Rendclaw Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 Okay the talk about another D&D movie being made got my mind thinking in another direction. What was the best/worst game-to-movie translastion you have seen? I am very hesitant to throw anime in the mix, because all of the game/anime translations they do are at the very least decent to watch. Best - Mortal Kombat Worst (tie) - Mortal Kombat: Annihilation/Dungeons & Dragons Your takes?
Guest razazteca Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 There has been so many bad ones but Mario Brothers is the one I disliked the most. Pop quiz boys now I live in the sewer and want to devolve the population to lizards and the only resistance is Plumbers? Worst: Super Mario Brothers Mortal Kombat was good as it unlike many movies kept the plot simple and true to the game.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 If board games count, then Clue by a mile. Funny as hell and a great cast. Worst movie to game translation was Atari's E.T. I played that games for hours wanting to beat it and you couldn't, because it wasn't finish. I got as far a person could though.
Guest El Satanico Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 What...Atari released a game that wasn't finished? How the hell did they get away with that.
Guest chirs3 Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 Best game to movie translation? Mortal Kombat, no question. Worst? There are so many... probably MK: Annihalation, though... or Street Fighter... or Tomb Raider...
Zetterberg is God Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 Best: Mortal Kombat by a landslide Worst:How about Final Fantasy? The movie had absolutely nothing to do with the game and it had a poor story.
Guest newblood03 Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 Best : Mortal Kombat Worst: Resident Evil Tomb Raider D&D Street Fighter
Rendclaw Posted May 24, 2003 Author Report Posted May 24, 2003 I didn't think Resident Evil was all that bad... then again I am big Mila Jovovich mark... Street Fighter ranks just behind MK:A and D&D, but not far behind.. I was heavy into Street Fighter when that came out, and I just shuddered in revulsion.. I had to go to the local arcade and play SSFII several times before I felt better.... And then Street Fighter the Movie arcade game hit..... ::shudders again::
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 (edited) The story with the E.T. game was that the heads at Atari wanted it out by Christmas, but the programmers weren't finished with it. Atari said the kids wouldn't notice and they'd sell tons anyway. It was a collossal flop and therfore the easiest game to find because nobody wants it. Basically, as far as you could get was to get a clock in the shape of a pie chart to come up at the top of the screen (which you only did on luck more than anything) and then you run to where you started the game and the spaceship would come get you, but the ship never came and the farther you played into the game the more shitty and harder to play it became. Rendclaw Posted May 24, 2003 Author Report Posted May 24, 2003 Ah yes, the good ole days of atari 2600... when everyone and their mother could program crappy 2600 games...
Guest wildpegasus Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 Best game to movie translation: Mortal Kombat Worst game to movie translation: Mortal Kombat II: Probably the worst computer generated special effects ever
Guest EsotericMaster Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 Resident Evil was pretty bad, but not as bad as Mario Bros.
