Guest SP-1 Report post Posted May 28, 2003 I'm pretty sure it's Ship of the Line. I'll check. Yeah, Picard even goes the mind warp route to do it, as I recall. Good book overall.
Guest The Flying Dutchman Report post Posted May 28, 2003 If you guys haven't read the DS9 continuation in book form, you're screwing yourselves over. There is some GREAT stuff going on there. Crew and other characters are now ... Colonol Kira Nerys - just as you know her, except she released classified religious documents to Bajorans and so was excommunicated from the Bajoran faith and shunned by all Bajorans Commander Elias Vaughn - 100+ year old gray haired Starfleet commander with ties to Section 31. Sees Sisko in a vision aboard an abandoned Cardassian freighter while finding the lost Orb of Prophecy. Second in command of Deep Space Nine and takes the Defiant on a 3 month trip of exploration into the Gamma Quadrants Lieutenant Nog - Chief of Operations of Deep Space Nine. Engineered a way for Empok Nor (DS9's abandoned sister station) to be transported to Bajor in a subspace warp bubble so that the spare parts (most importantly, the fusion core) can be accessed fairly easily. Ro Laren (forget the rank) - new Security Chief of Deep Space Nine Bashir - still there, same guy Ezri Dax - still there, but has transferred to command and is the second officer of the Defiant Jake Sisko - disappears into the wormhole to search for his father after the Orb of Prophecy is brought back to Bajor. Upon his return to Deep Space Nine, brought with him KAI OPAKA from the Gamma Quadrant. Z'thchane - Andorian science officer of Deep Space Nine Gul Macet - distant cousin of Gul Dukat who bears a striking resemblence to the latter aside from facial hair. Appears to be greatly interested in improving relations between Bajor and Cardassia. Taran'atar - Jem'Hadar sent to the station by Odo to observe life among Alpha Quadrant species. Insanely good warrior, he's 23 years old (ANCIENT by Jem'Hadar standards as most have been killed in battle around the age of 5. Yes, he's that good.) Is one of the anomolous Jem'Hadar without the addiction to Ketracel White.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted May 28, 2003 I've seen them in the store and am interested. Lack of money/time, and having other books in front of me has prevented me from indulging. I might pick them up though.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2003 They are GOOD. It's almost like DS9 never went off the air after 7 years.. what got me back into them was the Section 31 series that covered all the series except for Enterprise. Ro is a Lieutenant. ::makes a mental note to hit the Waldenbooks this weekend::
Guest The Flying Dutchman Report post Posted May 28, 2003 Ah, right. But she's a lieutenant in the Bajoran Militia, IIRC. Has Unity come out yet? I know Bajor is soon to join the Federation.

Guest Cover of Darkness Report post Posted May 28, 2003 I'll admit. When they switched sides at the end of the war I marked out. Just a little. I just marked for the fact that the Romulans were used at all. About time they played a major role in a ST storyline.

Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted June 1, 2003 section 31 is a secret spy organization dedicated to protecting the Federation by any means neccasary, including murder. while the politicans of the Federation deny any knowledge of a Section 31 they are secretly in bed with the section 31'ers. it's all from deep space nine when Dr. Bashir was being tested to join. *is a geek*

Guest cartman Report post Posted June 1, 2003 15. Speaking of sex, most of us assume that the more you talk about your sex life, the less sex you are actually getting. Surveys show that married people still have sex more often than single people, yet you rarely see married people bragging about their sex lives. Also, people who claim to be women but constantly talk about sex will quickly convince some people they are actually a guy pretending to be a woman. If you really want to talk about sex all the time, there are forums and chatrooms just for that purpose. Well THAT doesnt happen here...

Guest Korgath Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Gee. I'm a Trek fan (murders desire to type trekkie) in general, but I sure didn't come to TSM to mark about DS9. Not that I would really know where else to go for that matter. But shouldn't this thread be closed to prevent it from deviating much further? Qapla'!
