Most Legendary Multiplayer Game?

Either Mario Kart or GoldenEye. If it wasn't for those games my GPA would have been higher than it was.

Choosing between those games is like choosing between my children if I had any. So many great memories emanate from those two dusty cartridges. Fights, red turtle shells, License to Kill, f'ing with Lakitu's mind by driving backwards; using a mushroom on the boost ramp on the last track on Mushroom circuit, camping out with the sniper rifle and picking off unsuspecting passery-bys.

Those games should be coated in gold and enshrined in the Smithsonian. Enough verbal masturbation, which multiplayer games would you take a bullet for?

Going to go with Goldeneye.. god, did that own.

Definitely Goldeneye. That game was one of the reasons to own a N64. I also like the Mario Kart series, it's probably my favorite driving game to play with others cause it's a pretty basic game thus people who play very little videogames can pick it up fairly quickly.

The Smash Brothers game for the N64 was another good game to play with people.

Ever kill anybody on GoldenEye and then they swear up and down that they killed you before they died? That always pissed me off.

That might give Mario Kart the edge. On there if anyone bitched, you could be like, "Yo, here's a red shell fo dat azz!"

That happened every so often, but it never became a big problem for me.

GoldenEye, baby

I hated the game when I owned it because my dad and sister always beat me in the Multiplayer stuff, so I sold it. My dad and sister will never let me live that down.

GE gets my vote. Brilliant game. The Facility is still one of the greatest maps ever created.

A damn shame Rare fucked up with PD.

GE....a remember destroying my brother in that.

But I have to go with Super Smash Brothers. Such a great game.

In my mind, Goldeneye is a verycloserunnerup to Super Smash Brothers; the latter would cause all types of brawls involving the players, after the result of the game was determined.

How the fuck did Rare 'fuck up' with Perfect Dark?

In a marketable sense, trying to integrate the newly released "Expansion Pa©k" into the game itself, yet they chased away about 35% of the GE audience who didn't want to pay $100 just to play Perfect Dark.

I thought it had forgettable level design, a dumb story, bogus AI (well, so did GE, but it was worse here and Rare even admitted to it), and they overshot in terms of what they could do with the current technology (framerate wasn't exactly that great; didn't help that the pacing was kicked up a few notches from GE). The weapons were also overpowered and unbalanced in mulitplayer (laptop gun...).

And the whole marketing side of things that bravesfan pointed out.

Super Mario Kart, Goldeneye, Dooms 1 and 2, Quakes 1 and 3.

Counterstrike and Starcraft. Sure, it's a cliched answer, but it's one for a reason. Also, Worms Armageddon was righteous (as was Worms 2, to a lesser extent). I was damn solid at that one - could get anyone into the water from anywhere. On console, Super Bomberman.

I think Donkey Kong Country and Rogue Squadron came with an expansion pack. Me and my brother had both, so we gave one to my best friend.

And where's the Mario Kart love?

Goldeneye...but only with one hit kill mode.

That was the best... License to Kill with pistols only. Give me a silenced PP7 and I'd serve anybody. I loved that...

Sniper rifles was also a very awsome setting for license to kill. And the level always had to be complex.

I loved GoldenEye, but my trigger-happy friends never let me put it on Licence to Kill. My dream scenario was always a pistols at dawn or sniper contest, but NOOOOOOOOOO. We had to have all explosions.

Does anyone here still play Quake 2?

Dames

I play it all the time... last year during college, we played that damn thing all the time. I really need to get everyone back into it again!

On shot kill with throwing knives always made for some fun.

Conker's Bad Fur Day on multiplayer is the best. It's Goldeneye with attitude.

Oh, right; can't forget Conker. Tediz and squirrel soldiers. I'd almost buy an X-Box for the new one if I had a good internet service. In case you didn't know, it's the original game uncut with online multiplayer support.
