. Whatever though, their last album was kind of "meh." Better now than when they are extremely stale. I like Superjoint Ritual, but they aren't anything ground breaking. The are kind of a mixture of oldschool hardcore and thrash. Basically they sound like Pantera without the groove and solos. Guest Lethargic Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Anyway, what style is "SUPERJOINT RITUAL?" Total and complete crap. They play real fast for 2 minutes over and over and over again. It's good for about the first 3 songs but then you realize that every single song is EXACTLY the same. And I don't mean like Ramones songs. I don't mean how pop punk always sounds similar. I mean you can really truly tell no difference at all between one song and the next. It was one of the worst CDs I've ever heard in my life. I hated it so much that I destroyed it instead of re-selling it. I got my money's worth out of it by smashing it to pieces and burning it.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted May 16, 2003 he should have sticked with Down if anything...
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 16, 2003 Hasn't he said something like this every year for the last several years?
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted May 16, 2003 This is for the better, trust me. Pantera's last album was absolutely horrific, and part of a decline in quality over the past two releases, another album was destined to suck ass. Phil's spread pretty thin, everyone else is happy to be rich and drunk... bad mojo. Also, although I don't hate the Superjoint album as much as Lethargic, it is indeed really fucking boring. It's almost like Anselmo's got a list of shit to do, and he's crossing items off... 1. Get stinking rich off Pantera: check 2. Get some credit and exposure for Down.: check 3. Do another band for shits and giggles, make a little extra cash..: in progress.

So yo utook the album title literally, eh Lethargic? You used it once and destroyed it, which is for the better.
Guest Steviekick Report post Posted May 16, 2003 I thought the Superjoint ritual was decent. I still like Down better. But Superjoint has Hank Williams III in it.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted May 16, 2003 Down's Nola is far and away the best thing Phil Anselmo's ever been a part of. Superjoint ranks just about on par with Reinventing the Steel
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted May 17, 2003 I thought the Superjoint ritual was decent. I still like Down better. But Superjoint has Hank Williams III in it. That was the reason I bought it too. I've been a fan of Shelton's music for years. Since he was just in a bunch of cheap ass punk bands around here. I remember he showed up stoned one night and fired his whole band on stage. That was funny. When he became "Hank" so he could finally make money I didn't know what to expect but he blew me away. But I think he's really gone down hill this last year with pretty much his entire band quiting over that time period and getting replaced by a bunch of generic guys that don't really add much.
