Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted May 28, 2003 For all Canadians here, Edge is appearing on Off The Record on TSN right now. Details to follow...
Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted May 28, 2003 First segment... Finding out he needed neck surgery was like "getting punched in the face." Started as tingling in the hands, but lost all strength in his arms in about 2 months, wrestling through it. Will be out 9 1/2 more months, but will get clearance to come back, as he only had 2 discs fused, not 3. Looking back, he thought the big TLC bumps (among others) were pretty stupid. He mentioned he couldn't turn his head for three days after taking a powerbomb from Eddy Guerrero. Edge admits that the risk taking was him trying to get noticed. He felt that he needed to, but maybe should've followed Undertaker's example, getting over without taking so many risks. He won't be taking the big bumps when he gets back. Hates the term "fake" pertaining to wrestling...also mentions that he was the seventh person in WWE to need neck surgery. Host shows a clip of Angle saying he knows the risks, and knows that maybe he'll need to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair, but likes wrestling too much. Edge agrees with this sentiment, and mentions that he's spending this time getting caught up with life. He's slowly getting back into small weights, up to 15 lbs. right now. Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted May 28, 2003 Second segment... Edge now admits knowing he could spend the rest of his life was sobering, but that he'll be going full speed ahead when he gets back, and that's just the way he and most pro wrestlers are. Edge thinks that Foley, and a certain extent Shawn Michaels, were the first to really push the envelope as far as bump-taking on a worldwide stage. Edge says that he got to the next level after toning down the bumps, and would caution younger wrestlers who feel they need to take big bumps that they may be facing what he faced. He three favourite guys growing up were Bret Hart, HBK and Hulk Hogan. Thought working with Hogan was a blast, and something he could show his kids someday. Doesn't think the show should be centred around Hogan, but thinks Hogan still knows how to get the biggest reaction from the smallest things. Because Hogan could make people take notice just by walking into a room, he didn't need to take big risks, whereas for Edge it's more of a blend. Edge is happy for Christian and his new push (heh), and doesn't think he really has any enemies in the locker room, unlike the old days when guys like Hogan and Piper genuinely didn't like each other. Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted May 28, 2003 Third segment... On Goldberg: He seems like a cross between a UFC fighter and a wrestler. He's not great, but Goldberg would be the first to admit that. Would have to feel him out to see how safe he felt with Goldberg, in light of what happened to Bret. Edge did the same with Brock Lesnar. On avoiding drugs: He thinks it might be ingrained in his personality. Stopped taking painkillers two weeks after neck surgery. Cites Eddy Guerrero as an example, stating that Eddy was in rough shape for awhile, but now seems like a new person. Admits that wrestlers work through injuries more than other athletes...Edge's MCL is completely gone (a 6-8 week injury), and missed 5 shows. Missed only three weeks for his shoulder tear. Brings up Maven, who broke his leg in a house show in Calgary vs. Christian and finished the match. Doesn't know why wrestlers do that; that's just the way wrestlers are brought up. Brings up Mick Foley in Hell in a Cell vs. Undertaker as another example. In response to a reader email, says he owns one 15-foot ladder.

Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted May 28, 2003 (edited) Final segment... Edge promotes the Together For Toronto special, where buyers get tickets to the SmackDown taping, a Blue Jays game and the Molson Indy Toronto. Word association... RVD: Gumby. Uninjurable. Booker: Underutilized. Shawn Michaels: The best at one time. Has changed in the ring; doesn't know him well enough to know if he's changed outside the ring, but seems like it. Big Show: Gentle giant. A big teddy bear. Edge was pissed off by what happened to Rey, though. Kevin Nash: [diplomatic pause] Shouldn't be the focus of the show. Ric Flair: Legend. HHH: Overcriticized. Knows the IWC will be on him about that comment. Wants to gun for him when he gets back. Roddy Piper: Crazed. Never met him, though. Think there might be too many older guys, or that maybe they need to mix the younger guys with the older guys more, like they did with him and Hulk. End of show. Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted May 28, 2003 I liked the interview. See, now everybody is liking Edge. Just remember that *I* was always an Edgehead Oh, and Edge should shave....the scruffy look isn't for him...
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted May 28, 2003 Even he knows Nash shouldn't be the focus of the show…much less, our next Fake World Champion.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2003 Oh I always liked Edge, mainly because he didn't take the business too seriously and almost always looked like he was having fun out there...
JN News 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2003 Was Edge still wearing his soft neckbrace, or is finally living without it? Uh oh, as much as I would LOVE to see Edge go to RAW, (He should've been on that roster when they started the brand extension & draft.) the last thing I wanna see is Edge's name get added to the list of people whom HHH has buried. Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted May 28, 2003 Was Edge still wearing his soft neckbrace, or is finally living without it? Nope, no neckbrace. Just the "Spanish necktie," as he called his scar.
Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted May 29, 2003 After reading that recap and after reading his columns, I get the feeling that while some wrestlers would tell you to piss off if you ever met them in a bar or something, Edge would be the guy you'd be buying rounds with until closing time. Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 29, 2003 RVD: Gumby. Uninjurable. I have a feeling this will be a Omen of some sort.. RVD and Jericho have managed to go their entire WWE tenure injury free... RVD had one Angle injury in early 2000 in ECW and that was it... Jericho, in what must be one helluva surprise hasn't had ANY major injuries in N. American since his Main stream arrival in 1996... B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2003 Sounds like a great interview. I shall once again bitch that I don't have TSN.
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted May 29, 2003 Quote "and Jericho have managed to go their entire WWE tenure injury free" I believe Jericho has had at least 1 herniated disk which he worked or is working through. Who knows how much damage he has in there.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 29, 2003 I am not shocked that work ou freak Dam is gumby like but Jerucho doesn't seem like the gumby that he has been for 10 years...
