{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2003 What is the general verdict on "Willy the worker"? I was away from a working computer since the second collumn posted on 1bob. Was it every really true and any chance it's related to Jeff hardys release. Thanks for any response.
Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted June 1, 2003 No, I don't think it was. If I remember correctly, The Scotsman admitted that Willy the Worker was a prank. Which is funny, because hardly anyone believed him. That's one of the reasons I hate The Scotsman and writers like him. They think the internet community hangs on their every word. Guest bravesfan Report post Posted June 1, 2003 According to Dave Meltzer, it was legit. Scotsman didn't say the "Worker" angle was a joke or prank played on the IWC. He just made a joke on his own site on the "Willie The Worker" angle, pretending to be the guy who used that gimmick.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted June 1, 2003 Last I heard Willie got busted when Dave asked him questions any WWE wrestler should know and he either didn't know or answered incorrectly.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 1, 2003 When did you hear that? Cause a few weeks ago someone called in WOL and asked Dave about it and Dave still said it was true.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 1, 2003 I wouldn't be shocked if Willie returns soon...I still contend it was Dave all along...
Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted June 1, 2003 From what I understand on this whole stupid mess, is that Dave Meltzer got the same emails and has said several times that it was legit. Soon after, Dave Schere (sp?) from 1wrestling said that Willie has decided not to post anymore, and then soon after said that he had asked him some questions which he didn't know so he assumed it was fake (of course he doesn't think to do this BEFORE posting it). So the general idea is that it was indeed real, and when the guy realized how much trouble he might get in he stopped writing and 1wrestling made some lame excuse to cover for him. Scotsman I believed at least claimed that he hacked into Dave Scerer's mailbox and saw it was RVD. I can't believe I followed all of this, how lame are we? Anyway I pretty much trust anything Dave Meltzer says so if he says it was real, then it was real.
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted June 1, 2003 The letters are so smarkish I can't believe they would be real, but Meltzer insists that they were. Last time he was asked on WOL, he said it was a real WWE worker and when asked who, he said he wouldn't disclose who it was because "they've been punished enough!" and laughed. So it would stand to reason it's a guy who got de-pushed/buried around that time. The caller also threw out a couple of suspects, and Dave said it wasn't them. I can't remember who he said, but I think I still have the show on my hard drive.

Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted June 2, 2003 I think I remember Meltzer saying it wasn't Jeff right after he was fired.
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted June 2, 2003 Meltzer stated on a message board, that it WAS NOT Jeff Hardy.
Guest Quik Report post Posted June 2, 2003 I'm Willie the Worker. No, really. Really. I am. Okay, fine. I'm not.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted June 2, 2003 My feelings was that it was always Van Dam..........anyway heres a thought, what if it was someone ghost writing a wrestlers thoughts, hence the smarkish overtones. Like a friend of Van Dam or something? Obviously though whoever the "worker" was though, they put up someone to ghost write for them, put some of their general thoughts on paper and turn it up a notch basically. Guest Quik Report post Posted June 2, 2003 No, it was Vince Russo all along. SWERVE~!
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted June 2, 2003 Yea, someone asked if it was The Hurricane or Christian and Dave said no. Guess it's none other than.. Willow the Wisp I dug it up and found that part. you were close, actually he asked if it was Goldust or Christian. So Hurricane's stll a possible suspect. Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted June 2, 2003 When did you hear that? Cause a few weeks ago someone called in WOL and asked Dave about it and Dave still said it was true. I meant Bob, I guess..... I forget one internet "personality" from the other and don't recognize these people on a first-name basis like those whose lives revolve around wrestling (no offense) EDIT: Actually, I think Slapnuts had it right there... Too many guys named Dave. Anyway, if I had to guess now that Jeff's ruled out, I'd say Kane. Sure there was some hoss hate regarding Nathan Jones but if I were Kane I'd be pissed off too because Kane is a decent worker compared to Jones who is all height and no skill. Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted June 2, 2003 The guy used the term "FART~!" in a supposedly serious article. If there is any wrestler who writes like then, God help them. As for Hurricane, I doubt he would be the guy (if it is even a wretler). If "Willy" has been "punished enough" for it as Meltzer claims, the WWE has some weird punishments. Mini-program with The Rock, match with Ric Flair, yeah some punishment.
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted June 2, 2003 Mini-program with The Rock, match with Ric Flair, yeah some punishment. Well, granted, the mini-program was in place before Wrestlemania XIX. IIRC, a few days after Mania, "Willie's" first article was posted. Hurricane, with the exception of the job to Flair, hasn't been seen since. And to be honest, with how Meltzer interprets things, a clean submission loss to Flair (at this point in the game) can be construed as a "burial", whether we believe such or not. Willy the Worker started AFTER the program with Rocky and after Hurricane got nothing to follow it up other than jobbing to main eventers.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted June 2, 2003 The guy used the term "FART~!" in a supposedly serious article. If there is any wrestler who writes like then, God help them. Exactly. Who knows Kane isn't the kind of guy who would write that in the article? I don't think anyone here has had extended conversations with Mr. Jacobs. Plus he's been depushed quite a bit as of late, as they teased a breakup at No Way Out then never delivered. His character has stretched in so many different directions since Summerslam that I wouldn't be suprised if his morale fell in the toilet and he wrote to 1Popup. And he hasn't been pushed really since then. He had like, one chance on the stick last month when they were hyping the IC battle royal.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 2, 2003 I'll just say this - Meltzer will say "No" even if the real answer is "yes" regarding who Willie the Worker is.
