The Great Hall of what could have been

Jerry Lynn was totally wasted considering he had a match with RVD on HEAT.

Mike Awesome was also wasted because they wouldn't let him work his style.

Ricky Steamboat could have been a great World champion but they only wanted to use the big hoss's to fight Hogan.

etc. etc. etc........

Hogan drew Millions upon Millions over a 17 year period (1980-97)

Steamboat drew 100,000's by 100,000's, plus he retired in 1983 for a while, so it could be suggested that he was a risky guy to push as a Tippity Toppity Guy....

I'm a big Awesome fan, butthe WWE can't afford to have guys with Million Dollar contracts being powerbombed 16 feet from the top rope through a table on the floor, and wrestling in "stiff" matches overall. Plus he was pretty average sized in the WWE, compared to being a monster elsewear.

Lynn's use was pretty inexcusable (at least make him a JTTS and help make the Hosses look better... )

I've NEVER understood Mike Awesome love... the guy is clumsy, has limited mic skills (from what I've heard... I didn't watch ECW) and looks like a tool

Mike Awesome gets love because Masato Tanaka made him look like a million bucks in ECW. People tend to forget that if you can't look good with Masato, you're probably a corpse.

Simply a case of an amazing athlete carrying an above okay worker to some awesome matches.

Awesome busted out moves which were real damn memorable...like Sid in his NWA heyday, and Goldberg in his, he got over on his memorable offense.

What about Low Ki? He had a few dark matches, and then disappeared. If they booked him not to speak as much, then Low Ki-Tajiri could have been the best fued of the year last year. Until we get Low Ki-Tajiri, our lives are not complete.

Yeah, but DDP had been an effective heel before. Yet Vinnie decided to give him some silly "I stalk women much uglier than my wife" gimmick. I personally thought it sucked from the start.

Then, Taker got hold of it...

I was always bothered by the logic of the storyline... for years, if you followed WCW, you knew that DDP had a wife named Kimberly. During the Undertaker mess, I remember thinking "this would make just a little more sense if they involved Kimberly somehow..." but they never acknowledged her. I think they could have saved the angle if they would have played up DDP as just playing mind games with the Undertaker... start off with him stalking his wife, but then move on to some other thing that would get under Taker's skin. Then of course, have DDP actually win a few matches. Taker wins the payoff and the end to the feud of course, but instead of all of this, they just buried DDP and Kanyon in every single match.

Pathetic

I liked the way they brought that storyline in, especially after DDP's debut promo. After that I thought they would have dropped Sara alltogether because she was just a tool DDP was using to get to the Taker. It could have still worked if they actually played up the fact that DDP is only trying to anger the Taker but instead they made him a sick freak who apparently really wanted her. No smark could take this seriously because we know about Kimberly and even the dumbest mark who didn't couldn't believe it because of how shit-faced ugly Sara is (the 1% of the audience who found her attractive was too small). Of course to completely bury DDP, not only does he lose EVERY single match, Taker sold absolutely nothing aside from the occasional chair shot and low blow, and that didn't even hurt him for long.

I always hated the treatment they gave to Raven. It's true that his ringwork is mediocre at best, but I always enjoyed his matches and the psychology he employed. His true value though is his mic work, I've always found him to be one of the best promo men in the business. They gave him no story to work with, pulled the rug out from under him many times when he tried to get something going, and gave him no mic time where he could have really gotten over.

Saturn would be another. You have a guy who looks like one badass motherfucker and who has legit fighting skills, and you make him a goofball. They could have even made the goofball work if he snapped and became a serious threat. Instead he's a goofball who trips over his own two feet and becomes a comedy act.

A guilty pleasure I have is Shawn Stasiak, right before the Planet Stasiak thing. I loved it when he was trying to make an impact and kept running into walls (Angle is in Regal's office speaking, calmly steps aside allowing Stasiak to run into to suit of armour, calmly steps back and picks the conversation back up). His one punch match with Regal was another hilarious example. I suppose this would have gotten old pretty quick but it got a laugh out of me whenever it happened. This was a guy who had shown that he couldn't do the serious thing, so let him be one of the comedy players.
