I don't shit on it, but I definitely see GLARING problems with it that really hamper my enjoyment of it. Someone said that Kurt Angle vs. The Rock from No Mercy 2001 would be his number 5 match, but I disagree with that one. Anyways I just wacthed Austin/Angle and in hindsight I love the ending. It makes sense in context the match and the storyline and probably the best way to end that match. Plus seeing austin whip Kurt into the post 6 times in a row is priceless. So: 1. Austin/Angle - SS01 2. Angle/Benoit - RR03 3. Angle & Benoit/Rey & Edge - No Mercy 4. Angle/Benoit - WMX7 5. Well, like God the Dog said, Shane's wrestling holds for one. The anklelock and sharpshooter were both poorly applied. However, that's not the GLARING problem that I have with it. Shane McMahon is just a regular guy, not a professionally trained wrestler and has never been promoted as so. Kurt Angle is a legitimate Olympic Gold Medalist and NCAA Champion. At NO point in the match should Shane have outwrestled Angle. He should have ONLY been using weapon or high flying related offense. The poorly applied wrestling holds and the fact that Angle sold the hell out of them instead of escaping immediately bothers me. The same goes for the suplex in the aisleway where Shane blocks a vertical suplex attempt and suplexes Angle instead (injuring Angle's tailbone in the process). Shane is nowhere near as strong as Angle or as astute in performing suplexes. The move should never have taken place. Dames Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted June 18, 2003 Angle's best match was easily against Benoit @ Rumble, and was easily the best match I've ever seen live and in person. I know that you guys say Austin/Angle was pretty emotional, but Benoit/Angle was pretty fucking emotional as well. I was jumping up and down the last 10 minutes of the match. I'll never forget everyone yelling "TAP!!!" when Benoit had Angle in the Crossface for the last time, and Angle's hand was going to tap. They had the crowd on the EDGE of their seats. The ending is one of the greatest endings I've ever seen, too. And not to mention the unreal standing ovation. Although I agree that Angle should have been able to outwrestler/outpower Shane more than he did, it was just so brutal not to love. At the end of the match, it felt like both guy beat the absolute shit out of eachother and gave everything they had. 6) Angle vs Benoit (Unforgiven 02) 5) Angle vs Benoit (WM 17) 4) Angle vs Austin (SS 01)~ My non wrestling fan friend was sooo into this match. I loved every minute, and the ending wasn't all THAT bad. 3)Angle vs Benoit (Raw Cage)~ my 2nd fav. WWF Cage Match 2) Angle & Benoit vs Rey & Eddy (NM 02) 1) Angle vs Benoit (RR 03)~ Almost everyone knew who would win, but they still made you think Benoit had a chance to win the belt.
