Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I don't recall seeing anything on here about this, too lazy to check the Raw thread. They announced The Rock will be at Raw next week and more specifically on the Chris Jericho Highlight Reel. Its in San Diego, which is close enough to Los Angelees (Jesse Ventura pronunciation) for Rock to appear. But as far as I know, this is only a one week deal. What purpose will it possibly serve? It might, might boost the ratings .1 or .2, but other than that, what will he do. Beat down Y2J? That does nothing for Jericho. Put over Goldberg? Maybe a lost cause. Any other ideas?
Guest nikowwf Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Say what a great wrestler Jericho is, put over his segment by coming back just for it, give Goldberg someone to kill and get heat without handing him Jericho. niko
Guest Mole Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Yup, help Jericho out. Like he needs it though.
Guest OnlyMe Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Pop a rating, without bothering about the consequences?
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 To hype up Judgement Day... ... or Jericho will swerve and have "The Rock" Don Muraco on..
Guest bravesfan Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I'd mark for Muraco... Of course, that's probably because I've left numerous phone messages over the past week for Don (inquiring about his wrestling school here in the state, for future research.) He's a very hospitable guy, so I'm hoping he grants me an interview over the phone or by mai...okay, useless ranting over.
Guest AndrewTS Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Maybe he'll give a little rub to Christian as well.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 It's simple. Raw is in San Diego (I think) so Vince wanted Rock to drive down from LA to add more hype to the PPV. I wonder who's side he will take? Jericho or Goldy.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I could care less about the Rock. I use to be a big fan of his work, but I can't get excited over his short comebacks.
Guest BANKYWOOD Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 To hype up Judgement Day... ... or Jericho will swerve and have "The Rock" Don Muraco on.. That would be great.
ChrisMWaters Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 How many people remember Don Muraco though? And if they do remember him, how many remember him as "The Rock" Don Muraco and not as The Magnificent Muraco. ....hmm...if he comes back as "The Rock" Don Muraco...will Superstar Billy Graham be in his corner again...or is Graham in too bad of condition for that?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I'm a little suprised it was only mentioned a couple times...usually on stuff like this it'll take up every segment.
LooseCannon25 Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 How many people remember Don Muraco though? And if they do remember him, how many remember him as "The Rock" Don Muraco and not as The Magnificent Muraco. ....hmm...if he comes back as "The Rock" Don Muraco...will Superstar Billy Graham be in his corner again...or is Graham in too bad of condition for that? Hey, i Remember "The Rock" Don Muraco with his Tye Dye shirt replacing the old grey sleeveless sweatshirt. I would mark out for him and his enormous friggin shoulders if he came back
Guest Rob Edwards Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 He'll be back to give someone a rub because he likes to make the effort like that I don't see how it can be anything but positive
Mecha Mummy Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Knowing WWE, they'll bait and switch THIS just like everything else.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I think that The Rock is gonna give some sort of a rub for Y2J.....or Don Muraco is gonna show up with Frenchy Martin turn heel and whoop everybody's ass!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest Rob Edwards Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Knowing WWE, they'll bait and switch THIS just like everything else. If he gets squashed by 3MW through my telly a brick does go
Guest Nanks Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 So now we're looking forward to bringing back an old-timer?? Can we make up our minds on the nostalgia angles?????
Guest The Tino Standard Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I think bringing in an old-timer as a "gotcha!" type of swerve for a one-time deal to further an angle with Jericho is harmless. But to center an entire brand around an old timer (Hello, Mr. America) is completely different story.
TheFranchise Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Jericho bringing back The Rock will only generate him face heat.
LooseCannon25 Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 The wwe has really been doing some dumb things. First they have Nash beat up Jericho in CANADA, and then they have Goldberg against mega Over Rock, and now they're having JEricho bring Rock back..................it's like they WANT their faces to get booed. Nash, Steiner, and Goldberg
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 The WWE should have learned by now: NEVER do important angles in Canada. We just don't react the way they want us to.
LooseCannon25 Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 The WWE should have learned by now: NEVER do important angles in Canada. We just don't react the way they want us to. Exactly....guys like Nash, Goldberg, HBK, have gotten booed there

I just loved that! Muraco dropping "The Magnificent" name in favour of "The Rock" Don Muraco and starting wearing tie-dyed t-shirts ala Graham. He also shed several extra pounds and got himself into the best shape of his career. Too bad he lost to Ted DiBiase in the 16-man WWF title tournament at Wrestlemania IV. Sadly, Muraco's once dominating WWF career would end as a midcard jobber.

I remember when i was little where Hogan would always get counted out or would win by DQ over Muraco. Once, Muraco tombstoned piledrive Hogan on the outside and won by countout. Hogan never got his job back!
Guest Mole Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 That is the way it was back in the day. And Jericho doesn't need the rub!! He could get heat over Bush in Iraq for gods sake, he has that special thing about him.

Guest razazteca Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I do not want to see Rock concert III.
Guest Quik Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I know I've said this before about old-timers, but here it goes again. The WWE needs to bring back Dino Bravo. He'll probly work for whatever they give him, and i doubt he;ll argue about jobbing to young guys. It'd be perfect.
